You are looking at a 1968 L79 Nova with the 327 325HP engine known as the L79. This car is 1 of 1274 cars ordered with the rare L79 motor option in the 1968 Chevrolet Nova. This is a factory floor shift 3 speed car with factory air condition. Only 317 cars didn't get upgraded from a three speed to a four speed. This Borg Warner M13 3 speed was the factory default transmission for the L79 and the L48 Super sport.

The car is fully documented back to the original owner. Documentation includes the GM warranty protecto plate, original broadcast sheet, a copy of the original tittle and original registration. This car had a 2 year full rotisserie restoration. Everything is either rebuilt, re-plated, or replaced. A huge list of NOS parts were used. No expense was spared. The car was just featured in the March issue of Hemming's Muscle Machine magazine a 6 page restoration profile article.

To clear up a little information on the driveline that is in the car. The day the original owner picked up the car the motor failed 2 miles from the dealership. A replacement L79 short block was installed under warranty. The L79 block casting is 3914678 a large journal block and the casting date is I-22-7 The transmission is original to the car and matches the GM protecto plate. The rear is original and matches the GM protecto plate. The L79 is built to factory specs 11:1 30 over. I have 100's of pictures of the restoration which was done by me. GM laying off 500 workers to slow Chevy Sonic production

Due to slow sales of the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, General Motors is cutting a shift at the Orion Township plant that builds the pair. The move lays off about 500 workers, but most of them are expected to get offers to transfer to other factories, Automotive News reports. The move came just a day after GM announced adding 1,200 employees to the Detroit-Hamtramck plant. GM has been trying all year at the Orion Township factory to align production of the Sonic and Verano with their demand. The automaker first attempted idling the plant several times and eventually resorted to laying off about 100 workers. It also reduced the production rate there. With the huge rise in popularity of crossovers, demand for the plant's small cars is on the downturn. According to Automotive News, there's currently a 116-day supply of Sonics and 100 days of Veranos to sell. Delivers tell a similar tale because the Chevy is off 35.2 percent from January to September, and the Buick does little better with a 27.2 percent drop from the same period last year. While the situation at Orion Township might look rough now, big things are on the horizon. Soon, the new Chevy Bolt electric vehicle will be built there when it hits the market around 2017. Plus, the plant will also get a $245-million upgrade and 300 new jobs for another, unannounced vehicle.

Hertz and GM team up to put 175,000 rental EVs on the road

Hertz and General Motors have announced a significant partnership that will send up to 175,000 electric vehicles into rental fleets across the country. The deal will unfold over the next five years and include vehicles from all GM brands. Â The partnership will run through 2027. Hertz estimates that the electric fleet can save as many as 8 billion gasoline-powered miles, removing 1.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide-equivalent emissions from the air. Hertz says it will invest in becoming the largest renter of EVs in North America and notes that it already has tens of thousands available at 500 locations in 38 states. By the end of 2024, it plans to electrify a quarter of its fleet. Electric rental cars are a great way for travelers wanting to avoid gas, and they make excellent urban commuter cars. Hertz will also likely save a few dollars by avoiding oil changes and other routine maintenance that gas engines need. However, a hidden societal benefit of this deal may come when Hertz’s EV rental customers begin shopping for new cars. Many people are skeptical of EVs for various reasons, including range, charging, ease of operation, and cost. Giving people a low-risk introduction to EVs and the ability to test-drive one without a pressuring salesperson could drive more people to electrics. At the same time, there's also the risk that renters wanting to take their Hertz-GM EV on a road trip into sparsely populated areas may return with charging and range-related horror stories. Hertz currently doesnÂ’t ask what youÂ’re planning to do with your rental, but it does offer a chat service for questions, and range information is presented clearly on each vehicle.
