Ok, I have a 1970 SS Nova for sale. Ill give all the info I have on the car. I normally play with F Body cars and older Corvettes. I traded a 1972 Corvette that I did over the winter for this Nova. I got it as an SS 4 speed but after doing some research I found out its a factory big block car. I don't have a build sheet for it but it has all the correct parts that came with the big block cars, Doesn't look to have been restored just repainted. Ok the car. The 396 is gone and has a 1968 HI suffix code 327 in it now. It has 1974 350 heads on it. 1.5 roller rockers and a Comp 270h cam in it. Has an Edelbrock performer intake and 750 carb, Headers and a Flowmaster dual exhaust with the transverse muffler on it. Engine runs good and has good power but has a slight header leak. Leaks a little from the pan. 18J156373 T1106HI The trans in the original Muncie 4 speed, numbers come back to M21 but is probably an M22 You would have to pull the inspection cover to tell. Clutch is good shifts into all gears smoothly except 4th, grinds a little going into 4th unless you shift really easy, could be just a shifter adjustment. 385784 1QW273699 POB11B 3088336 332566 Rear end in Dated correctly for the car and is a CBT 12 bolt (L78 only) Has at least had one axle replaced. Doesn't make any funny noises and drives fine. Leaks a little from front seal. CBT0225G1 The Nova is a running driving car. Its actually kinda fun to drive but deserves to be properly restored. It has had work done on the quarter panel lips and they were cut to clear wide tires at one time. The repaint and bodywork is FAIR but is not show quality, I was told it was repainted in 2007 and was never wetsanded and buffed, The front passenger fender was replaced at that time. All the rest of the panels appear to be original and solid. With the exception of the work on the quarter lips and bottom rear. The trunk has had a could of patches welded in and has a few small holes but still very solid over all. The floors, framerails, Subframe, bodymounts and rocker panels are very solid, the drivers floor has a few very small pin holes. The interior needs redone but is all there. I haven't pulled anything apart so there may be a build sheet in there, The carpet looks to be original but the seats look to have been recovered long ago, you never know. I wont pull it apart to look, If I pull it apart then Ill have to redo it. The car runs drives shifts starts and stops, has new shocks all around and new springs on the front. Had the front end aligned and it drives pretty good. Has a little shake around 60 mph so tires need balanced or replaced. I got the car basically like it is and just got it to be safe to drive on the road so you can drive and tinker with it until you decide to tear it down and restore it properly. I can answer questions in the evenings as I work days, Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer, I will make the car available for shipment but it is the buyers responsibility to set it up. |

GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible
Wed, Aug 1 2018The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else? GM will recall 3.5 million pickups and SUVs to fix brake issue
Wed, Sep 11 2019WASHINGTON — General Motors Co is recalling 3.46 million U.S. pickup trucks and SUVs to address a vacuum pump issue that could make braking more difficult and increase the risk of a crash. The recall, which covers 2014-2018 model year vehicles, including some Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon vehicles, was triggered because the amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time, GM told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in documents posted Wednesday. NHTSA opened a preliminary investigation into the issue in November 2018, and said it had reports of 9 crashes and two injuries related to the issue. It provided GM in July with additional field reports that prompted the automaker to open an investigation. The company did not immediately say on Wednesday how many injuries or crashes are linked to the issue but said it could impact braking in "rare circumstances." GM said dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module with a new calibration that will improve how the system utilizes the hydraulic brake boost assist function when vacuum assist is depleted. GM said the vacuum assist pump, which is lubricated with engine oil that flows into the pump through a filter screen, can in some cases lose effectiveness over time, as debris such as oil sludge can accumulate on the filter screen. GM told NHTSA that prior model years used a different brake assist system design, and vehicles manufactured after 2018 were not equipped with the affected pump design. Recalls Chevrolet GM GMC
2016 Chevy Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition brings track style to the road
Fri, Apr 24 2015The Chevrolet Corvette has a long history of excelling at endurance racing, and continues to dominate today. To celebrate that legacy, Chevy is bringing some of the look of its track machine to the road with the 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition. These machines might be gone faster than the racecar's lap time around Le Mans, because the company is building just 500 of them. All of these track-inspired, special editions are based on the 650-horsepower, supercharged Z06 in the top 3LZ trim, and they also come equipped with the Z07 Performance Package that includes carbon-ceramic brakes, adjustable aero elements, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Offered as a coupe or convertible, these 'Vettes use some tricks to match the style of the C7.R. They're available in the racer's traditional bright yellow livery, but black is optional. Unpainted carbon fiber trim (including material for the hood) and grilles that are painted Spectra Gray Metallic also add to the motorsport look. The car rides on a set of black wheels with Corvette Racing logos on the center caps. Inside, buyers of this limited edition are nestled in Competition Sport Seats that are upholstered in Jet Black leather. Suede microfiber accents with yellow stitching cover the steering wheel, gearshift, instrument panel and doors. Plus, there's some additional carbon fiber trim for good measure. Each car also comes with a cover with C7.R graphics. Chevy isn't disclosing the price for the Z06 C7.R Edition yet, but the limited edition model is slated to hit the market later this year. It's offered in Corvette Racing's signature yellow livery – or black – with coordinated exterior and interior accents. Only 500 examples of the C7.R Edition will be built and all will include the Z07 Performance Package with carbon ceramic brakes, as well as a specially serialized vehicle identification number. They go on sale later this year. "Corvette Racing's legacy and technology were significant influences on the development of the Corvette Z06 and the new C7.R Edition honors the direct link between the racecar and the production model," said Harlan Charles, Corvette product and marketing manager.
