Condition
Drivetrain
Engine
starts right up and runs strong as you would expect with low mileage. 3.9L high output V6 engine. Only 67k
miles. Title is checked off "not actual miles" and lists "9 miles". I believe the currently displayed mileage to be correct. No engine knocking, smoke, or dripping leaks. Underside of
engine looks dry as you can see in pics. Shifts into and through all
gears smoothly as it should. Has very powerful acceleration
and cruises at highway speed. Has been fleet serviced since new. These
engines normally last 300k+ miles with proper maintenance.
Exterior
Paint has all of
its factory shine and glistens in the sun as you can see. No dents or rust on the body. There may be a few very minor blemishes here and there but body is straight and in very good condition as you can see. The bumpers have some scuffs. There were 3 roof mounted antennas that were removed and holes plugged. There was a spotlight that was removed and the base plate is still mounted. While this is not a showroom new vehicle, it is in exceptional condition for its age and mileage. This is one of the nicest Police Impalas I have had.
Interior
Interior is in very good condition with no rips or tears in carpet or seats. No excessive wear. The stock vinyl floor was removed and a new aftermarket carpet installed for aesthetic purposes. There are a few tiny holes drilled in the trim panel around the radio where some equipment was mounted. Inside is fresh and clean
with no evidence of smoking or pets. The ABS light is on, and pertains to a faulty front left wheel speed sensor. The right front tire pressure sensor is not working and the low tire icon/light is illuminated. A/C blows ICE COLD. All interior electronics function as they should.
Wheels and Tires
· Tires
have approximately 50%+ tread remaining. Has factory alloy LT/LS style rims.
I have test driven approximately 50 miles and assessed the overall condition of the vehicle. It should have no problem driving anywhere. Obvious defects have
been noted but there may be repairs required and additional defects
beyond what is listed. As
I
recommend
to all my customers, you should have your mechanic look over any newly
purchased vehicle before extensive use.
I have tried to list as many
details about this vehicle as I can, including known defects. Please
keep in mind this was a police/emergency vehicle as well as salvage, and may have greater
wear and tear than normal vehicle. There
may
be deficiencies that I am not aware of so buyers are encouraged to
inspect in
person. If you are local I encourage and
welcome you to
come down and check out the vehicle for yourself or have an independent
inspection completed PRIOR to bidding. There will be no price
adjustments or sale cancellations for failure to do so. IT IS THE
BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY TO ASK QUESTIONS AND/OR INSPECT THE VEHICLE BEFORE
BIDDING AND PURCHASE. FAILURE OF THE BUYER TO DO SO DOES NOT
CONSTITUTE NON-DISCLOSURE OF DEFECTS ON THE SELLERS PART. I am happy to
answer any
questions so feel free to e-mail me or call.

You might think that those of us making our living by reviewing cars, think critically about the cars we're driving most of the time. It could be that I'm an underachiever, but that's not the case with me. In fact, unless I'm set to the review task, I typically think about the cars in front of and around me more frequently. That's because a) you never know what you're going to see out there, and b) all of them could be out to bump/scratch/tailgate/crash me out. You can never be too careful. Such was the case when I was driving a 2015 Chevy Corvette earlier this week. I'd already had my fun finding the edges of grip on a river road in the car, the night before; on the morning in question I was just trying to get to work. But while scanning the suburban streets for potential dangers to the 'Vette's neat-o Daytona Sunrise orange paint, I spied a XXL-sized fireworks tent in an empty parking lot. Oh right, I remembered, 4th of July weekend. That obvious bit of observation lead to a chain of thought along these lines: "We should do something with this car for the 4th" ... "Too bad I have to give it back tomorrow." ... "Wonder if I could do a quick video?" ... "Wonder if I can set off a bunch of fireworks in slow-mo for a video?" The result, well, I won't call it genius, but I will say that I remember why every kid loves fireworks. And I will call it glorious. Happy 4th, y'all.

You've waited and watched and waited some more for the arrival of your 650-horsepower, $78,000 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Finally, that joyous day arrives and you eagerly, but gingerly, begin to break-in the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 monster under your hood. Then 900-odd miles after delivery, your excitement grinds, quite literally, to a halt. That's what the owner of one 2015 Z06 claimed happened to him when a simple break-in drive resulted in a lunched engine. The owner, known as Lawdogg149 on Corvette Forum, says he was out breaking-in his car ahead of a January track event when it happened. "While making a pull from 35 miles per hour, I accelerated and shifted short of redline, and boom - the car began knocking. I pulled over and popped the hood. I could hear a loud knock coming from the No. 6 cylinder area along with a serious, grinding, metal-on-metal sound coming from the supercharger area," Lawdogg wrote. A subsequent trip to the dealer confirmed his concerns, with the service facility telling Lawdogg that the No. 6 valvetrain had failed. The dealer couldn't research the issue further, though, as General Motors requested the engine be returned for a more thorough evaluation. The good news for the Z06's unlucky owner, at least, is that GM will be covering the engine replacement under warranty, an expense that Corvette Forum estimates is a nearly $24,000 procedure. At this point, the two leading theories behind the engine's detonation involve a manufacturing defect – which could be why GM is so keen to tear the blown powerplant down – or a mistake on the part of Lawdogg. As Motor Authority points out, such an error could be something as simple as the Z06's owner accidentally shifting to first rather than third during his 35-mph pull. If, however, there's a deeper manufacturing problem with the Z06's engine, this might not be the only case we end up hearing about.
