1959 Chevy Impala 4 door Sedan

VIN F59N227214

89k actual miles, motor has been went through and starts easy, runs strong.  The trunk and floorboards all appear very solid.   The "GoldFish Bowl' windshield is in wonderful condition and these cars of the day were known for their excellent visibility.

Original motor is a 283 V8 with 195 hp, and transmission is the Power Glide and best of all -  owned by ONE family since purchased new - stored in garages and carports it's entire life.  Also, interior redone professionally to a color and style very authentic to the 1950's style and it matches the car very nicely.  The car has had some bondo filler and really looks good.  It does not have power brakes or power steering and the brakes will need worked on soon.

The car is a good daily driver as is.  Paint was redone in past 10 years, it stills looks really good with just a few flaws.  There is a paint peel on the side door on the driver side, rear door area.  There are other imperfections such as mild pitting on chrome - door handles.  The seals around the windows, especially in the rear are dry rotted.  Tires have very good tread but have sat for several years and may need replaced if this car is driven home to it's new owners destination.  Letter "A" missing on the Impala wording on the driver side.

There are some imperfections on the glass which the owner tells me came from issues when the car was repainted and sanding, etc.  Some bubbling of the glass around the edges mainly.

Light damage to the rear bumper area, a sort of bubbling.  Headlights work and turn signals also, rear left brake light is out.  Rear chrome trim in one spot has a small dent.

We have been selling classic cars for 8 years, I am really meticulous with checking the car condition.  Please bid and buy with confidence and let our feedback speak for itself.  Add $100 to the selling price to account for the documentation expenses, etc.  We will accomodate anyone who wants to inspect this car as well.

Watch a 2015 Corvette Z06 run the quarter in 11.7 seconds

Sun, Dec 28 2014

We're not writing about this because it's an amazing run, we're writing about it because it appears to be the first run. Someone took a 2015 Corvette Z06 to Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas and blasted it down through the quarter mile. It's still wearing the dealer number in wax pen on the windshield and dealer plates, so this example is fresh from the mold. It's also a seven-speed manual. General Motors said the row-your-own Z06 can do the 'strip in 11.2 seconds, and they undoubtedly had a professional driver and more than one run to set that time. To have Just Some Guy show up at the raceway and do an 11.7 at 120.54 mph on his first run means we expect good things to come as Z06s get delivered to their owners. Check out the run in the video.

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra show all their sides in Detroit

Tue, 15 Jan 2013

There could hardly be more riding on the next-generation General Motors full-size pickup trucks, so the automaker has wisely made sure to have a selection of different models on hand at the Detroit Auto Show to show off. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra were both officially introduced last month at a stand-alone reveal, and now they'll be on display for the public to see in various body configurations and trim levels.
The Silverado LTZ Crew Cab and Sierra SLE Extended Cab are aimed at providing more of a high-end pickup experience, while the Silverado LT Z71 Extended Cab and Sierra SLT Z71 Crew Cab should have off-road fans scouting out their favorite trails. The crew cab trucks won't go into production until sometime during the second quarter of this year - with other bodystyles coming later in the year - but we have plenty of live images from Detroit for you to enjoy.
