Introduction

This is an number matching Impala Super Sport with red interior and exterior.  It has been pampered and is a survivor from a great era.  The number matching 327/300 hp motor runs like a dream. The engine still hosts the original #3721 Carter AFB with the glass filter bowl. As well, the car hosts factory air conditioning that works and all is in tacked.  The ignition system still has the points and condenser.
What are some of the options that the car has?  Tinted windows, dual mirrors (with correct Chevy emblems), padded dash, factory tach, power steering, and power brakes. The tires are all new TA radial tires and host the original SS factory hubcaps that are in good to excellent shape.
We are the forth owners of this greatly preserved 1964 SS.  She was pretty much original with 2,238 miles showing on the odometer when we bought the car twenty years ago.  The odometer is now showing 12,648 at this printing.

History of this 1964 Impala Super Sport
We bought the car from Rick Spears in 3/7/1994.  He was the owner of Spears restaurants inWichitaKS at the time we bought the car. I (Bill Garfield) called the two previous owners in 1998. The following is a detail account of what they told me concerning the history of the car.
Mr. Spears brought the car from Mr. Simmon Salazar and owned the car from 1992-1993. Mr. Spears had no work done on the car.  It was garaged at his house and only driven occasionally.
Mr. Simmon Salazar bought the car from the original owner in 1991.  He repainted the car, changing the color to red.  He lives (at least when I talked to him) 242 S. Popula in Wichita,KS.  His number is/was 316-262-2418.  He told me the car was all original when he bought the car from the owner in 1991.  He owned the car two year.
Break Down of Owners.
The original owners owned the car from 1964 to 1991 (27 years)
Mr. Simmon Salazar owned the car from 1991 to 1993 (2 years )
Rick Spears owned the car from 1993 to Mar 7th 1994 1 years (present number of Spears Catering in Wichita, KS 316-943-2783)
Bill and Pam Garfield bought the car 3/7/1994 (19 years to date)
The car has spent 90% of it’s time in several storage locals mostly in Wichita, KS after we bought the car, then in Paola, KS at Don Hadlock cabinet shop.  Don Hadlock’s number is913-294-3668.  When in storage, was always placed on jack stands, cover and started periodically.

GM reportedly developing 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder

Mon, May 15 2023

General Motors is allocating a massive amount of resources to developing electric technology, but it's not forgetting about the gasoline-powered cars that make up the bulk of its sales. It's reportedly designing a new 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine based on its 2.7. Citing "sources familiar with the matter," enthusiast website GM Authority wrote that the 2.5-liter four is "in [the] final stages of development," meaning it should be announced sooner rather than later (assuming the report is accurate). Technical details are few and far between as of writing. The publication learned that the 2.5 will be part of the Cylinder Set Strategy (CSS) family of engines and that it will be mechanically related to the 2.7-liter currently found in the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, among several other models. It will feature dual overhead camshafts. It's too early to tell which models the 2.5-liter four-cylinder will end up in, or how much power it will generate. The output will likely depend on the application. For context, the 2.7 delivers 310 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 348 pound-feet of torque between 1,500 and 4,000 rpm in the Silverado. In the smaller Colorado, it provides anywhere between 237 and 310 horsepower depending on the trim level selected. While this is pure speculation, our crystal ball tells us the engine will end up powering crossovers. It's an easy deduction to make. We can't imagine it will be offered in the Silverado, and seeing it in the Colorado is unlikely because its entry-level engine develops 237 horsepower; there's likely not much of a market for a midsize truck with 200 or so horsepower. Putting it in the Corvette wouldn't make sense and the Camaro has nearly reached the end of its life cycle without a successor planned. This leaves us with Chevrolet's range of crossovers, like the Equinox, as well as their GMC-, Buick-, and Cadillac-branded counterparts. We're not discounting the possibility that the cars set to receive the 2.5 haven't been unveiled, but those are likely crossovers, too; the odds of seeing another big Chevy sedan are very, very low. General Motors hasn't commented on the report, and it hasn't publicly announced plans to expand its CSS family of engines. If the report is accurate, we should learn more about the new turbocharged, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine in the not-too-distant future. Compact SUV Comparison: Specs, pics and reviews of every brand's crossover

Wed, Jul 25 2018

Honda CR-V vs Toyota RAV4. Chevy Equinox vs Ford Escape. Mazda CX-5 vs Subaru Forester. Whichever combinations of compact crossover SUV you're considering, there's probably a comparison test or chart out there to read. Heck, you can even create a three-car comparison yourself here at Autoblog. However, if you want a bunch of that information all in one convenient place, well, here it is. Our mega comparison of specs, features and photos of compact SUV entries from every mainstream manufacturer that sells them. That includes the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, 2018 Ford Escape, 2018 GMC Terrain, 2018 Honda CR-V, 2018 Hyundai Tucson, 2019 Jeep Cherokee (it's already on sale with notable changes from 2018), 2018 Jeep Compass, 2018 Kia Sportage, 2018 Mazda CX-5, 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (none of Mitsu's SUVs are perfect fits for this segment, so we deemed the MEC the most competitive fit), 2018 Nissan Rogue, 2018 Subaru Forester, 2018 Toyota RAV4 and 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. We can update this comparison as more information about 2019 models is released, most notably the Forester and RAV4. Now, there are certainly some models that are smaller (Nissan Rogue Sport) or larger (Kia Sorento) that could also be considered, but we figured it was wise to stick with those in this sweet spot of comparable size and price. We also included links to Autoblog reviews, buying guides and smaller comparisons. Engines and Transmissions With rare exception, this segment features four-cylinder power. Sometimes it's turbocharged, often its not, but standard engine outputs are generally in the same ballpark. Therefore, we'd recommend focusing on torque output, as it's what will make a difference around town or when passing, and weighing that versus fuel economy (the Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain, Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 make particularly strong cases in this regard). Many drivers aren't too fond of continuously variable transmissions (CVT), either, so that's another thing to consider and note during a test drive. As you can see, several models are available with performance upgrades. Besides the Jeep Cherokee's available V6, all are more powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The exception to this would be the Honda CR-V and Ford Escape, as their 1.5-liter turbo engines don't prioritize performance. Instead, they serve as overall upgrades to the base naturally aspirated engines standard on only their base trim levels (CR-V LX and Escape S).
