Please note I am selling this for my neighbor who does not have ebay or paypal so if you have any questions it may take me a little bit to get back to you, I am assuming at most 24 hours.  If you wish to speak with him directly please contact me through ebay and I will provide you with his phone number.

This auction is for a 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, Vin# 1G1GZ11G6JP101325. The 1988 year was the last year Chevrolet made this style Monte Carlo SS and it was only made for 3 months. This one has 59052 original miles on it and has never been wrecked or raced.

He is the original owner, the vehicle was purchased and used in South Florida only so it has never seen the road salt of northern states. It runs/drives great and is mostly original and unmolested though the hood has been replaced with another original O.E.M. GM Monte Carlo hood due to the rust which was completely through the original hood. Also the shocks, springs, brakes and radiator have  all been replaced.

As you can see from the pictures the vehicles needs restoration. The roof and trunk have rust and in some spots there are holes from the rust. You can see some in the pictures, spots covered in a silver tape have holes and in other areas you can see the rust eaten through by the trunk.

Walking around the car myself I made a few observations which I feel should be mentioned.

-front passenger side turn signal glass is broken

-hood springs are shot and will not hold up the hood

-The headliner needs to be replaced

-Several small dings and dents in the body

-tires have cracks (dry rot)

-a lot of the rubber on the car had dry rot

Again, as stated before the car needs restoration but it does run and drive well. The vehicle is being sold AS-IS with no warranty.  If you would like to see any additional pictures I would be happy to take pictures of whatever you would like to see.

Please ask all questions prior to bidding!!

Winner of the auction is responsible 100% for shipping of the vehicle. It is not currently insured or registered so it cannot be driven anywhere to be dropped off for shipping so you will need to send a flat bed to pick it up.

Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?

Thu, Jun 23 2016

The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose! Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica

Fri, 03 Aug 2012

If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.

GM faces possible class action lawsuit over 8-speed transmission

Thu, Apr 25 2019

General Motors has been hit with a class-action lawsuit from owners who allege the eight-speed automatic transmission found in several rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC models between the 2015 and 2019 model years has a defect that causes the vehicles to hesitate and jerk when accelerating or slowing down. The lawsuit was posted to ClassAction.org and spotted by GM Authority. Problems with GM's Hydra-Matic 8L90 and 8L45 transmissions have been well-documented on Internet forums and via complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with many reporting damage to their vehicles. The lawsuit was first filed in December in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida but appears to have been transferred recently to New York. Autoblog sought comment from Theodore Leopold, the lead attorney for the plaintiffs. "These transmissions have a common defect," the complaint reads. "Drivers attempting to accelerate or decelerate their cars feel a hesitation, followed by a significant shake, shudder, jerk, clunk, or 'hard shift' when the vehicle's automatic transmission changes gears." The problem also occurs when the vehicles accelerate in a single gear, without shifting, the plaintiffs allege. "Drivers have reported that the shift is sometimes so violent, they feel as though they have been hit by another vehicle." The problem is believed to center on the transmission, torque converter or both. The complaint says it causes undue friction, causing hydraulic systems and gears to function improperly and sometimes leaves metal shavings throughout the transmission, leading to costly repairs and replacement of parts or the entire transmission. It says GM has known about the problems since shortly after it introduced the transmissions, and has issued 13 technical service bulletins, none of which have resolved the problem. GM declined to comment on the lawsuit. The plaintiffs say GM should have warned consumers about the issues and covered repairs under each vehicle's three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. They're seeking statewide classes in at least six states: California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Oklahoma and Texas.
