V8 S10 Conversion Body Off 1982 on 2040-cars
Lawrenceville, Georgia, United States
Here is an extremely straight not a door ding absolutely show straight body with a professional paint job done frame off inside and out all door jambs under hood bed etc however it was frame offed about 10 years past then fell into some barn after engine threw rod. I bought it for way too much $ because of the condition of body and underneath, which is almost as impressive. zero rust none. The underside is clean as well. Anyway I had my mechanic who specializes in s10 rods and races an s10 Blazer do the install of basically a very nice running 350 which had been rebuilt out of a show cutlass who upgraded to 450 hp. Engine seems to be stock truck motor out of pre 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe or suburban with a 4 bbl and dual exhaust. the trans is a 700r4 which shifts very smooth and the rear end I'm guessing is 3:25 somewhere around there. Now with the 16" Camaro z28 rims it will spin the tires at will even at speed so the motor has too much power to do anything with without going posi and some type of traction aid. It is basically a driver and she is very dependable my son has driven it the past month daily since his car was broken. It is very well mannered if driven like Grandma or she will fly if desired. The gas mileage is decent with the 700r. I bought the car also because it had both heat which works well and a/c system complete. Most s10 conversions remove everything but this one is a step above. I was going to finish it and do everything but I have recently been given custody of a 2 yr old to go along with the 6 yr old so now I cannot use this truck and need ext cab. so before I paint it and it gets more expensive I'm putting her up for cheap. This truck could be extremely nice with very little elbow grease, plus you can drive it anywhere any distance right now. new alternator, new starter, new battery, brakes are excellent, exhaust is perfect, gas is clean and electric fuel pump works dependably. Best of all it does not get hot with the 2 electric fans and the special aluminum radiator stuff needing attention :1. seats need removed and new springs installed they are shot 2. there is water coming in on drivers side floor there is an easy fix on internet haven't got to it yet 3. speedocable either broke or disconnected it was working but not now 4. headliner is new but glue failed and needs reglued 5. never bothered to hook up radio |

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect
Tue, 17 Aug 20102010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
GM laying off 500 workers to slow Chevy Sonic production
Sat, Oct 24 2015Due to slow sales of the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, General Motors is cutting a shift at the Orion Township plant that builds the pair. The move lays off about 500 workers, but most of them are expected to get offers to transfer to other factories, Automotive News reports. The move came just a day after GM announced adding 1,200 employees to the Detroit-Hamtramck plant. GM has been trying all year at the Orion Township factory to align production of the Sonic and Verano with their demand. The automaker first attempted idling the plant several times and eventually resorted to laying off about 100 workers. It also reduced the production rate there. With the huge rise in popularity of crossovers, demand for the plant's small cars is on the downturn. According to Automotive News, there's currently a 116-day supply of Sonics and 100 days of Veranos to sell. Delivers tell a similar tale because the Chevy is off 35.2 percent from January to September, and the Buick does little better with a 27.2 percent drop from the same period last year. While the situation at Orion Township might look rough now, big things are on the horizon. Soon, the new Chevy Bolt electric vehicle will be built there when it hits the market around 2017. Plus, the plant will also get a $245-million upgrade and 300 new jobs for another, unannounced vehicle.
Some 2012-13 Chevy Volts may not have enough battery coolant
Mon, Jun 23 2014The 2012 and 2013 model year Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle may have a battery glitch caused by low coolant levels. No recall has been issued and General Motors is taking care of the issue at no cost to drivers. Some of the affected Volts may have lower-than-advisable coolant levels because of some pesky air pockets in the car's cooling circuit. When the coolant levels get too low, the charging system for the battery powering the car's onboard generator (i.e. the Rechargeable Energy Storage System, or the RESS) may be shut down, turning one's Volt into a run-of-the-mill gas-powered car, and a pricey one at that. The Car Connection says GM is advising owners of the '12 and '13 Volts to contact their local Chevy dealer for a free fix. GM representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from AutoblogGreen for more details. We believe this is a separate issue than the one that brought 8,000 Volts back to the dealers for a battery coolant fix, what GM called a "voluntary customer satisfaction effort," a few years ago. General Motors sold 23,094 Chevy Volts last year after selling 23,461 Volts in 2012, so that fix-it list may get fairly lengthy. Check out a GM-Volt.com user thread related to this issue here. *UPDATE: Chevrolet spokesman Randy Fox confirmed in an e-mail to AutoblogGreen that the company issued a service bulletin to dealers that they may need to top off coolant levels on certain Volts because of the issue, and that the vehicle will "return to normal charging operation" once that's done.
