If you're looking for an affordable ElCamino that runs and drives with a nice list of options, this is it! with a small list of repairs, you'll be on the road and ready to drive cross-country!

This is a 1984 "WHITE GOLD" edition SS with full gauge dash, tilt wheel, cruise control, completely intact and possibly working A/C, sunroof, a very presentable interior, a rust free bed that has been treated to RHINOLINER, aftermarket aluminum wheels [center caps not there, and I don't have original wheels FYI]

LOOK AT THE PICS, THEY WILL LIKELY ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS! FOR THE STARTING BID, AND WHAT WILL PROBABLY BE THE FINAL PRICE-  IT WILL BE HARD TO FIND A BETTER QUICK-FIX ELCAMINO THAT IS TURN-KEY! HERE'S THE "BAD" stuff, everything else that is good is very evident in the photos, but I'll mention most of the good as well... the driver side door issues: pull strap needs the decorative cap and screw, hinge pin bushings are sloppy, and outer door handle is cracked. DRIVER'S REAR QUATER has a significant [about 3-4" diameter] dent on the corner by the tailgate. RANDOM rust along the bottom edges of rockers, quarter panel, and some spots coming through over the rear wheel lips, rear brake line needs to be replaced, or possibly rear wheel cylinder- I'd bet on line- need to top off rear zone of master rather often- its last drive was about 25 miles and it needed a refill. Paint is about 90% original, with factory "WHITE GOLD" decals and stripes, some touch ups over the rear wheel well, can see in pics, wrong color gold spray paint..and it needs a new headliner, as with all GM's, THAT'S THE BAD, AND WHY ITS SOOOO CHEAP!!!  Some good points to consider: all the factory options listed above, THIS WAS OWNED BY AN ELDERLY GENTLEMAN MOST OF ITS LIFE, USED REGULARLY, HENCE THE MINOR RUST. THAT SAID HE ALSO HAD NO REASON TO MODIFY ANYTHING!! All of the cruise control, A/C compontents/system, and all emissions control BS is there... the only modification is see is he or someone later, drill "breathing holes" along the top edge of the air cleaner. has a recent factory replacement "fake dual exhaust" 1 in muffler, 2 out, with chrome tips.

This car/pickup/ElCamino was daily driven until the summer of '13 when the brake issu started, the previous onwer had a baby, so between the brakes needing fluid and no room for a car seat, I bought it so he could have a deposit on a family car with no time to worry about Craigslist or eBay auctions, and now I pass the great deal onto the eBay public! None of the cars in the background are for sale, exc the Plymouth wagon and 57 Fury, those are, but only being stored for a friend.

Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.

CNG-powered Chevy Sonic, Cruze headed your way

Fri, Nov 7 2014

The value proposition for a Crazy Diamond Performance CNG ride was a little bit better before gas prices took a dive in the past month. Still, the Michigan-based company, which converts some of Chevrolet's compact vehicles to run on compressed natural gas, received approval late last month from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for two of its conversion models. And CNG is still pretty cheap. Crazy Diamond will start selling CNG versions of both the Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Sonic. The startup will target fleet operators looking to cut both refueling costs and their carbon footprint. CNG can be found in much of the country in the low $2 range, while the average CO2 emissions are about 25 percent less than those of similar gas-powered vehicles. Average gas prices have tumbled by more than 30 cents a gallon in the last month, according to AAA, but they're still at close to $3. The two models will be able to go almost 300 miles on a full tank of CNG. Crazy Diamond said this summer that it would start selling converted a CNG-powered Cruze that delivers 130 horsepower for as low as $26,000. The turbocharged version goes for about $28,000. Take a look at Crazy Diamond Performance's celebratory press release below. Crazy Diamond Performance recieves EPA approval on its CNG Cruze and Sonic CDP receives EPA approval for its Mono-Fuel CNG Cruze and Sonic. Shelby Township, Michigan, October 30, 2014– Crazy Diamond Performance (CDP) receives EPA approval on its Mono-Fuel Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Sonic. Crazy Diamond Performance has received EPA approval on two new mono-fuel small passenger vehicles, the CNG Chevrolet Cruze and CNG Chevrolet Sonic. These new mono-fuel CNG platforms are the first of a series of small and fuel efficient vehicles coming from CDP, where cost, low emissions and reduced fuel consumption is important for not only fleet owners, but to the general public as well. "Soon to be available, are the 1.8L and 1.4L Cruze and Sonic CNG retrofit systems. These two vehicles represent a change in the status quo, with an OEM level integration of the fuel system and its components" states Michelle Fern, Executive Vice President CDP Inc. These vehicles provide flexibility for fleets looking to purchase a domestic small mono-fuel passenger sedan, but have not had an option until now. There are significant emissions benefits over its gasoline counterpart, with an average reduction in Carbon Dioxide (CO2) of 25%.

How GM engineers are using diaper 'snow' to keep you warm

Thu, Jan 8 2015

Testing how snow affects General Motors' vehicles isn't really a problem right now for the company's engineers, but in the dog days of summer the process isn't exactly easy. The only real option is for them to book time at the automaker's climatic wind tunnel. However, a flash of brilliance from an engineer allows snow to be simulated regardless of the temperature outside, and the discovery is all because of his daughter's wet diaper. The realization came to GM Thermal Systems engineer Nicholas Jahn while he was swimming with his daughter and noticed how her diaper ballooned in size in the water. He found out the substance that makes this possible is called sodium polyacrylate. When the material gets wet it grows and forms fluffy flakes that are a close imitation of snow. Best of all, the stuff can be prepared easily any time of the year, and it's reusable. The engineering team uses the material to test the effectiveness of the heating systems of GM's vehicles. They spread the sodium polyacrylate over the inlets at the base of the windshield to obstruct the airflow and then crank the heater. After some time, they can see how much is being sucked into the system and design more efficient systems in the future. See how the process works in the video above and read about the diaper discovery in GM's press release below. Diapers Change Chevy Cruze Winter Warm-up Time GM validation engineer uses diaper material "snow" to reduce frigid drives 2015-01-06 DETROIT – An item commonly found on an infant's changing table is helping General Motors' engineers simulate snow year round, ensuring heating systems in cars like the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze can quickly and efficiently warm its interior. Packed snow can prevent air from entering the inlet panel at the bottom of the windshield, obstructing the flow of air into the heating system and reducing the amount of air it can push out. This can lead to less efficient warming of the car's interior and windshield defrosting. "The last thing anyone wants to do when it's freezing cold out is scrape their windshield," said Nicholas Jahn, GM Vehicle Thermal Systems engineer. "The testing we perform on the Chevrolet Cruze with the diaper material allows us to maximize the car's heating capabilities." Ironically, Jahn stumbled upon his diaper-based testing method in the middle of summer. During a swim with his daughter, he noticed her diaper multiplied in size when it came into contact with water.
