EXTERIOR

You are bidding on a true one of a kind 1970 Chevelle Big Block 454 Pro-Touring. We started by taking the entire car down to bare metal and replaced all questionable sheet metal prior to body work. Over 400 hours was invested to achieve this finished product. The Chevelle was finished in PPG 2012 Mercedes Benz Pallidum Silver, Mercedes Charcoal Grey ,and BMW Velencia Orange Pearl for the pin striping. The car was finished using 2500 wet sand paper prior to final buff to assure a brilliant shine. You will notice this color scheme carries on to the rear bumper where a custom bumper pad was hand painted to match. Custom pin striping on the rims and badging completes the overall theme.

Overall I would give this car an 8 out of 10 rating on the paint and body. Its not a full blown show car but it’s definitely a high quality driver that can win at your regional car shows. All the Trim, door handles, locks, Front and Rear Glass, Rubbers, Lights etc. have been replaced with new OEM parts.

MECHANICS

This car has a brand new ATK Crate Engine rated at 410hp before upgrades.(A Dyno and Full Build Sheet is Included).  A full warranty came with the Engine and I believe it may be transferable (I will check with ATK and update listing).  Since completion this car only has 600 miles on it and it sounds very aggressive. It features a quick fuel 800 CFM carb, Edelbrock Performance intake, MSD Wires, Custom Long Tube Headers, Vintage Air A/C and Heat, Chrome A/C Compressor, Chrome 1 Wire Alternator, Edelbrock High Flow Water Pump, Chrome Performance Fuel Pump, Chrome 7" Brake Booster with matching Master Cylinder, Chrome Pulleys, 3 Core Champion Aluminum Radiator with Dual Electric Fans/Stroud, New American Wire Wiring Harness for Engine, Custom 2 1/2 Exhaust with Stainless Magnaflow Mufflers, Fresh Rebuild Muncie M21 with Hurst Shifter, Custom Drive Shaft, 12 Bolt Posi Eaton Rear End with 411 gears, New 4 Wheel Disc Brakes all the way around with all new hardware, New Gas Tank, All new Hoses, Belts, Custom Radiator Cover Polished, Billet Spark Plug Holders and lots more.  I have driven this car in the heat here in Las Vegas with the Air blowing ice cold in 115 degrees without any issues. This car is mechanically sound.

SUSPENSION

Everything has been replaced on this suspension from front to back. In the front we installed New Tubular Control Arms Upper and Lower which improve handling and geometry, BMR Performance Progressive 2" Drop Springs, Ney KYB Performance Shocks, Upgrade 1 3/8 Sway Bar with Poly Urethane Bushings, New Front end Kit, 4 Wheel Disc Brakes, New Custom Drive Shaft designed specifically for car, Rear Boxed Pure Muscle Upper and Lower Control Arms, Rear BMR 2" Drop Springs, Front KYB Performance Shocks with rear Air Ride. This cars handling is superior in comparison to stock suspension. This is a great Pro-Touring/Restomod setup that eliminates body roll but still allows you to cruise on the highway without feeling every bump in the road.

INTERIOR

This Interior is truly "One Of A Kind". It features a combination of Simulated Leather, Perforated Simulated Leather and Suede. The Custom bucket seats have been designed with Grey Suede on the bosters highlighted in a single orange stitch, Perforated  inserts double stitched with beautiful French stitching on the seams. Custom Suede Headliner, Rear Deck panel, Custom Double Stitch Trunk Panels, Sound System including: Alpine Amp, Rockford Fosgate  12" Sub, Alpine Bluetooth compatible USB CD Player, Custom kick panels with 6 1/2" Alpine Type R Speakers and Chrome Compaitor.

CLOSING

Over 70,000 and a ton of time and effort went into building this one off car so please bid with confidence.I can assure you  this is  a "one of a kind" 1970 Chevelle that you wont find anywhere else. It performs better than an original LS5 Big Block, It handles much better, the overall look still stays true to the heritage and spirit of the Chevelle but with a modern streamlined look and overall, the timeless design and execution speaks for itself.

I reserve the right to sell this car locally at anytime. This car is sold "As Is" so please make sure you do your homework. What if the mid-engine Corvette is really a Cadillac?

Tue, Jun 28 2016

Call me crazy, but I'm not convinced the mid-engine Corvette is the next Corvette. The rumor is strong, yes. And, contrary to some of the comments on our site, Car and Driver - leader of the mid-engine Corvette speculation brigade - has a pretty good record predicting future models. But it's another comment that got me thinking: or maybe it's a Cadillac. There is clearly something mid-engine going on at GM, and I think it makes sense for the car to be a Cadillac. First off, check out how sweet the 2002 Cadillac Cien concept car still looks in the photo above. Second, there are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. There are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. The C7 is relatively young in Corvette years, starting production almost three years ago as a 2014 model. Showing a 2019 model at the 2018 North American International Auto Show would kill sales of a strong-selling car before its time. Not to mention it would only mean a short run for the Grand Sport, which was the best-selling version of the previous generation. More stuff doesn't add up. Mid-engine cars are, in general, more expensive. Moving the Vette upmarket leaves a void that the Camaro does not fill. There's not much overlap between Camaro and Corvette customers. Corvette owners are older and enjoy features like a big trunk that holds golf clubs. Mid-engine means less trunk space and alienating a happy, loyal buyer. Also, more than 60 years of history. The Corvette is an icon along the likes of the Porsche 911 and Ford Mustang. I'm not sure the car-buying public wants a Corvette that abandons all previous conventions. And big changes bring uncertainty - I don't think GM would make such a risky bet. Chevrolet could build a mid-engine ZR1, you might say, and keep the other Corvettes front-engine. Yes they could, and it would cost a ton of money. And they still need to fund development of that front-engine car. I highly doubt the corporate accountants would go for that. But a Cadillac? Totally. Cadillac is in the middle of a brand repositioning. GM is throwing money at this effort. A mid-engine halo car is the just the splash the brand needs to shake off the ghosts of Fleetwoods past. And it's already in Cadillac President Johan De Nysschen's playbook. He was in charge of Audi's North America arm when the R8 came out. A Caddy sports car priced above $100,000 isn't that unreasonable when you can already price a CTS-V in that range.

Autoblog fan favorite car ads from Super Bowl XLIX

Mon, Feb 2 2015

Super Bowl XLIX is in the books, and the New England Patriots emerged victorious. Of course, if you're like us, the big game wasn't so much about the battle between the east coast and west, so much as a fight between the world's automotive advertisers. We collected and collated all of last night's new ads and put them together for you to vote on. And yes, we're limiting this year's contest to last night's new features. That's why you aren't seeing Dodge's epic Wisdom among our collection of commercials, and it's a similar story with Chevrolet's Truck Guy Focus Group series, which highlights the new Colorado. You can still vote for your favorites. We won't be closing the voting on our Super Bowl page, so while the winners and losers are correct as of this writing, it's entirely possible that there could be some changes in the rankings as time goes on. So, without any further ado, here are the winning ads based on your voting. Nissan: With Dad Fiat: Ready For Action Jeep: Beautiful Lands BMW: Newfangled Idea Mercedes-Benz: Fable NASCAR: America Start Your Engines As for those ads that failed to impact you, loyal readers, Toyota was the absolute, undisputed loser. The Japanese brand ran four ads in total – two for Toyota and two for Lexus – and all of them have negative tallies as of this writing. Lexus' Make Some Noise and Lets Play and Toyota's One Bold Choice and My Bold Dad both had very weak showings among the commercials that aired, although they weren't alone. Neither Mazda nor Kia scored particularly well, despite featuring celebrity magic act Penn and Teller and former James Bond, Pierce Brosnan, respectively. Chevrolet was the winner of the losers, as of our writing, recording the fewest downvotes for its audience-punking The Big Game ad. If you want to take a second look at the losing ads, you can head back to our Super Bowl page for the complete collection. But for now, head into Comments and let us know what you think of the results.

Callaway rolls out radical Corvette C7 GT3-R at Hockenheim

Wed, Oct 7 2015

Leave it to Callaway to take a badass Corvette and make it even more so. Case in point: the new Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R you see here. It made its big debut this past weekend during the season finale for the ADAC GT Masters series at the legendary Hockenheimring – the on-again, off-again home of the German Grand Prix. Why in Germany, you ask? Because that's where Callaway Competition is based. The racing division got its start in Heilbronn as Woeher & Ciccone back in 1985. It joined with US-based Callaway Cars in 1988 to distribute its modified Corvettes in Europe, and branched out into constructing racing cars in 1994. And this is its latest project. Designed in partnership between Callaway Competition in Germany and Canadian designer Paul Deutschman, the new GT3-R replaces the previous C6-based Z06.R GT3. It packs a 6.2-liter V8 pumping 600 horsepower through an X-Trac six-speed sequential gearbox. And as you can see, it sure looks the part. Callaway will be offering the new GT3-R to privateer teams for entry in a variety of racing series around the world. But it'll also be fielding the example you see here, sponsored by Whelen Engineering that – like Callaway Cars – is based in Connecticut. Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R World Debut at Hockenheim October 3, 2015 Hockenheim, Germany – October 3, 2015 – This weekend's ADAC GT Masters Season Finale was the backdrop for the unveiling of Callaway Competition's new Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R. Following a brief presentation to media and invited guests, the successor of the C6-based Callaway Z06.R GT3 was displayed to the public for the first time on October 3, 2015 at the Hockenheimring in Germany. Constructors of GT race cars since 1990 and based in Leingarten Germany, Callaway Competition possesses a wealth of experience, technical know-how and a broad network of specialized professional partners. These elements were crucial to conduct such a large undertaking. After nearly two years of comprehensive planning, intensive development and expert fabrication of vehicle components, Callaway Competition completed the first C7 GT3-R just a few weeks ago. Its striking design comes as a result of the collaboration between Canadian designer Paul Deutschman and team owners Giovanni Ciccone and Ernst Wohr. Mike Gramke, Uwe Hoffmann, Florian Mohring and Andre Zanke were also heavily involved in the vehicle's development.
