You are bidding on a barn find 1960 Impala that has been off the road since 1986. This car has lived its life with only two owners. The first till 86 then it was sold to a local gentleman who used it for his photo studio. The car has sat for so long in one spot the radial tires had separated from where the car sat. It is an all original v8 sport coupe. It is a factory power pack car with factory 4 barrel carb, intake, and air cleaner. It has very little changed on it since 1960. It has virtually no rust on visible in 3 spots that are MINOR. The first spot is on the drivers side rear quarter in front of tire(very small size of quarter) 2nd spot is behind drivers side rear wheel on the quarter lip low(paint is raised not rusted thru) and 3rd is passenger side in front of rear tire. I have taken close ups of all these areas. There are a couple spots where the lacquor paint is craked. The floors and trunk are RUST FREE. Trunk has orange areas of surface rust but NOT SCALEY OR ANY KIND OF RUST HOLES. This is from water getting under the factory mat. The trunk still has all the original cardboard in the trunk. The car was undercoated at the dealer and that has saved the car. The interior in the car still has the original dealer installed plastic seat covers over the ULTRA RARE 2 tone Turquois interior. The glass is amazing in the car. The steering wheel is one of the nicest unrestored wheels I have ever seen. The car has the optional padded dash and it is cracked. The carpet does have wear and stains. The rear package tray looks like brand new. When this car wasn't driven it was stored inside a shed. The paint on the car appears to be about 90 percent original. It has been touched up in areas mentioned earlier. The paint shines nice for its age. It does have typical minor dings, scratches, etc for an original paint car. I have replaced tires with new radials, valve cover gaskets, and had the tranny gone thru(new seals, gaskets, etc). It still has the original orange ink on the air cleaner that says AC delco. I have also replaced the rear tail light lenses. Car runs great without issues. The brakes do pull to the right so they will need gone thru. The gauges all worked whenever I have driven it. I have put around 35 miles on it(not easy to find a day with dry roads this time of year in Iowa). This is a hard to find car in amazing original shape. I can help arrange shipping anywhere in Cont US and will help any International bidders to get it to a shipping port. Shipping tx 500,ca 700,ny 650,wa 750(I will need exact zip code for exact price for shipping)Any questions feel free to ask. Please look at my feedback and bid with confidence.

GM Recalls 218,000 Chevy Aveo Models Over Fire-Prone Lighting
Wed, May 21 2014The recall train keeps on rolling for General Motors. Hot on the heels of its recent 2.4 million-vehicle recall of various models, it's now calling in 218,000 Chevrolet Aveo units from the 2004-2008 model years because they could catch fire. The problem concerns the daytime running light module in the instrument panel. It could overheat, melt and cause a fire. According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, "We are aware of some fires," and the company "is still investigating." Adler wouldn't comment about how many fires were reported or when the automaker was first aware of this issue because of the ongoing analysis. However, he said the issue has not caused any injuries or fatalities. GM also doesn't have a fix for the problem with the DRL module yet. The company says in its recall statement to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the remedy "is still under development." Adler wasn't sure when it would be ready, but he said Aveo owners would receive notification in the mail "relatively soon." They will receive a second letter later to schedule the repair. In a separate letter about the Aveo's problem to NHTSA (viewable here as a PDF), GM said its Executive Field Action Decision Committee decided to conduct the recall on May 16. Scroll down for the recall report. RECALL Subject : Daytime Running Light Module Overheating Report Receipt Date: MAY 19, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V261000 Component(s): Potential Number of Units Affected: 218,000 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Chevrolet Aveo vehicles equipped with daytime running lights (DRL). In the affected vehicles, there may be heat generated within the DRL module located in the center console in the instrument panel, which could melt the DRL module. CONSEQUENCE: If the DRL module melts due to the heat generation, it could cause a vehicle fire. REMEDY: The remedy for this recall campaign is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). General Motors recall number for this campaign is 14236. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
GM's labor deal with UAW union on verge of ratification
Thu, Nov 16 2023Nov 15 (Reuters) - General Motors' tentative labor deal with the United Auto Workers (UAW) union closed in on ratification as the votes were counted on Wednesday. Following the approval earlier in the day by more than 60% of union members at the Detroit automaker's large Arlington, Texas, assembly plant, additional votes in favor have the deal close to clinching majority approval. The number of union locals, most of which are smaller, still to report vote totals is not large. After several large assembly plants voted against the deal earlier on Wednesday, some media had reported the deal was heading toward failure. But Arlington's support, followed by strong voting in favor by smaller warehouse and parts facilities, has put the deal on the brink of approval. This would mark the first ratification of a deal, which runs through April 2028, with one of the Detroit Three automakers. Ford and Stellantis voting is still under way, and workers at both companies were favoring ratification by comfortable margins. The UAW's GM vote tracking site currently shows approval of the contract leading by a 54% to 46% margin with almost 32,000 workers having cast votes out of about 46,000 UAW-represented GM workers. The Arlington plant, with about 5,000 UAW members, has the most of any GM plant. Voting officially ends on Thursday at 4 p.m. EST, although most votes will be cast on Wednesday. The UAW went on strike for more than six weeks against the Detroit Three, seeking better wages, working conditions and cost-of-living adjustments. All three companies agreed to tentative agreements about two weeks ago. Workers at other GM assembly plants voted against the deal, including 60% of workers at its Fort Wayne, Indiana, truck plant, 53% at its Wentzville, Missouri, plant, 58% of workers at GM's Lansing Grand River plant and 61% of workers at the Lansing Delta Township plant. Seven of GM's 11 assembly plants rejected the deal. In addition to Arlington, workers at plants in Detroit, Fairfax, Kansas; and Lake Orion, Michigan; approved the agreement. Only nine facilities are still listed without vote totals on the UAW vote tracker, including GM's Lockport, New York, components plant with about 1,200 members. Those voting in favor of the agreement have a lead of almost 2,500 and many of the facilities still to come include workers who stand to receive large pay increases upon ratification.
