I bought this car about 2 years ago and have been in the process of restoring it. This car is in excellent condition and you won't find too many '73 Nova's in this good a shape. The body is in perfect condition without a single scratch or dent.
This is car is 100% rust free. It was built in the old GM plant in Van Nuys and has never left California. It is NOT an East Coast car. Nova enthusiasts know that the hatchbacks in 73 and 74 were very prone to rust in the trunk/hb lid. I had the entire hatchback and trunk lid nearly re-built. It was stripped and all the rust damage was repaired. It was resealed and then repainted. There is no rust anywhere else in the car.
It does not have the original small block engine. about 7-8 years ago it had an Edelbrock 350 c.i/483 hp V8 dropped in it. This engine still runs very very good. The car starts up every time and never misses a beat. I'll be honest though - this engine delivers SS power but it will not melt the rubber off the tires. It's fast but I wouldn't compete at the Pomona straight away just yet. I increased HP by adding an MSD ignition boost/distributor which made a big difference. If I were to complete the restoration the only thing left to do is to drop in a new engine. This one runs so well that it was last on the list.
- Edelbrock 350 c.i/483 hp V8
- 3 speed automatic transmission
- Centerline rims and Hankkook and Firestone tires.
- no A/C or heat. Heater core is there but needs to be replaced
The price is a combination of what I paid and what I put into it. Here's what I've done:
- Interior completely redone: new seats (not redone seats. NEW seats), new carpets, new mats, new dash parts including the hard to find dash bezel and speedo. Also found a replica vintage radio that has an iPod connector. Perfect condition.
- Front, center and rear bumper fillers replaced.
- Front disc brakes installed replacing factor drum brakes. The kit was bought at Classic Industries and installed at Bagge and Sons in Culver City. Here's the kit:

- MSD Ignition/distributor kid and spark plug cables - replaced all the old cables with high performance MSD products.
- all four shocks, springs and control arm bushings replaced. The car rides smooth after I replaced all of that.
- Hatchback/trunk lid taken off, stripped, rebuilt and re-installed
- Frequent tune-ups and timing adjustments
Nearly all repair paperwork available.
The car is located in Culver City and kept under a car cover. Since I've owned it it's been driven about 50 miles a week tops.
Price lowered: leaving country, must sell. $13,500.00

GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC
Sun, 06 Oct 2013American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.
2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette wastes no time zooming into Jay Leno's Garage
Thu, 24 Jan 2013Where else would you expect the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to show up first? Although this time it isn't exactly in Jay Leno's Garage, Leno instead playing an away game at Brown's Classic Auto in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nor does Leno drive the car, instead taking an 11-minute walkaround of the new American sports car with General Motors design head Ed Welburn, the same man who recently brought by a string of classic Corvettes to the talk show host's California compound.
It is, admittedly, a love-fest for the American sports car now featuring 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, but one that also features admissions about previous Corvette seats like "they were kinda rough," and the explanation that labeling the coupe "Stingray" means not having to call it "the base Corvette." On top of that, Welburn also explains the proper application of the term "dashboard." You can watch it all in the video below.
Bob Lutz builds the case for a mid-engined Corvette
Fri, Jan 16 2015Rumors of a mid-engine Corvette are like automotive industry folklore at this point. Every once in a while, news pops up that it might be happening or is under development, but nothing actually ever comes to fruition as something people can actually buy. The latest spy shots strongly suggest a mid-engine 'Vette is in the cards, yet again, possibly for 2018. Now, an op ed by former General Motors executive (and definite performance car fan) Bob Lutz in Road & Track gives the inside scoop on the history of one of these proposals and lays out how to make it happen today. According to Lutz, the company's engineers believed the C6 ZR1 was at the limit for front-engine, rear-wheel drive performance in that package, and the only solution was to move the powerplant behind the driver. Lutz even got then CEO Rick Wagoner on board. The scheme made it at least as far as clay models for mid-engine versions of the 'Vette and Cadillac XLR. Eventually, a lack of money got in the way, though, bringing the project to an end. Lutz puts a lot of faith in GM's current leaders, especially Mary Barra and Mark Reuss. He thinks the chances of a mid-engine 'Vette happening this time are better than 50 percent. The model, rumored to be named Zora, could offer over 700 horsepower in an ultra lightweight body and be priced at about $120,000 to "suck the doors off everybody." Head over to Road & Track to get some insights from this highly respected and entertaining auto industry veteran. Related Video:
