1985 Chevy Monte Carlo Lowrider W/ Cce & Hi Lo Hydraulics Suspension G-body on 2040-cars
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States

This sale is for a 1985 Lowrider, this Monte Carlo has been a part of my
life for 15 years but I just don't have time to enjoy it. I can
literally tell you everything about this car, I will do my best to
describe it and point out its qualities and flaws.
This car has a brand new 4.3l V6, built by a local shop (Component machine) here in Indy. It was bored .20, balanced and blue printed. The engine has less than 150 miles on it, as we trailered this to every show and was never driven for leisure. To make the statement of how clean and particular I was about this car, the transmission is powder coated WHITE! It was rebuilt and installed at the same time as the engine. Built by a local shop (Bradley's transmissions) here in Indy. Do the the length of time this car sat (being started in a regular basis) we recently installed a brand gas tank, fuel filter and flushed the fuel system. The interior has over 110 buttons, with biscuit tucked floor boards and headliner. The front seats are swivel buckets sewn in 4" squares with a button at each intersection. Thresholds and center hump are wrapped with swirl crush velvet in a wrinkle style. The interior is 100% with nothing left unfinished, although the edges of the headliner could use a "finish peice" at the doors. The 13" wire wheels are knock offs, come complete with hammer & wrench. Tires are 98% tread (as it was always trailered). One front wheel has a slight bend to it from hoping and a ball joint broke. The paint is a candy cobalt blue over Orion silver. It's about 7 years old (but this car hasn't seen daylight in 6 years and less than 12 times since it was painted. The paint does have some chips, scratches, etc. There is no major damage, the rear bumper does have scratches but the chips are from the body flexing while sitting on 3 wheel and the trunk deck rubbing the quarter panel. The frame has been wrapped with 3/8" plate steel at the rear humps, front spring pockets, in front of above and below front spring pockets. The rear spring pockets have been cut out and a 9" C channel bridge installed with chains. The rear axle has been re-inforced and built to never bend and swivel balls have been installed. The front control arms are completely wrapped 3/8" upper & lowers, they have been chained together to minimize the breaking of ball joints. The rear control arms have been cut and extended 4" to allow for better height at the rear bumper. Now, for the fun stuff. This car is set up for 4 pumps and 9 batteries, however the rack was built to support 4 pumps and 14 batteries. The hydraulics are a mix of prestolite motors, mounted to CCE flow blocks, turning marzocchi pump heads. The front pumps are known as 1/2" "far boys" the provide a 1/2" port at the flow block with a 1/2" hose running all the way to the 8" cylinders at the front wheels. The rear pumps are the same but utilize a 3/8" port and hoses running 16" cylinders at the rear wheels. The batteries powering this system are 9 deep cycle marine batteries that are about 9 months old and all hold a good charge and perform as expected. I only used prestolite solenoid's and have the setup to utilize blocks or individual. This car has been in Lowrider magazine twice and has been known to "hit" back bumper with the rear locked all the way up on 14" cylinders. There are a 3/4 stack of 3 1/4 ton springs in the front and 1/2 stack of 2 1/2 ton in the rear to make it sit a level pancake. The wheel wells, AC, heater core, wipers have all been removed. Things that I would want to know if I were interested in buying: Paint will need repair in few places to be 100% show quality. Drive shaft is not original, it is a telescoping drive shaft to compensate for the body height constantly changing. Needs more engineering/ time spent on this. Sometimes with a quick raise/ drop it will pull out of the transmission or while riding on 3 wheel it will twist out of the caps at the hog head. The upper control arms at the rear end have been extended 4" to allow for a higher lift in the rear end, thus does not allow for it to roll at full pancake as it puts the u-joint in a bind. With the extended rear control arms and missing away bar up front it is not comfortable to drive above 40 mph and with the springs it's quite bouncy. I have done my best to describe/ explain this the best I can. I have over 30k in receipts just for hydraulics, the fabrication and welding has been a work in progress over the course of 5 years. This is not a car for just anyone, this is a hobby for someone to enjoy. I wish I had the time but I don't. Thank you for reading and please ask any questions BEFORE bidding. Please plan to pick up in Indianapolis. |

Chevrolet Malibu gets aggressive redesign for 2016
Wed, Apr 1 2015Cars like the Ford Fusion, Kia Optima and Chrysler 200 have recently raised the styling bar in the midsize sedan game is. In that regard, the rather anonymous Chevrolet Malibu has suffered in recent years. That no longer appears to be an issue with the 2016 Malibu, which is simply caked with interesting elements. The wide, aggressive grille, expressive headlights and angled LED running lamps make the Malibu look like the Impala's much angrier little brother. In back, the Impala inspiration is there, but like the fascia, it's noticeably more aggressive, with a sharper cant to the taillights and a pair of large, integrated dual exhausts (at least on the 2.0-liter, turbocharged model being featured by Chevy). Designers also worked to give the 'Bu a bit more character in the profile, adding a pair of character lines to cut back on the last-gen car's slab-sided looks. While the exterior could almost be described as sporting, the brown-and-beige color scheme in the cabin is noticeably more relaxed. A large, central MyLink system sits atop the dash, while drivers will also have access to a dedicated display in the instrument cluster. A thick-rimmed, three-spoke steering wheel is a bit on the large side, but still looks like a nice piece to work. You can read a lot more about the new 2016 Malibu in our original post from early this morning. But before you do that, have a look at our full gallery of live images from the floor of the Javits Center. All-New Malibu is Larger, More Technological and Efficient New hybrid sedan projected to offer combined rating north of 45 MPG DETROIT – Chevrolet today introduced the all-new 2016 Malibu – a completely restyled midsize sedan engineered to offer more efficiency, connectivity and advanced safety features than ever. An all-new hybrid powertrain, which leverages technology from the Chevrolet Volt, will help offer a GM-estimated combined rating north of 45 mpg. The Malibu's standard 1.5L turbo powertrain is projected to offer 37 mpg highway. The 2016 Malibu is also longer and lighter, with more interior space and improved fuel efficiency. Its wheelbase has been stretched close to four inches (101 mm), and it is nearly 300 pounds (136 kg) lighter than the current model. "Midsize customers tell us they want great fuel economy, connected technologies, wrapped in a gorgeous exterior. This is exactly what the 2016 Malibu was engineered to do," said Jesse Ortega, Malibu chief engineer.
Detroit Three's lucrative pickup war intensifies as Ram makes big gains
Thu, Jan 3 2019DETROIT — The battle for profits from sales of large pickup trucks is intensifying among the Detroit Three automakers as sales of small cars in the United States shrivel. For decades Ford has had the single best-selling truck brand in its F-Series trucks. General Motors' Chevrolet brand was a solid No. 2, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Ram was a distant third. Now, that hierarchy may be in flux. Sales figures for December and the fourth quarter released on Thursday show Ram tied with GM's Chevy for the No. 2 spot, as sales of the redesigned Ram pickup surged, fueled in part by demand for an optional 12-inch (30.48 cm) dashboard screen. Chevy not long ago held second place to Ford by a wide margin. GM executives said on Thursday they are bullish on their new GMC and Chevy trucks for 2019.Related: How the Detroit Three's pickups compare on paper 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie review 2019 Chevy Silverado 2.7L four-cylinder review 2019 Ford F-150 2.7L EcoBoost review "There's no doubt this segment (pickup trucks) is one of the epicenters of the auto wars," said Sandor Piszar, director of marketing for Chevrolet at GM. "It's been that way forever, and we wouldn't have it any other way." On Wall Street, investors give electric car leader Tesla a higher valuation than any of the Detroit automakers. But in the nation's heartland, big pickups remain far more popular and profitable than any electric car — and most other consumer vehicles of any kind. Large pickups generate at least $17,000 a vehicle in pretax profit for GM, the company has indicated in disclosures to investors. By contrast, many Detroit Three sedans are so unprofitable, their manufacturers have decided not to build them anymore. 'Hotly contested' Sustaining sales and pricing in the large-pickup segment will be critical in a year when most forecasters expect overall U.S. car and light truck sales to fall. Ford's U.S. sales chief, Mark LaNeve, on Thursday called the F Series "the backbone of our franchise" during a conference call, and added the "segment will continue to be strong, but hotly contested" in 2019. Automakers are banking on pickup truck sales to stay strong even if U.S. interest rates continue to rise. Rising interest rates translate into higher monthly car payments and are expected to deter some buyers in 2019. GM has said 27 percent of Chevrolet and GMC trucks — which can haul trailers by day and substitute for a luxury sedan by night — sell for more than $55,000.
