87 Monte Carlo Ss on 2040-cars
Suffolk, Virginia, United States
This SS started out as a rust free car that I totally dismantled and rebuilt from ground up to make this a really nice weekend driver.
The car is painted Flame Red Metallic base/clear that has been scuffed and buffed to give it this beautiful shine. All new weather strips/felts/rubber with new Stainless Steel powder coated T Top gasket retainers. It has a 2 1/2" Harwood fiberglass cowl induction hood that has been smoothed out on the underside to give it a really clean look. The 305 engine runs great and has a new timing chain/gaskets/seals/starter/water pump and all new ignition components. The 200R trans has been resealed, the rear end is a 3:73 limited slip with new bearings/seals/bushings and brakes. The rear suspension has 2" lowering springs/front has cut coils with new Nitro Drop Shocks all the way around. The wheels are 17 X 9 Torque Thrust II with new Nitto 255/50/17 rear and 225/50/17 front. The front suspension has all new Moog idler arm/tie rods/bushings/ball joints and brakes. The interior is dyed black and platnium with new carpet. The console is in great shape with a new lid. The dash does not have any cracks and come with a dash cover to protect it. I have a nice set of GM T top covers and a California Car Cover in the trunk that goes with the car. I have the reserve set lower than the amount of parts and material that I have tied up in this very nice SS. Buyer must make a $500.00 non refundable deposit within 48 hours and paid in full within 7 days of auction ending. Buyer must arrange for local pick up or schedule for a transport vendor to pick up. On Nov-07-13 at 13:59:41 PST, seller added the following information: The entire chassis from front to back has been powertooled, prepped and painted with Eastwood chassis black, along with detailing the steering linkage and other front end components in other OEM style look paint. The car did not and does not have any rust around the rear frame rails, trunk, inner fenders etc. This is a clean rust free car when this build started. |

Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own
Tue, 22 Jan 2013It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
Recharge Wrap-up: Detroit Electric teaser video, Nissan Leaf is Good Housekeeping "Tried and Tested"
Mon, Oct 20 2014Detroit Electric has a new teaser video and has updated its brand in preparation of the introduction of the SP:01. The refreshed logo uses a blue and white color palette, and the company has also given its website a new look. The teaser video, which gives a sneak peek at the exterior of the SP:01, shows the car taking form in the midst of an electrical storm. Watch the video or learn more in the press release below. Abengoa is celebrating the grand opening of a commercial scale cellulosic ethanol plant in Hugoton, KS. When running at full scale, the refinery will produce up to 25 million gallons of ethanol a year. The plant will also generate enough electricity to power itself and put some back into the grid. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz was on hand for the dedication, saying, "Every gallon of cellulosic ethanol produced and used to fuel our vehicles reduces the impact of harmful greenhouse gas emissions by greater than 60 percent as compared to conventional gasoline." Learn more at Energy.gov. Good Housekeeping has named the Nissan Leaf one of its "Tried and Tested" vehicles. The magazine called the Leaf SL its top "Roomy Electric" vehicle in its November issue. The magazine's research institute evaluated the EV based on track and road driving, ergonomics and convenience features. Good Housekeeping made note of the car's "impressive" range, but according to Nissan's Fred Diaz, "the real beauty of the Nissan Leaf is that it's roomy and, best of all, fun to drive." Read more in the press release below. Quasar Energy Group produces compressed natural gas from sewage and garbage. It uses things like grains leftover from brewing Budweiser, food waste from a baseball stadium and sewage sludge to produce the gas through anaerobic digestion. The compressed gas can then be used to power cars like Chevrolet's Bi-fuel Impala, which goes on sale later this year. Chevrolet likens the situation to the Delorean time machine in the Back To The Future movie series, which uses garbage to fuel its fusion generator. GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.
