FUTURE COLLECTIBLE THAT YOU CAN DRIVE AND ENJOY NOW!!

If you are like me you are looking at this auction because you are a true Car Enthusiast and it is hard to ignore the appeal of these Chevy SSR’s. I find that the typical owner of an SSR is someone who currently owns, or has previously owned several classic, muscle, or exotic cars in their lifetime and would like a modern driving Hot Rod that still catches all the eyes on the road, shows or cruise-ins and is a blast to drive.  This is the 10th SSR we have had and there is no doubt  that the 2005 and 2006 models have proven to be more desirable then the 2003-2004's. The neck-snapping increase in Horsepower from the Gen IV 6.0L LS2 V-8 coupled with the optional Tremec 6-speed manual gearbox turns this cool looking Roadster Truck in to a serious road machine! I will go out on a limb and say that in my opinion the 2005 SSR is basically a Corvette on steroids. Best of all, this is sure to be one of the future Collectibles of its time and will hold its value and most likely appreciate for years to come.

WE KNOW THIS SSR QUITE WELL AS WE SOLD IT JUST 1 YEAR AGO TO A GREAT GUY IN KENTUCKY WHO UNFORTUNATELY HAD SOME HEALTH ISSUES THAT HAVE PREVENTED HIM FROM ENJOYING IT LIKE HE THOUGHT HE WOULD BE. AS A RESULT HE PUT LESS THEN 400 MILES ON IT DURING HIS YEAR OF OWNERSHIP.  HE CONTACTED ME TO SE IF I WAS INTERESTED IN BUYING IT BACK AND OF COURSE I WAS MORE THEN HAPPY TO!! IT IS IN EXACTLY THE SAME CONDITION AS WHEN WE TRANSPORTED IT TO HIM A YEAR AGO WHICH MEANS IT IS NEAR FLAWLESS!! THE DESCRIPTION BELOW IS FROM WHEN I SOLD IT TO HIM A YEAR AGO AS NOTHING HAS CHANGED OTHER THEN THE MILEAGE.

Prior to a year ago when we sold this SSR to a gentleman in Kentucky, this Ricochet Silver, 6-speed was owned by a wealthy car enthusiast in the Dallas, TX area who passed away. This modern hot rod is in amazing, near flawless condition!! I have included a number of pictures to show you the great design and condition of this SSR and a short video follows the pictures so you can hear its throaty stock rumble. A total of 1202 SSR's were produced in this color in 2005 and I am guessing that this is probably 1 of about 500 in this color built with the 6-speed and the options this one has. Those of you who are in to classic and collectible cars know what this will mean in 15 years or so for this SSR’s value. Sit back and enjoy….and most importantly picture yourself in this SSR…believe me you will love it! ( there are quite a few pics so please allow them to load...it is worth the wait!)

As you will see in the pictures that follow the body on this Ricochet Silver Beauty is close to flawless. This SSR has never been in any type of accident and the paint and body are basically like new. This particular one has the optional integrated running boards that really enhance the look of the truck. I have not detected any flaws in the body but just to play it safe I will call it near flawless as there is probably an extremely tiny rock chip or two I may have missed. It truly looks like it just came off the showroom floor!! Ultra Silver painted wheels compliment the Silver paint and running boards and other trim.I have noticed stickers on almost every body panel that say DNA Trace System Invisible Vehicle Security. I believe this is an added security in case this SSR is ever stolen that will enable it to be traced back to the owner with some VIN etchings that I have not yet looked for.The only flaw I really noticed was a couple of tiny scrapes on 2 of the wheels. Great stance from the 20'' rears and 19'' fronts and with under 9250 miles on this SSR the tires are close to new with tons of meat on them.  The hardtop convertible feature on this truck is really amazing. With just the push of a button and a matter of seconds the Hardtop retracts in to a small compartment behind the seats and you are now basically driving an open air roadster….HOW COOL!! Lets not forget this SSR is also a truck. Ok, lets be truthful for a second. The truck cargo compartment has the upgraded carpeting with wood trim and is more like a very oversized trunk space. It will haul plenty of cargo but this is a modern street rod and not a truck you make to Home Depot for lumber and mulch.  As you will see this truck is in near perfect condition just as  you would expect from one with such low mileage. Here is a walk around tour of the body:

While the SSR definitely has some of the flare of the 50's styles Street Rod Pick up trucks, if I had to vote I would say drop the top on this SSR at every chance you get.  So lets drop the top and take a look inside. The Ebony leather interior is in fantastic condition and is extremely comfortable for driver and passenger. Practically no wear on the drivers side seat and it looks like the passnger seat was barely sat in. Interior is nicely equipped with safety and comfort features. For safety you have side impact airbags in addition to the drivers and passengers front airbags.  Power heated seats for driver and passenger, memory power seats,  upgraded Bose Premium sound with in-dash 6 cd player, electrochromatic rearview mirror with homelink, power everything, ice cold a/c,  cruise control, steering wheel radio controls,  and so much more!! The interior is very neatly laid out and there are several convenient cup holders as well. Custom SSR floor mats finish off the look. This one also has the optional gauge package in the console giving you outside temperature and other vitals. I have the original owners manuals and the original cd that walks you through the vehicle and tells you how to personalize all the settings. Come check it out:

NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO REMIND YOU THAT THIS SSR HAS UNDER 9250 MILES!!!!

 photo 100_6905_zpse18fbe1c.jpg

Aside from the awesome, jaw-dropping color and great looks this 2005 SSR is a power house and extremely fun to drive thanks to the 390 horsepower LS2 Corvette Motor and the Tremec 6-speed manual transmission this one is equipped with.  As I mentioned earlier I have driven a 2004 SSR and the difference in performance is truly like day and night. The 4760 lb 2005 SSR will blast to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds and through the quarter mile in 13.8 seconds, more then 2 seconds faster than the ’03-’04 models The steering system in the 2005 SSR was revised for smoother operation and easier handling at low speeds. The sound of the LS2 V8 at high revs is intoxicating and the dual exhaust maintains a nice throaty sound at idle. Front and rear stabilizer bars, tuned shocks, 4 wheel anti-lock brakes, and some meaty Goodyear Rubber on all four corners makes for some great times on the highway and local roads. This is truly an amazing driving experience in a Roadster Truck that is one of a kind!

Pure Vision Design TT Camaro has 1,400 reasons to want it

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

We've talked about Pure Vision Design before, a California-based company that made waves at last year's SEMA show with its Martini-liveried, Indy-car-powered Ford Mustang. That same car later starred in a Petrolicious video we showed you just a few weeks back. The company's latest creation is a menacing car it calls the Pure Vision Design TT Camaro. Based on a 1972 model, this car shares the Martini Mustang's clean styling and obsession with details.
Unlike the Mustang, which draws its power from a mid-60s Lotus-Ford Indycar engine, the "TT" in this Camaro's name implies something far more potent. The Nelson Racing Engines 427-cubic-inch V8 has been fitted with a pair of turbochargers, with a claimed output of 1,400 horsepower. That's almost 1,000 more than the Martini Mustang.
A six-speed Magnum transmission dispatches that power to the ground, while Pirelli PZero tires are tasked with (somehow) trying to grip the road. Baer brakes hide behind those HRE rims, while JRI coilovers and HyperTech springs bless the Camaro with some degree of competency in the bends.

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.

Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and EV Buyer's Guide: Which one do you want?

Fri, Nov 10 2017

If you're shopping for a new vehicle these days, there's a litany of acronyms, buzzwords, and technobabble to further complicate an already difficult decision. But if you're looking at a green powertrain, you have three basic choices to compare: hybrid, plug-in hybrid and "EV" or, electric vehicle. So what are they and which one — if any — is right for you? Research your next new vehicle using Autoblog's Car Finder. Gasoline-Electric Hybrids By now, most people are familiar with the concept of a hybrid car. Thank Toyota's Prius for that. At its most basic, a hybrid vehicle has two powertrains, one gasoline and one electric, which work together for maximum efficiency. At low speeds, the engine can shut off entirely, relying solely on the battery for propulsion. The battery is either charged as you drive by converting kinetic energy into potential energy via a complex regenerative braking system, or directly off of the gas motor. This is a very hands-off, behind-the-scenes system as all the driver has to is put in gas and drive as normal. Hybrids come in all shapes and sizes and, according to the EPA, range in fuel economy from 58 mpg for the Hyundai Ioniq Blue all the way down to 13 mpg for the Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta. Best For: Anyone who want to see their fuel consumption go down without many sacrifices. You can easily find a hybrid sedan, hatchback, crossover, SUV or even a pickup truck (i f you can find one). Best of all, a hybrid requires no special equipment to be installed at home, or added work for the driver. Hybrids do cost more than traditionally-powered competitors, so make sure to compare projected fuel savings with how much extra a hybrid will cost – it may take a surprisingly long time to break even. The EPA provides a handy calculator for this very purpose. Our Favorite Hybrids: 2017 Toyota Prius 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid 2017 Ford Fusion Hybrid Plug-In Hybrids Sometimes referred to as a PHEV, or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, this is a baby-step towards full electrification. Armed with a much larger battery pack than a hybrid, PHEVs can go between 12 ( Mercedes-Benz GLE550e) and 97 ( BMW i3 w/Range Extender) miles on electricity alone depending on the model and your driving style. Like a normal hybrid, the driver is largely unaware of which power source is currently in use, even as they switch over — either because the battery is drained, or the driving circumstances require more power.
