SELLER REMARKS |
![]() |
Popular cars are popular for a reason, and cars like this 1972 Nova remain a longstanding best-seller here at Streetside Classics. A combination of good looks, rumbling V8s, and a spacious, useful interior that works well is what makes this cars so great. This one is a special one though. Only 6,822 "Sky Roof" Novas were built for the 1972 model year, very few remain, and this is one of them. And it is believed to have only 49,917 original miles!
The square-jawed Nova sure looks good. With chiseled contours that make it look like it was carved from a block of granite, this little Nova obviously doesn't put up with pretenders on the street. Its glossy black paint gives it a sinister demeanor, daring others to give it a run, but the smart ones know that light weight and a V8 mean that it'll be a handful no matter what they're driving. This two-door still looks great which is a tribute to the workmanship and care it has received since. Straight sheetmetal and great gaps mean that they took their time, and the bright, shiny paint has been properly maintained to retain its gloss, especially important on black cars. But the highlight of this car is the vinyl roof that has the "Sky Roof" option, allowing a large portion of the vinyl to fold back on sliding rails to expose a large viewing area of a site of your choice once you peel off Main Street. There is enough chrome in place to make it sparkle, including the hood inserts that just look cool, plus a blacked-out SS grille and tail panel for a bit of attitude. Rally wheels measuring 14'' in diameter add a bit more flex to that muscular stance.
The black vinyl and cloth interior presents as new and everything remains stock, even the original bench still resides up front. A matching bench in the rear is covered in taut materials and the carpets, door panels, and dash pad all remain in good condition with a contrasting wood appliqu on the doors. The factory gauges remain, as well as an AM radio and controls for the factory air conditioning. The steering wheel is an SS unit and it fits right in to the nostalgic interior. Of course overhead is the best part where the roof slides back. It's a unique package that will surely please on comfortable sunny days and clear, summer nights.
V8 power in a lightweight package makes for impressive performance, and the 350 cubic inch Chevy small block delivers. Believed to be original to the car, the four-barrel equipped small block exhales through aftermarket headers and a 2.5'' dual exhaust for a great soundtrack, this Nova certainly walks and talks like a true muscle car. It has all the virtues you'd expect of Chevy's famous small block and none of the vices. A 3-speed automatic translates the power to a 10-bolt rear end for quick launches off the line. Controlling that power is 225/70/14 BF Goodrich Radial T/As at all fours, with power steering and power brakes augmenting the ride.
Fast, inexpensive fun was always the Nova's promise, and this one still delivers. With a rare "Sky Roof" option, this particular one delivers just a bit more fun than your average hard top. Lock in your chance to own a car that provides a lot of bang for the buck. Call today!

Back in 2018, Chevy invited me to attend the Detroit Auto Show on the company dime to get an early preview of the then-newly redesigned Silverado. The trip involved a stay at the Renaissance Center — just a quick People Mover ride from the show. IÂ’d been visiting Detroit in January for nearly a decade, and not once had I set foot inside General MotorsÂ’ glass-sided headquarters. I was intrigued, to say the least. Thinking back on my time in the buildings that GM will leave behind when it departs for the new Hudson's site on Woodward Avenue, two things struck me. For one, its hotel rooms are cold in January. Sure, itÂ’s glass towers designed in the 1960s and '70s; I calibrated my expectations accordingly. But when I could only barely see out of the place for all the ice forming on the inside of the glass, it drove home just how flawed this iconic structure is. My second and more pertinent observation was that the RenCen doesnÂ’t really feel like itÂ’s in a city at all, much less one as populous as Detroit. The complex is effectively severed from its surroundings by swirling ribbons of both river and asphalt. To the west sits the Windsor tunnel entrance; to the east, parking lots for nearly as far as the eye can see. To its north is the massive Jefferson Avenue and to its south, the Detroit River. You get the sense that if Henry Ford II and his team of investors had gotten their way, the whole thing would have been built offshore with the swirling channel doubling as a moat. This isnÂ’t a building the draws the city in; itÂ’s one designed to keep it out. Frost on the inside of the RenCen hotel glass. Contrasted with the new Hudson's project GM intends to move into, a mixed-use anchor with residential, office, retail and entertainment offerings smack-dab in Detroit's most vibrant district, the RenCen is a symbol of an era when each office in DetroitÂ’s downtown was an island in a rising sea of dilapidation. Back then, those who fortified against the rapid erosion of DetroitÂ’s urban bedrock stood the best chance of surviving. This was the era that brought us ugly skyways and eventually the People Mover — anything to help suburban commuters keep their metaphorical feet dry. The RenCen offered — and still offers — virtually any necessity and plenty of nice-to-haves, all accessible without ever venturing outside, especially in the winter, but those enticements are geared to those who trek in from suburbia to toil in its hallways.

It's not news that General Motors is working on a $30,000 electric vehicle with a 200-mile range. Then-CEO Dan Akerson said as much back in 2013. What we've heard before is that this mystery EV will be based on the Chevrolet Sonic and will will arrive in 2017. So, if that's all correct, then it would make sense that confirmation of this plan would come at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, which is just around the corner. And lookee here... The Wall Street Journal is reporting that GM will unveil a concept Chevy Bolt at the Detroit show on Monday. That name sure makes sense, too, since GM registered that trademark back in August. According to the Journal, the rumored numbers – 200-mile range, $30,000 price – are still what's expected. Some new purported details are that the battery will come from LG Chem, which also makes the Volt's batteries, and that the Bolt will be a crossover that could be sold around the world. This all smacks of a preemptive strike against the Tesla Model 3, which is also due around 2017. Currently, GM sells the Spark EV in limited areas of the US, despite a lot of excitement for wider availability. To sell a 200-mile EV for $30,000 means that GM and LG Chem will likely have drastically reduced the cost of making a big plug-in vehicle battery. What this means for the new Volt and GM's future plans is something we're more than a little excited about to learn more of on Monday, the same day that we get to see the redesigned Chevy Volt for the first time. Well, aside from the CES teaser. Green Chevrolet Crossover Electric 2015 Detroit Auto Show Chevy Bolt bolt

Chevy's goal at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week seems to be to show as much of its Performance and Accessories catalog as possible. That's why it brought three different Camaros - two with V8s and one powered by a V6 - with all of the best goodies from the catalog already fitted.
We gave a more in-depth recap of the Performance Camaro V8 Concept, the Performance Camaro V6 Concept and the Performance Garage Concept already, but we figured you'd like a short recap for each. It should be noted, though, that you can order all of the items you see here for your own Camaro, so be sure to take a long, hard look at our live galleries, just in case you're in the market for some mods.
Essentially, the Performance Garage Concept and the Performance V8 Concept are the same car - the only difference is that the later features a whole host of aesthetic tweaks in addition to its aftermarket, shorty exhaust headers and 2.75-inch exhaust. (The Performance Garage Concept has been usefully placed on its side; the better to see the new parts added to the vehicle.) The Performance V6 Concept is notable because, despite being a V6, there's no shortage of performance goodies fitted. All three of the Performance Camaros benefit from items from the Camaro ZL1, which can also be ordered through the catalog.
