1953 Chevrolet 3100 Hot Rod Pickup 327 V-8 on 2040-cars
Draper, Utah, United States
1953 Chevrolet 3100 Street Rod runs and drives excellent,
very quick. The body is mostly stock with a few
mods, shaved handles and bear jaw latches installed for safety and looks. New glass all the way around and, custom
headliner and seat installed. Custom leather
wrapped steering wheel Stewart Warner and Mallory gauges installed. All of the trim has been chromed for that
cool old street rod look. Custom door
handles inside and door panels very simple but looks great. Polished Stainless steel firewall looks
really sharp sets off the engine. The
rear sheet metal and wood is a new kit from Mar K with new steel rear fenders
as well. The wood is Oak with a dark Walnut
stain and polished stainless steel strips looks excellent when shines off the
bedsides. The roll pan under the
tailgate is custom with louvers and LED 53 Pontiac taillights. Also the custom stainless steel fuel tank had
been relocated under the bed for safety.
The filler neck has been left in the original location and blocked for
old-school looks. The grille is a
reproduction chrome unit that really pops and also has custom LED park/turn
signals. I also have a hood available
that has a peak added but is not finished that goes with the truck, but I feel
the truck looks pretty mean without it. The
engine is a 1965 Corvette block numbers FOII4HH, 3782870 with 2.02 double hump
heads. There have been many
modifications to the engine balanced high compression pistons, roller rockers
all the old school go fast goodies.
Weiand tunnel ram intake with two 650 CFM Carter AFB’s. Sounds very good at the local cruise nights
with the header plugs open. The
transmission is a TCI prepped TH350 with a manual automatic valve body and 3000
stall TCI torque converter. Also there
is a B&M star shifter with slapper setting.
The rear end is a GM 10 bolt that has been rebuilt with new bearings,
new auburn limited slip carrier and new 3:73 Richmond gears. In total the truck only has 79 miles on it
since it has been put together. The truck handles and stops great
with the 67’ Camaro sub-frame with discs up front and drums in the rear. The front end has had all of the bushings and
ball-joints replaced and new coils have been installed as well. This truck is a great driver with plenty of
power to get you into trouble and upset the neighbors if you want to. This truck just needs some TLC and little finishing touches just selling it because other projects have taken priority. |

Corvette Z06. Nissan GT-R Nismo. Motor Trend Head 2 Head. 'Nuff said.
Wed, Feb 11 2015Here is a video we've been waiting for, one that will get broadband fiber optic cables glowing like Hooker headers on a dyno. For Episode 62 of Head 2 Head, Motor Trend throws the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 into the bear pit with the latest Nissan GT-R Nismo. What comes out of that is seventeen minutes of don't-look-away video. We're only going to give you the specs. The 3,527-pound Z06 gets on with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 650 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, applied to the wheels via a seven-speed manual transmission. With the Z07 performance package appended it has a front splitter and winglets, and a three-section rear spoiler among its aero aids. The tested model also wore carbon ceramic brakes, which helped push its $89,985 MSRP out to $105,210. The 3,881-pound GT-R Nismo plays the underdog – again – with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 spitting out 600 hp and 481 lb-ft, yoked to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The GT-R left its 'performance bargain' days behind years ago, and this top-shelf version starts at $151,585 but has almost everything it can get, so the as-tested price was only a skosh more at $151,880. We're not going to tell you any more than that. Click on the video and let Carlos Lago and his two mean minions tell you a story you won't soon forget. Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction
Sun, 17 Feb 2013It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
