The engine is a 350 CID V8 with a single 2 barrel carburetor. It is equipped with power steering, power brakes and factory air conditioning (not working since I've owned it). All original except for repaint by previous owner from yellow to red. Original emission and cooling stickers, trim tag with factory rivets. Engine compartment has superficial rust around brake unit and steering box and inside front of hood is showing superficial rust. Chassis is lightly rusted in some areas consistent with age and mileage of vehicle. However, all areas are structurally sound. Brakes are front disc and rear drum. Tires are good, mounted on factory steel painted rims with center hubs and trim rings. Minor oil residue. Shocks are new and exhaust is good. The wipers work but the windshield washer pump is not currently functioning.

Interior is all original except for driver seat back, which was re-upholstered by prior owner (? reason) done in a similar but not original black fabric. I have the fabric. Dash, carpets, gauges pedals and dash pad are in great condition. Headliner was replaced. Door panels and handles are in good condition. There is a small tear between front bench seats, under back rest, which is not readily visable. The rear deck is not original. The original cracked with speaker installation. The stereo installer replaced with a carpet covered wood panel to support the aftermarket speakers. Radio is AM/FM cassette with power booster/amplifier in trunk.   I do have the original AM push button radio.

Trunk is in very good condition with correct spatter paint; solid with no rust. Exterior paint was reconditioned. There is signs of superficial rusting along the edge of the vinyl top and under the vinyl top. The vinyl top and all stainless trim are in good condition. There are blemishes to the paint in various areas. The body is all steel and in excellent condition with no evidence of body filler with magnet test. Bumpers show superficial rust beginning. Front bumper has "metallic" patch in center put on by prior owner where rust was beginning. No corrosion. All chrome is original and with light pitting. Grill and emblems are good. Lights and lenses are clear. No pitting or chips to any glass. Water test shows no leaks.

Overall, this is an original vehicle with great patina and worthy of total restoration as the engine compartment and chassis can be easily restored to showroom condition. I unfortunately, do not have the time for that and am willing to part with her as is.  Car is currently registered, inspected and insured as an antique.

Aside from the pictures I have here, I have additional pictures in a link that I can provide to you. Please contact me for those.

Please ask all questions prior to bidding. All sales are final.  Car is being sold as seen, as is. Transportation cost is the responsibility of the buyer.

Jay Leno joins the dark side with Darth Vader's car

Mon, Dec 14 2015

There still isn't a better Star Wars villain than Darth Vader. The Sith Lord defines menacing with his black suit, deep voice, and a penchant for choking underlings. Maybe The Force Awakens can introduce a better bad guy when the film hits theaters in the coming days, but Vader remains king until then. Jay Leno now shows some respect for the dark side of the force by welcoming Darth's car into his garage. This isn't just the tiny Hot Wheels toy, but the fully drivable version that premiered last year at San Diego Comic-Con. The car's design clearly evokes Vader's iconic helmet, but it still looks like a mean hot rod. Designer Bryan Benedict also shows Leno a few other Star Wars touches in the styling, like the light saber side pipes and Imperial logos on the wheels. One of the coolest features is that the roof rises out of the way to let in passengers, which is a small nod to a scene from The Empire Strikes Back. Underneath the Vader-inspired shape, the car uses a heavily modified C6 Chevrolet Corvette platform, and Jay gets to take it for a short drive. Leno even leans into the dark side with some maniacal laughter while behind the wheel. Related Video:

Nissan Leaf ends 2013 with best sales month ever, but can't catch Chevy Volt

Fri, Jan 3 2014

Nissan and Chevrolet both ended 2013 with solid sales figures for their plug-in vehicles, the first two that were released (all the way back at the end of 2010) from major automakers. As has been the story for most of 2013, December sales for the Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Volt were roughly the same. When we left the year-to-date running tally at the end of November, the Volt was at 20,702, while the Leaf was at 20,080. As you can tell from the image above (if you've been noticing the trend in these EV sales monthly flash-reports), the Leaf outsold the Volt, but was it enough to put the Nissan on top for the year? In 2013, Nissan sold 22,610 Leafs, more than twice as many as in 2012. Almost. The Leaf made a valiant attempt, and did have its best month ever with 2,529 units sold. That means that for 2013, Nissan moved a total of 22,610 Leafs, more than twice as many as in 2012 (that year, Nissan sold only 9,819 Leafs in the US) and actually more than 2012 and 2011 Leaf sales combined (which was 19,493). Nissan continues to see the effects of its price drop and expanded sales areas, with Georgia rapidly becoming a Leaf hotbed. Nissan's Paige Presley said that Atlanta was once again the Leaf's number one market and that, "sales are expanding deeper into Georgia markets such as Macon and Columbus." The Volt saw a boost upwards from a November slump and sold 2,392 units in December. That puts the plug-in hybrid's annual total at 23,094, just down from the 23,461 sold in 2012. For all of 2013, though, the Volt outsold the Leaf by 484 vehicles. In a competition like this, we'll count that as a win for both sides. We will our more detailed monthly green car sales report, which covers more of the fuel efficient vehicles on the market, up soon. Mopar Hellephant is sold out, but here are 4 other awesome crate V8s to try

Mon, May 6 2019

Despite a relatively enormous $30,000 price tag, Mopar's 1,000-horsepower supercharged Hellephant crate engine sold out in just 48 hours. Some enthusiasts may have missed out on the crazy engine due to lack of funds, or they just assumed there would still be some Hellephants down the line. But worry not, swap-happy gearheads. There are plenty of V8s in the world to pick from, and we highlighted four favorites. They're not as powerful, but they're all cheaper, and still have a lot to offer. Mopar 6.2L Hellcrate Odds are a lot of prospective Hellephant buyers were Mopar fans to begin with, so we'll start the list with the next-most-potent offering: the Hellcrate. This is the same supercharged 6.2-liter V8 found under the hood of the Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcats and the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. It makes 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque like those cars, too. It's also about $10,000 cheaper than the Hellephant engine at $20,020, and that leftover money can be used to finish the project or for aftermarket upgrades to get it closer to the Hellephant's output. GM LS9 6.2L The Hellcrate isn't the only factory supercharged crate engine on the market. From General Motors comes the supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8. This is the engine that was used in the C6 Corvette ZR1. At 638 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque, it doesn't make as much power or torque as the Hellcrate. But it does boast a dry sump oil system. So instead of pumping oil out of a pan at the bottom, the engine uses an oil tank mounted remotely that pumps oil into the engine. This means the engine is shorter overall, and can be mounted lower for a better center of gravity. It also means that there's almost no risk of running the engine dry in hard cornering, as could happen with a normal oil sump where the oil can slosh to the side without the oil pump. Basically, it offers some major benefits if you want supercharged V8 power for a road course car. It's also a tad cheaper than the Hellcrate at $18,149. But get one while you can, because GM is only selling what's left from when it was building the C6 ZR1. Ford Aluminator 5.2XS Our pick from the Blue Oval lacks a supercharger, but it's still pretty sweet.
