Chevy exec confirms SS production model reveal at Daytona on Feb 16

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet SS will make its racing debut for the 2013 Daytona 500, but the production version of the car will get its official unveiling on February 16 in Daytona, a week before The Great American Race. According to a report by Automotive News, the reveal has been confirmed by Jim Campbell, Chevy's US vice president of performance and motorsports. With the departure of the Dodge Charger, the new Chevrolet racecar will be the only competitor to feature a V8, rear-wheel-drive layout in both street and NASCAR form.
NASCAR fans will be able to see the new fullsize performance-oriented sedan on display in the festivities leading up to the Daytona 500, but the car won't go on sale until later in the year. The Australian-built Chevy SS will be a low-volume performance model, and it will be priced above the 2014 Impala, which starts at $27,535.

Every month, Autoblog slogs through all the sales figures reported by automakers that do business in the United States, and, after a little bit of sorting, we put it into an easy-to-read chart in an attempt to make it as easy as possible to follow the ins and outs of sales and shipments. But that only covers the brands themselves, not the individual models they sell. And we think you'd all be interested in knowing which vehicles beat their rivals in sales from month to month, so we've put together this handy gallery to keep you in the know. While the leader of the pack may not come as much of a surprise, the order that the top ten finishes in changes frequently – due to automaker deals, the price of gas, etc. – and we've included some statistics to help you see how their current performance stacks up to month's past. Jay Leno drives Joe Rogan's '65 Chevy Corvette restomod

Tue, Sep 1 2015

Restomod classics often look great rolling down the road, but they can be an absolute mess underneath. That's the problem comedian Joe Rogan discovered after purchasing his 1965 Corvette convertible that was already extensively modified. Once work began to improve it further, some serious issues were discovered. Now, Rogan's rejuvenated 'Vette has received a thorough update on the latest, extra-long edition of Jay Leno's Garage. Rogan's additional upgrades include a new interior and adding nacelles behind the seats. Power is up thanks to a supercharger for the LS1 V8. Now only do you get to hear the engine roar, but Leno and Rogan also take the convertible for a long ride in the Los Angeles hills. They reminisce about liking cars as kids, the current state of General Motors, and Rogan's work with the UFC. Leno also shares a funny story about a confusing discussion with Marlon Brando. With the beautiful 'Vette and the great conversation, there's a lot here to like. Related Video:
