Real 16867 SS Convertible

If you are looking for a 1966 Impala Convertible to tinker with and drive once in a while this car is sadly not for you. However, if you are a true collector looking for a unmolested, prime example of a real deal 1966 Impala SS Convertible that you can hop in, turn the key, and drive on a 500 mile road trip with less worry than a brand new Toyota, this car may be for you. This car needs nothing. This is a 2 owner Nevada Impala SS Convertible that was on long term display in a now defunct Las Vegas Casino and subsequently sold off as part of a estate and completely gone through to make sure every light, every signal, every idiot light is working the way it should be. This car recently completed a long rod trip to ensure everything was up to par before I offered it for sale. This car is a true documented 66000 mile car with no stories or excuses.

This Impala is truly a unrestored marvel. With only one repaint in code R Regal Red, and a convertible top replacement, and general service and up keep this car is untouched. This is a super straight car that is turn key. Chrome and brightwork is original to the car and in excellent shape. Tires are newer and in excellent shape. All the brakes, hoses, ect. were recently replaced. Heads were pulled and a fresh valve job and a simple regasketing of the engine was performed, as well as to install hardened valve seats to make the car more pump gas friendly and to mitigate and harm that could be done long term due to todays unleaded fuel.

The car has had one base/clear repaint and it shows very well very few minor touch ups. The interior is as new. It had seat covers on the car all it's life until recently. The convertible top was replaced and it's electric motor and cylinders were replaced to ensure trouble free operation. The exhaust was replaced with a stock style aluminized exhaust. This car does not need ANYTHING.

I am a collector who is liquidating part of my collection because I just do not get to use these cars much anymore, however this is not a fire sale. You can buy a non SS incorrect car that has had floors and quarters put on it for less money. If you want a uncut car that is absolutely correct and no one can complain about, this is it. This is not a expense, this is a appreciating asset.

Car Club USA: Corvette Homecoming

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Car Club USA travels to Bowling Green, KY to document the annual Corvette Homecoming, where owners travel from around the country to reconnect with the manufacturing birthplace of their vehicles. We follow two contestants in the "Show and Shine" competition, for whom the human connection at the event is just as important as showing off their wheels. "That's probably the biggest thing about this weekend," says one attendee, "there's a connection with Corvette people." Of course, the grandeur seeing stunners like a 1959 Corvette convertible, 1966 Big Block and 2002 Z06 is worth the price of admission. Get a firsthand look at the Homecoming experience, and the folks that make it so special. Each Car Club USA episode features a different car club or event from across the US, where passionate owner communities gather to share automotive experiences and embark on incredible adventures. From Main Street cruises to off-road trails, catch all the latest car club activity on Autoblog. Canada opens probe into 250,000 GM pickups, SUVs over brake performance

Sun, Jun 23 2019

Transport Canada, the auto safety regulator, has opened a probe into braking issues in nearly 250,000 General Motors full-size pickups and SUVs after U.S. officials launched a similar probe last year, the agency said on its website. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in November into 2.73 million U.S. 2014-2016 model year SUVs and pickups after receiving 487 reports of hard brake pedal effort accompanied by extended stopping distance that were attributed to deterioration of the engine-driven brake assist vacuum pump. Transport Canada's probe covers 249,700 2015 through 2017 model year vehicles including the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon as well as 2014-2017 Chevrolet Silverado LD and GMC Sierra LD vehicles. The U.S. agency said it had reports of nine incidents of vehicles incurring damage as a result of colliding with another vehicle or fixed object at low speeds and reports of two injuries. NHTSA said if the pump fails to operate, the amount of brake power assist can be significantly reduced, extending vehicle stopping distance. The NHTSA sent GM an information request in a Feb. 7 letter. A GM spokesman said he had no update on the investigation. Reporting by David Shepardson; editing by Jonathan Oatis

Best and Worst GM Cars

Thu, Apr 7 2022

Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded.  While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.
