1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Here is a solid rust free Monte Carlo, it has a mild look but real muscle car growl! The interior is almost all original and still has the 70s vinyl 'new car' smell, it still has all its' seat belts and original owners manual. The interior is in very good condition and has factory tilt steering (the original steering wheel is the trunk). The horn, gas gauge, speedometer/odometer work, even the original radio works. The car looks to only have had one repaint with the addition of custom SS rally stripes. The trunk is dry and also has its' original factory trunk finish.
The drive-train on this car looks to be fresh and very nicely done. The engine fires up with the touch of the key. The engine has a Summit racing aluminum intake, a dual gas feed Summit racing carburator. It has a hi-voltage alternator, hi-torque starter, new water-pump, new fuel pump/fuel filter, new power steering pump, new radiator/hoses/belts, new chrome timing chain cover and aluminium Edelbrock valve covers. The engine is equipped with 'Camel Hump' heads and long tube headers with dual single chamber Flowmaster mufflers/exhaust. The engine idles smoothly.......when idling the engine has a nice muscle car burble, and when you get on the gas the exhaust note really opens up. It's a blast to listen to, a very free flowing feel to the engine. The transmission also looks to be fresh, as is the exhaust system. The car has front disk brakes with new brake booster and master cylinder. The car has the factory 12 bolt rear end, basically the car has the closest thing to a Chevelle SS drive-train you can get.
The body and frame are solid, the paint looks nice (6 footer) and the chrome is original (some blemishing on the bumpers). The car has the deeper Chevy/Corvette Rally wheels with 265/60-15 rear and 235/60-15 front. The color of the car makes it look tame, but the stripes and drive-train leave no doubt that this is a muscle car. If you are looking to enjoy/own a reasonably priced muscle car......this is probably the car for you. The a/c and heater have been removed by the previous owner (don't know why), also the stiching/vinyl is separating in some areas on the drivers seat. The car has a clean/clear California title and is licensed till Sept. 2013. If you have any questions, other than "what's your reserve/how much will you take for it", you are welcome to contact me through ebay or call my cell 559-801-8623 anytime 10am-6pm California time.

Payment is due within seven days of the end of the auction. California buyers and all in state sales are subject to sales tax, doc. & lic fees. In California, vehicles over ten years old are sold miles 'exempt'. The mileage on this car is assumed to have turned over. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer.

What if the mid-engine Corvette is really a Cadillac?

Tue, Jun 28 2016

Call me crazy, but I'm not convinced the mid-engine Corvette is the next Corvette. The rumor is strong, yes. And, contrary to some of the comments on our site, Car and Driver - leader of the mid-engine Corvette speculation brigade - has a pretty good record predicting future models. But it's another comment that got me thinking: or maybe it's a Cadillac. There is clearly something mid-engine going on at GM, and I think it makes sense for the car to be a Cadillac. First off, check out how sweet the 2002 Cadillac Cien concept car still looks in the photo above. Second, there are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. There are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. The C7 is relatively young in Corvette years, starting production almost three years ago as a 2014 model. Showing a 2019 model at the 2018 North American International Auto Show would kill sales of a strong-selling car before its time. Not to mention it would only mean a short run for the Grand Sport, which was the best-selling version of the previous generation. More stuff doesn't add up. Mid-engine cars are, in general, more expensive. Moving the Vette upmarket leaves a void that the Camaro does not fill. There's not much overlap between Camaro and Corvette customers. Corvette owners are older and enjoy features like a big trunk that holds golf clubs. Mid-engine means less trunk space and alienating a happy, loyal buyer. Also, more than 60 years of history. The Corvette is an icon along the likes of the Porsche 911 and Ford Mustang. I'm not sure the car-buying public wants a Corvette that abandons all previous conventions. And big changes bring uncertainty - I don't think GM would make such a risky bet. Chevrolet could build a mid-engine ZR1, you might say, and keep the other Corvettes front-engine. Yes they could, and it would cost a ton of money. And they still need to fund development of that front-engine car. I highly doubt the corporate accountants would go for that. But a Cadillac? Totally. Cadillac is in the middle of a brand repositioning. GM is throwing money at this effort. A mid-engine halo car is the just the splash the brand needs to shake off the ghosts of Fleetwoods past. And it's already in Cadillac President Johan De Nysschen's playbook. He was in charge of Audi's North America arm when the R8 came out. A Caddy sports car priced above $100,000 isn't that unreasonable when you can already price a CTS-V in that range.

Chevy, GMC have electric pickups coming. Is Cadillac next?

Fri, Jan 7 2022

GMC already has an uber-expensive electric pickup in the Hummer EV. By now you've no doubt seen the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV. It's a pickup. It's electric. It looks a little bit like an Avalanche. Hmm. You know what else was a pickup that looked a little bit like an Avalanche? Why, the Cadillac Escalade EXT, of course.  Cadillac Escalade EV-T yes or no?https://t.co/R1AXThRzIG@therealautoblog @Cadillac — Byron "Don't do anything Byron says. Ever" Hurd (@Byron_AB) January 7, 2022 So, hypothetically, if Cadillac were to build an Escalade EXT with an upmarket interior, Super Cruise, a minimum of 300 miles of range, 10,000 pounds of towing capacity, a locking frunk and 5-passenger seating, plus all of the nifty doodads and gadgets we've already seen on the Silverado ... would it sell?  OK, this isn't entirely hypothetical. In fact, I received a survey from Cadillac this morning asking just that. It's an interesting question. And it's one we're putting to you, the readers. So, what say you? Cadillac Escalade EV-T? Yes or no? Related video:

Before Chevrolet's Redline, there was the Saturn Red Line

Thu, Feb 9 2017

While Chevy rolls out Redline special editions across more of the lineup at this year's Chicago Auto Show, we've been eating some 'member berries and started thinking about the last time GM used the term. Back in 2004, Saturn rolled out Red Line (two words) editions of the Ion and Vue. The lineup was joined by the Sky Red Line in 2007, and the second-generation Vue kept the tradition going in 2008. This was in the heady days of the mid-2000s, before the financial crisis and GM's bankruptcy reorganization that saw the end of Saturn. The press release headline for the 2008 Sky is now cringe-worthy: "Hot-selling Sky helps drive Saturn product renaissance." Performance lineups were the hot new thing, as automakers attempted to cash in on the tuner trend popularized by The Fast and the Furious. Chevy had SS models, Pontiac had GXP, and Saturn had Red Line. Across the Detroit Metro area, Dodge had a slew of SRT models, and Ford's Special Vehicle Team brought us the SVT Lightning pickup, the SVT Focus, and a smattering of hopped-up Mustangs. The performance cred of Red Line models varied from car to car. The Ion Red Line shared the same engine as the original Chevy Cobalt SS, a 205-horsepower supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 65 hp more than stock. Car and Driver tested one with a 0-to-60-mph time of 6.1 seconds and said the Ion "tears down the wall that has separated enthusiasts from the Saturn brand for so long." The Vue Red Line, meanwhile, came with the same optional Honda-sourced 3.5-liter V6 you could get in the regular Vue, and added a stiffer, lower suspension, bigger wheels with more aggressive rubber, and recalibrated steering assist. When the Vue was redesigned for the 2008 model year, the Vue Red Line was a similar proposition. The engine was now from GM, and up 7 horsepower to 257, but you could get it in both Red Line and XE trim. Aside from the tire and suspension upgrades, Red Line models now came with a unique front fascia and rear exhaust cutouts. The most exciting Red Line, of course, was the high-performance version of the Sky roadster, which shared underpinnings with its Pontiac Solstice twin. This model came with GM's hot 2.0-liter Ecotec Turbo, good for 260 horsepower. The extra power was crucial in covering up the Sky's unfortunate manual gearbox ratios, which left the non-turbo model aching for torque in lower gears. As we all know, Saturn was taken by the grim reaper in 2009 after an attempt to sell the brand to the Penske Group.
