Frame Off 1956 Chevy Short Bed Pickup on 2040-cars
Sevierville, Tennessee, United States

Your search for the classic truck of your dreams is over. This beautiful purple 1956 Chevy short bed is just the ticket. I bought it as just a frame, bare cab and front sheet metal so you name it I had to buy it. It is powered by a new GMPP 350 RamJet fuel injected crate motor that pumps out 350 hp and 400 lb ft of torque. It has a polished billet Vintage Air Front Runner system and coated headers that flow into 2.5" stainless steel exhaust with an H pipe & Flowmasters. The engine is backed up by a modified 700R4 overdrive trans with a 2500 converter and a Lokar shifter. The TCI suspension consists of a power Mustang II rack, 4 link with coil overs and a Ford SVO 3.45 posi rear. 4 wheel power disc brakes with an under cab booster and master cylinder handle the stops and it rides on 17" Billet Specialties wheels wrapped in Kumho tires. It features a 1994 Sport Side bed and a reverse flip hood. Countless hours were spent getting the body of this outstanding truck just right and the paint is deep and slick. There is one small blemish in the paint above the left front wheel that does not show up in pictures and can't be seen when the truck is on the ground. I will get it fixed before selling the truck. All of the chrome, aqua tinted glass and weather strips were replaced during the restoration. The interior has gray leather power GM buckets and gray tweed Rod Doors panels, The dash houses purple Dakota Digital gauges in a new factory bezel, the controls to the ice cold Vintage Air and a JVC CD player. The sound system is completed with a Kenwood amp and 4 Rockford Fosgate speakers. An IDIDIT tilt column, center console and seat belts round out the interior. The truck was wired with an American Autowire harness that is specific to the truck. It has an under bed 15 gallon aluminum fuel tank with a TPI internal pump, It is kept cool with a custom aluminum radiator with a censor controlled 3000 cfm electric fan.I built the truck to drive so the frame is painted black and it is undercoated. If you're looking for a classic truck don't miss out on this opportunity to own one of the cleanest 56s I've ever seen. Interesting GM trades will be considered and if you have any questions call Brian at 865 908-7731 before 10 PM EST.This truck is listed on other web sites for much more and is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end this listing early. Spring is almost here and it's time to get that new toy you have wanted all winter. *** MAKE ME AN OFFER. THE BOSS SAYS IT NEEDS TO GO***

Nissan Leaf sales double Chevy Volt to close out winning 2014
Mon, Jan 5 2015To close out the year, sales of the two most-popular plug-in vehicles in the US kept going in the direction that they had been all year. The Chevy Volt dropped and the Nissan Leaf had another record month. Sound familiar? The Volt sold 1,490 units in December, a year-to-year drop of 37.7 percent. For all of 2014, Volt sales were down 18.6 percent to just 18,805 (from 23,094 in 2013). On the Nissan side of the ledger, the Leaf sold 3,102 units, up 22.7 percent from the 2,529 sold in December 2013. For the year, Nissan sold 30,200 Leafs, up 33.6 percent from the 22,610 sold in 2013. A few other things to note: For every month in 2014, the Leaf sold more than it did for the same month in 2013. For the Volt, this was only true for three months (April, May and July). Funnily enough, the Volt sold exactly 1,478 units in both March 2013 and 2014. The Volt's 2014 total was lower than both 2013 and 2012, while the Leaf had its best year ever. There were three months in 2014 when people bought at least twice as many Leafs than bought a Volt (September, November, December). The Leaf outsold the Volt every month in 2014. The closest gap was 215 units, in February. The biggest was 1,612, in December. As you've most likely seen, GM is still busy teasing the new Volt, which will make its official debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week. We'll have a more in-depth green car sales post up soon. <iframe embedded="true" "="" scrolling="no" src="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oIuH75vaSHaaplD4x6gLsYjSsiN4oGmez1T63eaYdhY/pubhtml?widget=true&headers=false" height="430"> Nissan celebrates 30,000 leaf sales in 2014, best year ever for sales of any plug-in vehicle NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 5, 2015) – Nissan, the world leader in electric vehicle sales, shattered yet another sales record with 30,200 LEAF vehicles sold in 2014, which is the first time any plug-in has sold more than 30,000 units in a single year. "Now in its fifth model year, Nissan LEAF is more popular than ever and continues to bring new buyers to Nissan," said Brendan Jones, director, Nissan Electric Vehicle Sales and Infrastructure. "From the beginning our vision was to bring electric vehicles to the mass market in a practical and fun-to-drive package, which is what makes Nissan LEAF the best-selling electric car in the world." Last month, Nissan sold 3,102 all-electric LEAFs, up 22.7 percent from the prior year and a December record.
GM says its electric pickup truck is 'in development'
Thu, Jun 6 2019GM President Mark Reuss just reiterated the company's support for an electric pickup project. He also claimed that GM is going to be selling its future electric cars at "very average transaction prices" during the same conference with Wall Street analysts. Previously, Mary Barra informed the world of GM's electric pickup truck aspirations, but didn't tell us anything else. Reuss says the truck is already in development, though, according to a Wards Auto report. "We will have a complete electric lineup, including a pickup truck that's in development," Reuss said. This comment marks the second time GM has gone on the record about its intentions to bring an electric pickup to market. Additionally, Reuss said GM's third-generation global EV platform will be used to help develop the electric pickup. This platform was recently announced to underpin at least 20 new EVs from GM in the future — the platform itself is slated to be unveiled in 2021. Of course, this platform will be flexible and modular to allow various body styles to be used with it, a truck being one of those. Reuss still hasn't said what GM brand the pickup will be sold under, or what class of truck it will be. GM thinks this new platform is also going to be what helps it drive down the cost of building EVs. "We'll reach parity a lot sooner than people think," Reuss said comparing EVs to traditional gas-powered engines. "We're driving down the cost of batteries and the whole EV in general." As for electric pickups, Ford is also deep in development of its own electric F-150. However, neither of these truck projects have official timelines on them, so we can't say when they'll hit the market. For now, the cross-town rivals are both in development with their respective electric pickups. Even further across town is Rivian (in which Ford just invested half a billion dollars), a company that says its electric R1T pickup is right around the corner, with the official due date being end of 2020 for the time being. GM recalls nearly 340,000 large SUVs to fix daytime running lights
Thu, Nov 10 2022General Motors has initiated a recall campaign for more than 338,000 of its large SUVs to address a potential defect in the onboard computer software that controls the daytime running lights. In some cases, the DRLs may remain on even when the headlights are enabled, which creates additional glare for oncoming drivers at night and fails to comply with federal regulations for headlight performance. "GM determined that the body control module (BCM) software in these vehicles, under a combination of certain pre-conditions, may fail to deactivate the DRLs when the headlamps are on," GM's recall report said. "A regulatory assessment was conducted to evaluate whether the condition presented a potential noncompliance with the DRL activation requirements in S7.10.5, Table I-a. of FMVSS 108. On October 27, 2022, GM’s Safety Field Action Decision Authority (SFADA) decided to conduct a recall for potential noncompliance with this standard." GM says the recall covers the 2021 model year GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and 2021 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV. The company says all models produced within that operating window include the improperly programmed body control module, meaning all vehicles within the recall population may exhibit the problem. The issue was discovered by a GM engineer during validation testing in August, prompting a deeper investigation and eventually leading to the recall itself.  The module's software can be updated by GM dealers, so it should be a quick fix for customers. Notifications will be mailed to owners in December. Related video: Recalls Cadillac Chevrolet GMC Ownership Safety SUV Luxury
