1970 Impala Convertible, NOT original. This car was purchased by me in the early 90's. The original driveline including engine, transmission, exhaust, and suspension (springs, shocks, bushings, etc.) was replaced with high performance items.
Engine is 454 built by a professional engine builder. Holley carb. Edelbrock intake manifold. Electronic ignition. Transmission is a THD 350 with manual shift kit. Exhaust is Hooker headers. 12 bolt rear (non posi). Car is only taken out for a ride once every couple of years. It is very powerful.
It is possible that the mileage is really 56,296 and not 156,296 but I listed it high so as not to get involved in that discussion. I don't think that I have put 2,000 miles on it since the driveline was replaced, and I was told it had one owner before me who just used it around town.
Outside condition is pretty good. Interior needs work. I never hooked up the AC fan belt, though the pump and system are intact. I would recommend charging it and having it checked out first if you want to use AC.
When I turned on the heater this year, it sounded like an acorn had gotten into the fan. I had someone working on the wiring, and he took out one switch and one window motor. I have them. He also took out a set of aftermarket speakers mounted in the back, leaving holes in the trim as shown. Seats are shown in pictures. Vent hoses from heating/AC have fallen apart. I only take it out in the summer so I never fixed it.
Front wiring harness was replaced with driveline. New convertible motor. I have extra parts such as ashtrays, cigarette lighters, and hubcaps that go with the car.
The car is a driver. Engine is powerful, controllable and responsive. Handling is tight. Built to be a highway car. Car is registered and inspected.
As is. No returns. Need the room in the garage.
Thanks for looking.

Chevy Silverado Midnight Edition, Custom ready to stand out in pickup line
Thu, Feb 12 2015Chevrolet spent its Chicago Auto Show introducing a pair of fullsize pickups that promise image-conscious buyers a truck experience that goes beyond the standard range, with the murdered-out Midnight Edition and the um, not murdered-out, Custom. Let's start with the Custom, which adds 20-inch alloys, as well as chrome bumpers, mirror caps and door handles to the Silverado LS. Available in both V6 and V8 varieties, and with the customer's choice of two- or four-wheel drive, the Silverado Custom is the decidedly mellower example of Chevy's special edition styling. The Midnight Edition, meanwhile, throws subtlety out the window with a menacing set of visual upgrades. Based on the Z71, the Midnight adds 18-inch wheels, a spray-in bedliner and unique Z71 and Bowtie badges, all in black, of course. The front and rear bumpers, headlamp bezels, tow hooks, mirror caps and door handles, are also finished in the stealthy shade. Check out our live images of both special edition trucks, and let us know what you think down in Comments.
Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?
Thu, Jun 23 2016The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose! 2016 Chevy Camaro Convertible gets cleaner looks, improved refinement [UPDATE]
Wed, Jun 24 2015UPDATE: We have live photos from the reveal. Scroll to the bottom of the story and check them out in the Related Gallery. Back in May, Chevrolet introduced a redesigned Camaro. Now, and not at all surprisingly, the Bowtie brand is showing off the latest Camaro convertible, based on the coupe that debuted on Belle Isle in Detroit. From the beltline down, this is the same car that was so well-received last month. But above the waist, there's an all-new, fully automatic canvas roof that can be raised and lowered at speeds up to 30 miles per hour. On top of that, owners will be able to drop the roof remotely by simply pressing a button on the key. Chevy does not, however, say if this new convertible roof is lighter than last year's top. The biggest change for the Camaro convertible, though, is something we've long yearned for – a proper hard tonneau cover that deploys over the folded roof. The current muscle car's roof fabric has the unpleasant tendency to flap in the breeze. The new droptop shouldn't have that problem, and will likely boast an even cleaner top-down profile to boot. Like the hardtop, though, the Camaro convertible does benefit from the same lightweight structure, that helps trim "at least" 200 pounds of body fat. It should also make use of the same powertrain lineup, with a turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.6-liter V6, and a 6.2-liter V8 with six-speed manuals or eight-speed automatic transmissions spanning the lineup. "From the beginning, the Camaro's architecture was developed to incorporate a convertible with uncompromised driving dynamics," Camaro chief engineer Al Oppenheiser said in the attached release. "Customers will appreciate what they don't feel: quivers, cowl shake or an under-damped chassis typically found in a four-seat convertible." Increased refinement, a cleaner look, better driving dynamics and a more usable convertible roof? We're looking forward to you 2016 Camaro convertible. Chevy claims the new car arrives in "early 2016," which means we should plan on seeing this droptop at the typically cold and snowy Detroit Auto Show. Until then, check out the full press release from Chevrolet.
