I'd highly recommend inspection/viewing in person prior to purchase."

I am selling this car as part of a family estate. This lovely 2007 Impala LT was rescued from Rochester where the wild beast was barely driven since it's birth. The car was purchased brand new by the elderly owner. A showroom-condition 1993 Chevrolet Lumina with 37,292 miles was traded in toward this car. This Impala was driven to the local supermarket, drug store and of course church on Sundays. It has spent 90% of it's life in the garage and was conservatively driven around 1,000 miles per year; but not very frequently in the past 2 years due to illness.

I just drove the car approximately 250 miles to Albany and it starts, runs, drives and handles like an absolute charm. It's LITERALLY like a BRAND NEW car that's been barely driven.

It smells new inside, the entire chassis and drivetrain are tight and fresh like it just rolled off the assembly line. This is the total package: classic American styling in a full size car, powerful but fuel efficient engine and enough room to carry passengers in comfort.

In classic elderly preservation tactics, there are indeed floor mats covering the floor mats. The drivers footwell even as an extra mat covering the covering floor mats (if that makes sense). The floor mats were from the 1993 Lumina.

The car has the 3.5L V6 and front wheel drive 4 speed automatic transaxle. It is E85 compatible (a great way to save some cake at the pump) and has factory remote start. Power windows, locks and power drivers seat. Single disc CD player and AM/FM with auxiliary input. Dual zone climate control and a beautiful deep burgundy premium paint (a $295 option). Safety features include front dual airbags, and head curtain side airbags both front and rear. It also has a factory tire pressure monitoring system which is a very handy feature.

Some additional information:
100% clean CARFAX (one owner, showing original in service date, etc.).
Clean and clear NY title from the estate. No liens, no drama, no problems. 100% Clean and clear. Clean and clear. I'll say it one more time because I'm sure someone will ask: clean and clear New York State Title from the Department of Motor Vehicles. Clean and clear.
Has full Ziebart treatment including diamond gloss paint protection, fabric protection, sound barrier and undercoating. This was $900 from the selling dealer.
Includes window sticker (really, how many people actually save these anymore?)
Two keys and two remote keyless entry fobs
All service records since new
Original selling dealer paperwork outlining sale price, tax paid, Ziebart and trade in allowance. $22,769.04 out the door.

As with any used car, there are some very minor wear and tear marks. I'm disclosing the ones I found in all fairness. I've tried to picture them as best possible, but are hard to photograph. One is on the right front bumper. Two very light scrapes about the length of a dollar bill. There are also a few spots of bird crap or sap (unsure which) on the trunk deck lid. The hood has a few very minor watermarks and very minor marks. I think all of these would probably buff out or clean up with the assistance of a professional detailing service if any of them are very objectionable.

The drivers door has a few small dings from hitting the garage. These would probably touch up with some paint and are very minor.

The left side B-pillar exterior moldings have some minor discoloration. I'd consider this a manufacturer's defect, not an environmental issue. Again, just full disclosure.

Here's your chance to get what is essentially a new car for nearly a 40% discount.

This is a cash sale only. No trades.

This car is exactly as described, not hiding anything.

The car will come with a fresh oil and filter change and a full tank of gas for the new owner.

Vehicle for sale locally, will end auction if sells.

As with any used vehicle, inspection prior to purchase is highly recommended.

Sold as-is where is with no warranty expressed or implied.

New Takata problem results in recall of 414 GM vehicles

    Mon, Oct 19 2015

An airbag-inflator rupture discovered by Takata during testing has resulted in a new recall affecting 414 vehicles from General Motors, including 395 of them in the US. This latest campaign covers 2015 model-year examples of the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Camaro, Equinox, Malibu, and GMC Terrain. There are no reported breaks in any of these vehicles on the road, and the company estimates only one percent of them actually have the faulty parts. According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (as a PDF), one side-airbag inflator failed a cold test at -40 Fahrenheit "releasing high pressure gas and propelling the separated components apart." The supplier told GM about the failure the next day. In these vehicles, the safety device might not only burst but the bag could inflate incorrectly, as well. GM and Takata say that a cause is not yet known, but they are "conducting an investigation." GM will begin notifying affected owners via overnight mail on Oct. 19. Dealers will replace the side airbag modules on all of the affected vehicles with new components outside of the suspect lot. All of the removed parts will also be collected for further study. Takata's faulty front airbag inflators have resulted in a serious scandal for the supplier. Initial figures indicated 34 million US vehicles are need of repair, though more recent figures have knocked that down to 23.4 million bad parts in 19.2 million automobiles. GM was already among the dozen automakers with models to fix, and some of its pickups were affected, along with the Saab 9-2X and Pontiac Vibe. GM Statement: General Motors is recalling 395 cars and crossovers in the U.S. because one of the front seat side air bags inflators may be defective. In the event of a deployment, the air bag's inflator may rupture and the air bag may not properly inflate. The rupture could cause metal fragments to strike the vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. GM is unaware of any incidents involving vehicles with these components, which were part of a lot in which one inflator failed acceptance testing at the supplier. Dealers will replace the side air bag module or modules in affected vehicles. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population of the recall is 414, GM estimates 1 percent of the recalled vehicles may have the defect.

Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain

    Sat, Aug 9 2014

Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S. Meet the mother-daughter team that's worked on almost every Chevy Volt

    Sun, May 11 2014

It's Mother's Day, and we're soft enough we love our mothers enough to share a new video from General Motors with you. In it, we meet Monique Watson (left) and Evetta Osbourne, a mother-daughter team that works at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly where GM makes the Chevy Volt (along with all of GM's other plug-in hybrids: the Opel Ampera, Holden Volt and Cadillac ELR). The two work side-by-side and have installed the lithium-ion battery pack on almost all of those vehicles - nearly 80,000 of them - since GM started making the pre-production Volts in 2009. In a prepared statement, Watson said that she likes working next to her mom, day in and day out, and they the two are totally in sync when it comes to putting the 400-pound, 16.5-kWh packs into the vehicle undersides. They two can also share stories throughout the day, and Watson said, "The arrangement has absolutely improved our relationship." Osborne started working at Detroit-Hamtramck in 1999, Watson since 2006. If you're driving a Volt today, you probably have them to thank for doing a bit of the work putting your car together. See a short video of them in action below. It's Always Mother's Day for Detroit-Hamtramck Duo Mother, daughter install lithium-ion battery pack in nearly all GM electric vehicles 2014-05-08 DETROIT – For Detroit resident Evetta Osborne, every day is Mother's Day. That's because she literally works side by side with her daughter, Monique Watson, at General Motors' Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. They have installed the lithium-ion battery pack on nearly every Chevrolet Volt, Opel Ampera, Holden Volt, and Cadillac ELR since production began. In fact, apart from vacation days and an occasional sick day, the mother-daughter duo has installed almost every battery pack since the Volt was in pre-production in 2009. The ELR launched earlier this year. All told – including Ampera – that's more than 80,000 electric vehicles. "We're a good team and our relationship is secondary when it comes to performing our jobs – but it's great to work alongside my daughter, said Osborne, a mother of five. Because the battery packs weigh more than 400 pounds each, automatic guided vehicles – robotic carts that use sensors to follow a path through the plant – deliver them just as the vehicle body structures glide into position overhead. The carts then lift the T-shaped packs, and Osborne and Watson guide them into the chassis and secure each one with 24 fasteners.
