1991 Corvette Convertible

Unmolested, completely stock. Adult owned.

Bright red, saddle leather.

6 speed manual transmission.

The car is fully equipped including ABS and driver side airbag, plus it has the following factory options

        hardtop with storage stand

dual power sport seats

electronic climate control

Delco-Bose sound system incl. CD

engine oil cooler

In addition it has a built-in radar detector, and factory and custom alarm systems.

I have full service records, owners manual, original window sticker, remotes etc.

Only 52,000 documented miles.

I’m the second owner, have owned the car for 20 years. Used in the summer only, car was always garaged and covered in climate controlled environment.

Always hand washed.

At 48,000 miles, before the factory warranty expired, the dealer installed a brand new 6 speed transmission (not a rebuilt unit), a new clutch, new rear spring and suspension bushings and a brand new tan convertible top.

The car is in excellent conditions, runs and drives perfectly. The paint and interior are beautiful.

I’m a private party with a number of collector cars.

The Corvette is one of my summer toys and during my ownership was never driven in the rain.

Even though I have driven it very little (less than 7,000 miles in 20 years), I believe in preventive maintenance.

I recently spent over $1,800. for a major tune-up including new platinum plugs, wires, distributor cap, new injectors (rather expensive), new fuel pump and filter.

In addition I just replaced the battery and the water pump and had a Bosch alternator installed.

At the same time the A/C system was serviced.

If you look at the long list of items I replaced over the last 4000 miles, including what was done under warranty, you realize what kind of a deal you are getting with this car.

Eventually these parts would have to be replaced on any Corvette you buy, as you accumulate miles.

Here it is all done, with some of the items being replaced before necessary, strictly as preventive maintenance.

I will consider trading for a Mercedes, such as CLK, E350, newer C-Class etc., since we need a car for my wife with automatic transmission.

Please contact me for any further question at (914) 827-7404  after 10AM EST

Since the car is advertised locally, I reserve the right to cancel this listing at any time

PS

I just noticed, that the Autocheck report shows an "accident" before I bought the car in 1993.
The previous owner mentioned, that the front bumper cover was scratched in a parking lot and he had it repainted. I guess he filed a claim.
This also explains the fact that there no are marks on the bumper cover, while the hood has some normal tiny chips if you look real close.

I also learned that there are very few convertibles with a 6 speed for sale. In my book this brings the fun part of driving this car, and the hard top extends the season and makes the car tighter.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible is the track car for sun worshippers

Fri, 11 Apr 2014

Supercharged, 6.2-liter V8? Check. Seven-speed manual? Check. Obsession with weight? Check.
What did you expect when Chevrolet said it was bringing a new Corvette variant to the 2014 New York Auto Show? Maybe a sticker and trim package, like the C6 Corvette Grand Sport or a tie-in deal like the Black Widow car from Chicago? On the opposite end, maybe there was an even more hardcore Z06 waiting in the wings. Who knew?

Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures

Tue, Jun 23 2020

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski  Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.

Chevy's low-cost pedestrian avoidance to debut on 2016 Malibu

Tue, Jul 28 2015

The mainstreaming of safety technologies that began on luxury vehicles will get a big boost from General Motors later this year. The General says it plans to offer 22 driver assistance systems across its product portfolio of 2016 models, starting with the redesigned Chevrolet Malibu - the one that we know will keep tabs on teenagers for the benefit of parents. Pedestrian avoidance will be another of its available options. Instead of kitting the sedan out with numerous and expensive radar arrays, the GM system uses the camera mounted next to the rearview mirror that is already used for the lane-keeping function. New software lets it detect pedestrians, and when it detects a potential collision with one, it can alert the driver and brake autonomously if the driver doesn't react. Eventually, engineers want to give it the ability to do the same with cyclists. Because it uses existing hardware updated with new code, GM says the application costs "a few hundred dollars." GM demonstrated the Front Pedestrian Braking preventing a crash with a dummy pedestrian at speeds up to 15 miles per hour. Automotive News reports that it will reduce the severity of impact up to 40 miles per hour, but "may not be of much use in collisions at higher speeds." That feature will also join the options list of the Cadillac CT6. The press release below has more on GM's driver tech soon on the way. Related Video: GM Paving Way to Smarter and Safer Driving at All-New Active Safety Test Area 22 crash-avoidance technologies offered on 2016 Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac models MILFORD, Mich. 2015-07-24 – Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac will offer 22 different active safety technologies across their 2016 model year U.S. lineups, ranging from driver alerts to those that automatically intervene and assist the driver in critical situations. Safety engineers will develop and test these and other safety technologies for products around the world at GM's new, 52-acre Active Safety Test Area at its Milford Proving Ground near Detroit. The $14 million facility officially opened Friday. "Our comprehensive safety strategy of helping customers before, during and after a crash continues," said Jeff Boyer, vice president of GM Global Vehicle Safety.
