1971 Chevrolet El Camino Custom Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 5.7l on 2040-cars
Spokane, Washington, United States
|
This car has lived a very pampered life. about 20 years ago a man from Southern Oregon went searching for an El Camino for his wife. He set out to find the perfect car and ran across a gentleman from Northern California wine country. He had a 1970 with factory A/C that he had purchased for his wife to run parts and supplies back and forth from town to the winery. He purchased the car and took it back to Oregon where he took it apart and rebuilt it for his wife. Over the years the car started to show wear and tear of every day use, so he parked the car and found another El Camino and rebuilt that one. I purchased the 1970 and drove it to Spokane where I re-freshened his restoration. New paint, suspension, carburetor, engine tune, brakes, bed liner, interior detail. I repaired the cowl induction hood and some electrical problems. I don't know the exact mileage on the vehicle but the car has about 60,000 miles since the original restoration. Roy told me that when he was doing the original restoration he had rebuilt the motor and transmission. When I serviced the transmission and adjusted the valves I agree the car shows very little wear in the motor, transmission, or undercarriage. I didn't see any signs of rust or bondo in the car. When I took the suspension apart the parts showed age but were not worn out. All the sheet metal line up properly. I do not believe this is an original SS car but the badge on the grill and the cowl induction hood were there when I purchased the car. This car runs wonderful and drives better than expected for it's age. Roy couldn't remember the size of cam he put in the original rebuild but the car has a little lope plenty of power and a great sound. Call Rick for more information 509-290-2441.

Chevy Bolt officially keeping name, says marketing boss
Thu, Apr 16 2015There might be just a little confusion at first, but the Bolt name is sticking around. After conducting two consumer studies into the name, Chevrolet isn't worried about the similarity of the monikers for the upcoming EV and existing Volt plug-in hybrid. In fact, the brand thinks the resemblance might be for the best. "The decision is made. The name won't be changed." Chevy head of marketing Tim Mahoney said to The Detroit Free Press. The research shows that the compatibility between the two names actually works quite well. With the Volt well established, people apparently already connect the Bolt to the Bowtie, which is just what a brand wants. Both studies indicated the ""same result, it did well," according to Mahoney. Just a few months ago, the future of the Bolt's name wasn't so clear. GM North America President Alan Batey said the company knew there might be confusion, and it was still mulling its options. The Bolt could be a breakthrough in the EV market with a 200-mile range and a possible price of around $30,000 after incentives. Production is set for the Orion Assembly plant in Michigan following a $200 million upgrade there, and the model could be in dealers as soon as 2017. That's just in time to take on the Tesla Model 3 with its claimed $35,000 price and similar driving distance as the Chevy. Related Video:
Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain
Sat, Aug 9 2014Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S. Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head
Mon, Dec 29 2014Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.
