1989 Ford Mustang Lx Convertible 2.3l on 2040-cars
El Cajon, California, United States
Rebuilt original 2.3L engine with an Esslinger aluminum head. The rebuilt motor has approx. 100,000 miles on it. Would be a great option to turbo! The block has the plugs required for it, has a crower solid roller camshaft, Weisco forged pistons, 9:1 compression ratio, Esslinger windage tray installed, Mass air setup, SCT chip with custom tune that could be re-tuned if decided to turbo. Was a turbo project car that I just don't have time or money to finish. (Currently dynoed at 118 RWHP)
Car handels well, HR lowering kit, GT swaybars, tubular rear control arms. The wheels are 17" Cobra R's. 5 Speed manual transmission As seen in the pictures the car definitely needs paint, however the body is fairly straight, with only minor door dings. The convertible top is functional (good hydraulics) and the top itself was replaced last year so has plenty of life left. The wheels have clearcoat that is chipping but can easily be doctored up. Driverside rear window does not roll up by itself, needs assistance to roll up. Interior wise the seats have some tears, carpet is in ok shape. There is one rock chip in the windshield and it is semi-pitted. The car does need new cats and front lower control arm bushings. Brakes are in good shape, transmission reliable and working. If you have any questions feel free to call me! (619) Five Zero Four, Seven Two Four Six |

Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow
Thu, 14 Feb 2013After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.
GM extends production at Detroit factory until early 2020
Fri, Feb 22 2019General Motors Co said on Friday it had extended the production at its Detroit Hamtramck plant until January 2020, against an earlier plan to discontinue production in June this year. The No.1 U.S. automaker is revamping its operations, which include plant closures and thousands of job cuts, as it looks to boost profitability in the wake of declining U.S. auto sales. The Hamtramck plant will continue to produce the Chevrolet Impala and Cadillac CT6 sedans until early next year, the company said. "We are balancing production timing while continuing the availability of Cadillac advanced technology features currently included in the CT6-V — the Blackwing Twin-Turbo V-8 (engine) and Super Cruise (driver assistance system)," GM said. The plant has already discontinued production of the Buick LaCrosse sedan and Chevrolet Volt electric hybrid car. Detroit-based union United Auto Workers' President Gary Jones said GM's decision to continue production at the plant was a relief for the workers as well as their families. "We commend GM for today's decision and we reiterate the importance of a collective bargaining process in times like these," Jones said. Reporting by Ankit Ajmera. Related Video:
Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works
Fri, 22 Mar 2013When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.
