Chevrolet El Camino - Original Build Sheet, Bill of Sale, User Manual included.

1977 El Camino SUPER SPORT with 1982 Illinois title.  Last year of 4th Gen Model (73-77) of 54,321 total units sold, 5,226 had Super Sport option.  Runs and drives great with a 305 V8 2 barrel.  Most SS may have had 350 V8, but Z15 SS PACKAGE a trim option in 77.

Last painted in 1983 (have receipt) original black color and has original black interior with factory swivel bucket seats.  All glass good, one crack across center of dash, but seats, door panels, gauges and headliner really clean.  Door seals appear original, typical wear but not shredded so still functional.  Note-the paint has a lot of shine and the chrome/trim is in great shape.

Car built Fremont CA, delivered to Racine WI and sold on July 16th, 1977 for $6,693.65 ($100.00 deposit! 1976 Camaro trade!).

Original Rally Wheels with brand new tires.  I detailed motor and had a body shop professionally fix a small hole under the passenger seat (nothing to worry about).  I was going to do some other detailing, but decided to back-off so purchaser can appreciate patina and not wonder about anything hidden.

There are two areas small rust concerns (photos included).   Very lower rear quarter panel (front side of wheel opening) on both sides.  Drivers side a bit worse than the passenger side, but still minor and standing next to car you really cannot see it.  Underside of car and under doors solid along with tailgate.  All chrome really nice and the stainless edge around bed appears to be exceptionally dent and scuff free.  The rear interior carpet panel inside the car is missing and I decided to leave out, but saw on eBay for $65-$75.  I have the jack, spare tire and trim pieces and storage bucket for rear area.  The power locks are not working but clicking in dash so likely relay.  Nice original GM floor mats found under the old shag carpeting I took out.

Drive it, show it, restore it - this a really neat car with documentation and good options. Have fun!

This is your 2014 Chevrolet SS

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

Think you've waited long enough for this? If so, then you'll want to savor the high-res photos we've so far been given of the 2014 Chevrolet SS, the first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan from The Bowtie in 17 years.
We all know its our version of the brand new VF-model Holden Commodore, but what's under the hood that earns the appellation "performance?" A 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine producing 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. That's 35 hp and lb-ft less than the same engine is expected to produce in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. Chevrolet says the sedan will get from 0-to-60 miles per hour "in about five seconds."
Shifting comes courtesy of a six-speed automatic with paddles on the steering wheel, while stopping arrive via four-piston Brembo calipers up front, a single sliding piston in back. The forged aluminum wheels are 19-inchers all around, each set supporting right around 50 percent of the sedan's weight, and the aluminum hood and trunk are meant to keep the center of gravity low.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.

First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.
