The following article from Truck Trend pretty much sums up the exactly what you are getting with this truck.  Like new and in excellent condition.  Very low miles, only 26,402.  Email if interested.

"The crew-cab C4500's base price is $34,086, but ours came equipped with the Duramax turbo-diesel and Allison transmission (and a host of other options) and lists for $48,678. The two-wheel-drive crew cab C4500 came fully decked from the GM factory, with quite a few specialty pieces from truck upfitter Monroe Truck Equipment, which works with the platforms as soon as they come off the line, installing performance, comfort, and/or style-enhancing option packages.

Our truck had the pickup bed (a standard one-ton dualie bed with a few modifications) with a 30,000-pound-rated pop-up gooseneck hitch hidden underneath. In addition, the truck had the Ultra Ride air suspension, which replaces the rear leaf springs with two frame-located airbags that greatly improve the empty ride of the truck and increase overall carrying capacity. We went out of our way to hit speed bumps in parking lots as well as the larger ones communities use to slow drivers down. The bumps weren't as punishing as you'd expect, especially since the truck also was equipped with fully air-suspended seats, offering a full six inches of shock-absorbing travel. Monroe also installed a separate cab air suspension, which includes two additional airbags under the cab, along with two shock absorbers. The result is a tame ride, even when empty, over rough roads--it rode considerably better than any one-ton dualie we've ever driven, and the ride should get even better with a few thousand pounds in the bed.

The heart of the Kodiak is the same Duramax 6600 and Allison six-speed transmission (with PTO) in Silverado and Sierra HD trucks, and although some versions of the Duramax can be tuned to 350 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, the medium-duty versions are not. Our Kodiak numbers are 300 horses and 605 pound-feet. During runs around town, we were most impressed with how smoothly the Allison shifted and ran through the gears. You'd think a powertrain designed to carry and haul in excess of 20,000 pounds would shift abruptly when empty, but that wasn't the case. The new software is better able to detect what types of loads exist and makes more seamless adjustments to the shift pattern. The gearbox holds gears longer than many of the transmissions tuned for maximum fuel economy.

Inside, Monroe replaced the front seats with two air-suspended fully bolstered leather captain's chairs with a solid-oak center console. In back, the three-passenger leather bench seat is electronically controlled and reclines (and folds flat) at the touch of a button. With the seats laid flat, the rear area is converted into a bed large enough for two children to stretch out and sleep, or two adults could cozy up back there. A big-screen DVD player and a six-disc CD audio system and speaker upgrade are also available.

Chevy and GMC medium-duty trucks are sold at GM Fleet and Commercial dealerships, but a truck can be built to your specifications. The Monroe facility is next door to the plant that makes medium-duty GM trucks, outside Chicago. If you need a truck ready to do hard work, there's no substitute for a workhorse like this.

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.

How long will the 'golden age' of performance last?

Sat, Mar 26 2016

High-powered sports and luxury cars were everywhere at the New York Auto Show, prompting the obvious question for enthusiasts: How long will this golden age of performance last? Industry leaders have some time before regulations elevate the Corporate Average Fuel Economy level in 2025. Even then, they expect cars rippling with power to survive in some form. "Is it the end of an era," I don't think so," said Ola Kallenius, Daimler AG board member for Mercedes-Benz cars marketing and sales. "That performance element of individual mobility I don't think will ever go away." Kallenius, who oversaw the company's AMG division from 2010-2013, expects it to continue to grow. Last year, AMG sold a record 68,875 units around the world, an increase of 44.6 percent over 2014, with strong growth in the US, China, and Germany. Still, there's always the potential for gas to spike, and pending fuel economy regulations are looming. That could lead AMG to add electrification to its products, Kallenius said, pointing to the electric SLS as a test case. Chevy is also thinking ahead, said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer of the Camaro. He wouldn't bite when asked about electrification for the Camaro (he did say "never say never"), but admitted in 2025 "it's going to be pretty tough to sell V8s." For now, things are rosy for muscle cars, and Chevy confidently showcased the 640-hp Camaro ZL1 in coupe and convertible form in New York. "I think that this is truly the golden age of performance," Oppenheiser said. It's hard to disagree. News & Analysis News: The 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF was a show-stopper in New York. Analysis: There was a palpable energy when this RF — for Retractable Fastback — was revealed the night before the show at a trendy off-site venue near the Hudson River. Even as a parade of SUVs and flashy luxury cars rolled out the rest of the week, the Miata remained a hot topic. The Retractable Fastback is really a clever targa top, with part of the roof stowing behind the seats, adding about 100 pounds compared to the standard convertible. It makes the car more practical and arguably more attractive. The RF continues Mazda's tradition of selling the Miata with a hardtop variant. The first and second generations offered a detachable one, and a power retractable hardtop (a $1,700 option) was available on third-gen models. Judging by its reception in New York, the RF could prove to be even more popular than its predecessors.

Corvette Stolen In Detroit Returned To Owner After 33 Years

Wed, Jun 25 2014

A Detroit man had his stolen Corvette returned 33 years after it disappeared while parked on one of Detroit's main drags, according to ABC 7. The last time George Talley saw his 1979 Corvette was on a July day in 1981, when it disappeared from its parking spot on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit. He had given up hope of ever seeing his car again, until a phone call from AAA brought his sporty ride home. Authorities had come across a Corvette with a questionable VIN in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. When they ran the number Talley's stolen car report came up. The car is still in pretty good shape and only has 47,000 miles on the odometer. Talley wasn't sure how he could get the car back home, but General Motors stepped in and agreed to cover the cost of bringing the 'Vette home. Talley has always had a passion for Detroit-made muscle cars. "I've always liked Corvettes. It was attractive. The ladies like 'em," Talley told ABC 7.
