** Same owner 25 years. Chevy 1971 Monte Carlo SS454 Z20 option car LS-5 w/M40 Turbo 400 trans. 12 bolt posi w/331 ratio rear end F41 suspension. Car is Nevada Silver with black vinyl and interior. Has bucket seats with console and tach and guage package. Has factory a/c. All there but will need a charge for R12 or convert to 134A. Car has the correct CPD coded engine which has been rebuilt (not the orig. engine, but as close as it gets. All dates are dead on). When I bought the car it had a CE short block. I found a 1971 Chevelle SS454 LS-5 engine and transmission from a car that was built the same week as my car. I do have the protecto plate from this car also and is included in the sale. Front suspension and brakes done and detailed, new vinyl top. Car has NOS plastic inner fenders installed. *** I did not reinstall the load level but I do have it. This car is one of 1919 built. I have the build sheets for the car, window sticker, protecto plate and orig. dealer brochure when buyer ordered car new plus maitance logs. Car was Ziebarted from new and the car spent it's time between Illinois and Texas so rust is minimal. The car has one repaint which was done in 1985 and prep was not done correctly so it is checked. Car looks great until you inspect the paint. Overall it is very nice solid documented car that will need to be taken to the next level. If you are serious buyer please contact me to set an appointment. 773 744 5998. I will consider trades for 66 to 69 GM or Mopar muscle cars only. Thank you.

GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.

The Corvette Museum sinkhole has been filled

Wed, Feb 11 2015

After swallowing eight of the most prized pieces of the collection from the National Corvette Museum, the massive sinkhole from a year ago is rapidly becoming nothing but a bad memory. Based on the museum's weekly construction update, you can barely see the remnants of the 25-foot deep hole once in the floor. The Corvette Museum's Skydome was not always going to look like this. The original hope was to keep the sinkhole there as a tourist attraction. That plan eventually fell through, though, and instead it was decided five of the less-damaged Corvettes would remain unrestored. Progress has been moving fast to get the repairs done. Even a month ago, the hole was still very visible, and the construction company used remote-controlled Bobcat loaders to fill it in. Now, the museum has launched a contest to guess how many tons of stone it took to fill in the massive crater. The winner gets a print of the 2009 Corvette ZR1 Blue Devil being lifted out.
