Up for sale is a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD work truck.  It has an automatic transmission and the color is dark metallic blue.  It has 57,549 miles on it ( it is currently being driven daily and the mileage will vary slightly- normally around 100 miles a week on average.).  It was recently inspected ( 2 new front tires were put on it during the inspection, the back tires have approximately 50% tread left.) and the inspection is good until December 2014.  When it was inspected, we also had the oil changed.  New front brakes were put on for inspection 2012.  We also purchased a new set of  floor mats for the driver and passenger side floors.  It is a smoke free truck, and as long as we've owned it we would not allow anyone to smoke in it.  We do have the manual that came with the truck.

     Other features:

  •  Air conditioning (blows cold)
  • AM/FM/CD player
  • Privacy glass
  • Tilt wheel
  • Bedliner
  • 6 passenger
  • Dual air bags
  • Tow hitch
  • Truck box in the bed for tools etc.. (this can be removed very easily if you need more room in the bed
  • Putco chrome covers on the door handles, gas cap and truck bed gate handle
  • VDP wheel well storage with marine grade speakers -- probably the coolest part of the truck.  These storage boxes/speakers are installed in the bed of the truck over the wheel wells.  Turn on the auxiliary power of the truck, (or while the truck is running if you are so inclined to blast the music while driving) and with a flip of the toggle switch located under the steering column, the interior speakers will shut down and the truck box speakers will blast your favorite music or game!!  These are great for tailgating, working outside etc. The boxes can also store drinks. When you don't have your favorite drinks in them, they can also be used to store tools or whatever.  In the picture that shows the brake pedal, there is a toggle switch above it that turns the speakers on/off.  We've received a lot of compliments about the speakers.

The truck is in very good condition.  The only minor issues it has are that the front speakers in the truck do not work, they haven't worked in the 4 years we've owned the truck ( the 2 speakers on the front doors do not work, the speakers on the back doors and the truck box speakers work fine).  This never was a problem for us because with the front speakers not working, the music wasn't blasting in your ears.  There is a small spot of rust above the back bumper next to the license plate(see picture).  This truck was used for landscaping work and there are some surface scratches/nicks on it- although it was recently professionally detailed.  They are not really noticeable at a short distance.  Even though it was used for landscaping work, it is extremely clean inside.  Also, the locks on the speaker boxes don't work.

We are not mechanics and have tried our best to describe the truck.  We are not pressed to sell it and would appreciate serious inquiries only.  Local pickup only, if you are interested in having the truck shipped, it will be the sole responsibility of the buyer.  Payment will be cash or a cashier's check from a U.S. Bank, although cash is strongly preferred.  Thank you for looking, if you have any questions or need additional pictures, just let us know.  This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty expressed or implied.  We reserve the right to cancel this listing at any time.

Recharge Wrap-up: Indianapolis to switch 425 fleet vehicles to EVs, Chevy Corvette provides bat habitats

Tue, Nov 4 2014

Indianapolis will deploy 425 battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles as part of its municipal fleet by 2016. The fleet will include such cars as the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt and Ford Fusion Energi. The city will also reduce its overall fleet by 100 vehicles. In all, the revised group - called the "Freedom Fleet" - will save $8.7 million and 2.2 million gallons of gasoline over 10 years. Read more at Hybrid Cars. EVs with longer range would make vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid energy management systems more practical for the US. The idea of using EVs as energy storage for emergencies or times of high grid demand is currently being tested in Japan with Nissan's Leaf-to-Home system. The US is also interested in such capabilities, but the higher average energy use of American households would make larger batteries in EVs ideal for grid storage applications. The factory, when constructed, will have a capacity of producing batteries for 100,000 cars per year according to the Korean company. The plant will supply batteries for Chinese automakers such as SAIC and Qoros. Construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2015 and LG Chem expects revenue of more than $933 million by 2020. Read more in the press release below. General Motors is using adhesive used in the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to create habitat for threatened bat species. Artificial bat caves could help alleviate white-nose fungus that leads to diminished bat populations. Leftover adhesive is used to create stalactites in the artificial caves, allowing them more structure to hang from. GM has also provided Volt battery covers to create nesting habitats for bats, which eat harmful insects and help pollinate plants. See the videos and read more in the press release below. New Chevy Malibu helps parents monitor teen driver's performance

Thu, Apr 2 2015

For teens, a driver's license can represent freedom. For parents, it can represent fear. Now there's a way parents can alleviate some of their worries and monitor their teen drivers. The 2016 Chevy Malibu, which debuted Wednesday at the New York Auto Show, contains a new feature that tracks driving performance and helps inexperienced drivers rein in some of their more dangerous habits. Accessed through a password in the car's infotainment system, parents can learn how far their child has driven, how fast they've gone and how many times they've braked hard, among other features. "It's an in-vehicle report card that gives parents information," says Mary Ann Beebe, one of the lead engineers who designed the system. "It's meant to be used as a teaching tool. Parents can sit down and talk with their teen about, 'Here are some areas where you're doing well, and here's some where you can use improvement.'" Car accidents are the leading cause of death for teens ages 16 to 19, and only last week, AAA released a study that found their driving behavior can leave them particularly susceptible to crashes. General Motors had sought ways to help educate and train younger drivers. In an era where data can be harvested from cars, monitoring performance is one way to provide information. Parents access the Teen Driver system in the car through a PIN-number entered into the Malibu's infotainment system. The report card can only be seen in the car – so far, it's not available via a smartphone app, like some other types of on-board diagnostic information. The system is activated by the use of a specially programmed key fob that lets the system know who is driving the car. Once the vehicle recognizes the key fob, it takes preventive measures to ensure safer conduct behind the wheel: Until the driver and front passenger buckle their seat belts, the radio is muted. Safety systems such as forward-collision assist and electronic stability control are automatically turned on. Parents can preset preferred speed limits, and drivers will hear a warning if that sound is exceeded. "We have these great technologies, and we want to make sure we turn them on for the teen," Beebe said. There are no geo-location aspects of the program, and data is stored on the car, not uploaded to the Cloud or even seen by General Motors, she said.
