Nissan Leaf is now the best-selling plug-in vehicle of all time in US
Thu, Apr 2 2015Numbers don't lie. And in some instances, you can see their truth from miles away. As everyone expected, the Nissan Leaf is now officially the best-selling plug-in vehicle in the US. While the two vehicles aren't direct competitors (one's a pure EV and the other is a plug-in hybrid), they certainly dominate the plug-in vehicle sales charts. When we do a little math on those charts, we see that since the two vehicles went on sale at the end of 2010, the Volt has sold 75,231 units while the Leaf is now at 76,407, giving the Leaf a 1,176-vehicle lead. The Leaf trailed the Volt by just two units at the end of February. This is the first time the EV had held the overall lead since the end of February 2012, when it was ahead 10,847 to 9,623 and for a while there at the end of 2013, the Volt was up by around 12,000 units. Times have changed, though, and we don't expect the lead to switch back until the next-gen Volt goes on sale later this year, and even then nothing is certain. The Leaf sold 1,817 copies last month, a drop of 27.5 percent from last year. Year-to-date, the Leaf has sold 4,085 units, down 21.2 percent from the same time period in 2014. There were 639 Volts sold last month, a 56.8-percent sales decrease compared to March 2014. So far this year, Volt sales are down 48 percent. Green Chevrolet Nissan ev sales hybrid sales
'Baby Driver' is a car chase movie set to music
Mon, Mar 13 2017The Fate of the Furious is certainly the 6,000-pound SUV in the garage of automotive movies, but that doesn't mean gearheads are starved for options. The upcoming film Baby Driver looks to be a winner for car guys, featuring exciting chases with cars including a "hawk-eye" Impreza WRX, a Dodge Challenger, and a 1980s Chevy Caprice. The movie is written and directed by Edgar Wright, whom you may know as the man behind movies such as Sean of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. And based on the two trailers released so far, seen above and below, it's about a young man by the name of Baby, who is a getaway driver for criminals. He's apparently the best in the business, and the secret to his success is the music he listens to while he's driving. He also wants out, but his boss, played by Kevin Spacey, has no intention of letting him go. Spacey is one of a number of major stars in the film, including Jamie Foxx and John Hamm. The driving action shown in the trailers definitely looks entertaining. The WRX is seen doing an array of drifts and J-turns. There is some driving precision on display here that wouldn't be out of place in a Gymkhana video. And it looks like Wright's attention to detail in his shots and transitions, as well as some solid comedy relief, are all going to be present. The film comes out this August. Tue, Dec 1 2015"It looks like a Volt had an evening of regrets with an i3." That's AutoblogGreen editor-in-chief Sebastian Blanco talking about the car you see here, the 2017 Chevy Bolt. Our trusty spy photographers caught the new Bolt EV fully uncovered at a photo shoot, ahead of its official debut at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. To say the styling looks familiar would be an understatement. There's a lot of Volt elements here, and the nod to the BMW i3 is definitely valid. It's not unattractive, it's just sort of, well, there. Never mind, the Bolt will have a lot going for it when it launches, should earlier rumors come to fruition. The hatchback is expected to have a 200-mile electric range, and should cost right around $30,000 after incentives. The Bolt will be built in Michigan, and will likely arrive at dealers in early 2017. Chevy knows this one's going to be huge, and the company is fully committed to launching and marketing the Bolt the right way. We'll have the full details in January at CES.
