According to VIN decoder this car was original V8 sport coupe 2 door from the factory but not an SS. It has since had a V8 350/TH350 automatic 3 speed shifter w/shift kit on the floor installed. Overview of features that I am aware of. Edelbrock high rise 4bbl manifold and edelbrock carburetor. Believe it is a 3.08 limited slip rear. Front fenders were replaced. Quarters were replaced. Floor replaced. Most of this work was done in 80's according to previous owner. Front end was rebuilt and power steering was removed early 90's. Has original radio. Has multi leaf springs put in not original mono leaf. Dual exhaust. Bucket seats, carpet redone. Glass windows all good and all roll up and down rear two require a bit more effort but do work. Recently had new radiator installed and starter. Has 14" cragar mag wheels. Tires have decent tread. I have been the owner for past 7yrs. Vehicle has been inspected past 7yrs and RUNS and DRIVES. Unfortunately it doesn't get out on the road to often and has been sitting in garage for majority of time I have had it. Ok now for all the bad stuff I can think of. Car is solid for the most part but It does have some rust, I tried to show in photos where some of the problem areas are so please refer to them. Headliner is shot but I have brand new one in the box. driver seat has slight tear in it refer to photo. Weather striping is in need of replacement. Some chrome has some discoloration and some pitting. Has original drum brakes which were recently worked on but they are a little grabby possibly due to lack of driving and may need to be reworked on. Has exhaust leak. Motor and trans both run good. Valve cover gasket leak and possibly transmission seal or pan. Just recently vibration has started. Not confirmed but believe culprit may be fan clutch. Is in need of paint job. That's about everything I can think of. BONUS..please refer to the photos. All the spare parts you see in the photos I'm including with the car to the highest bidder!!! If you have other questions please ask and I will try to answer them. Car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to stop auction at any time. Car is fun to drive but is in need of some TLC, could be used as a daily driver or could be a good project car! Thanks for looking!

National Corvette Museum to recreate sinkhole experience for patrons [UPDATE]

Sun, May 10 2015

UPDATE: The Thunderdome at the National Corvette Museum is not a ride; instead it's an experience that mixes digital graphics and thundering sound. For a brief period, it looked like the National Corvette Museum was going to preserve that sinkhole that ate eight important 'Vettes last year. After all, tourism boomed there afterwards. However, keeping the crater would have been more expensive than just doing the repairs. The museum isn't ready to let people completely forget, though, and now intends to make a major attraction out of a recreated version of the calamity. The museum's plan turns the sinkhole disaster into an amusement park ride called the Thunderdome, according to GM Authority. In a smaller recreation of the Skydome, 15 people at a time would get to watch an imitation of the sinkhole devouring the eight Corvettes. To make the experience even more immersive, visitors would get to view this all from an artificial, underground cave. If you missed seeing the actual pit, this would certainly be a bizarre way to experience it. According to GM Authority, the exhibit would also include an explanation of how sinkholes occur. The Corvette museum reportedly wants the attraction open by this fall.

How real is the Chevy Bolt EV and will it really cost $30,000?

Tue, Jan 13 2015

"This is us bragging that we can do this kind of car." That's how Michael Simcoe, GM's executive director for NA exteriors, described the Chevy Bolt EV concept, which made a surprise appearance at the Detroit Auto Show today. While there was talk of a 2017 production debut, this is for sure a concept vehicle. But that means the ideas behind the vehicle are perhaps more important than the details. For example, no one is talking about what size battery might appear in a production Bolt, but Simcoe would talk about how rapid progress in battery improvements made it possible for GM to make the bold Bolt declaration that promises 200 miles and a price tag of around $30,000 (after incentives). But if the Bolt makes it to market, it won't be until 2017 (as rumored) or later, is it really fair to promote the car as being available with a federal tax credit? For one thing, credits for plug-in vehicles may change in the next few years, but if the laws stay the same, each manufacturer is limited to 200,000 vehicles before the credits start to decline. GM is justifiably proud that it's sold over 70,000 Volts thus far, but with a new model coming out later this year and a few years to go until the Bolt potentially arrives, GM could be pushing right up against that 200,000 limit when the Bolt goes on sale. But Volt executive chief engineer Pam Fletcher told AutoblogGreen that, "We're just trying to take some of the confusion out." "Think about talking to the average consumer," she said. "First, going through the explanation of how the federal tax credit was set up, how it's being used and so on. [In the industry, we] have the luxury of understanding the nuances of that regulation, but right now people who aren't in the marketplace, they don't have the luxury of all that. It's already hard to communicate the details so we gave them data in a way that is what they're used to seeing." There was one question that drove the two-year Bolt gestation and design period, Simcoe said: What does a better battery offer a vehicle designer? "We've got a number of spaces we play in for powertrain technology and obviously electrification is one of them," he said. "With Volt 1 and then the Spark EV, with that development and batteries getting better for us, we started doing some practical packaging to deliver a vehicle which was not the traditional aero form which you see around electric vehicles.
