1987 C4 Series Corvette Convertible. History of vehicle: Special ordered Sept 1986 in Tomball, Texas. Accepted delivery from dealer Dec 1986. One owner, beautiful new condition with only 4,936 original miles. Please make note: As far as we know, we believe this vehicle to have the lowest recorded original milage of any 1987 Corvette in existance today. In storage for 25 years except for yearly service checks. Originally titled in the state of Florida however now has a clear Texas title & registration. Texas moter vehicle inspection not completed until after new seats are installed. Vehicle engine (NOT) restored, modified or rebuilt including original factory body paint, window sticker, owners manual & original floor mats are in our possesion. Changes made are: New rear exhaust pipe system installed. 1988 Corvette 17" rims, Michelin 17" XGT sport tires were added because in our opinion the original 87 Corvette 16" rims & Goodyear tires were not suitable for the handling performace of the C4 series. Black convertible top recently replaced because rear plastic window turned cloudy/yellow due to aging which made it difficult to see out. Passenger side dash pad removed to accommodate Burlwood dash trim. Greenwood bottom front & rear ground effects were added/installed at time of 1986 delivery. Several batteries as they only last a few years however a quick disconect mechanism has been installed to isolate the battery from the electrical system preventing voltage loss & a dead battery. New sport leather seats, lumbar motors, bladders & switches are being installed by our mechanics as we complete this listing because the side seat arm front wing switches & inner seat electric motors, for reasons unkown to us, failed to operate correctly. Complete maintance history availabe on request from our mechanics who service the vehicle. Please be advised: Emission odmeter milage check on 11-20-2010 is in error & should have read 4,868 total miles. Please view odometer on picture gallery inserts for correct reading. In closing, a car that is not driven has more expensive upkeep than a car that is driven. Something is always going to go wrong or not work properly especially a Corvette of this age & circuitry which sits idle year after year. We have spent thousands of dollars on the upkeep of this vehicle & maintaining to the highest level of its original new condition. Please keep this info in mind if you decide to purchase the vehicle. Price tag $24,900. $2000.00 deposit required for purchase & is (NOT REFUNDABLE) Final payment certified cashiers bank check only. Your chance to own a piece of Corvette history that might not ever go up for sale again. At least not in this original condition & milage. A collectors dream come true. Please serious inquiries only. Any questions contact us through eBay by ask seller question link on listing.

We really want to use an eCrate to restomod an old GM car. Here's what we'd build
Fri, Oct 30 2020You hopefully saw the news today of GM's introduction of its Connect and Cruise eCrate motor and battery package, which effectively makes the Bolt's electric motor, battery pack and myriad other elements available to, ah, bolt into a different vehicle. It's the same concept as installing a gasoline-powered crate motor into a classic car, but with electricity and stuff. This, of course, got us thinking about what we'd stuff the eCrate into. Before we got too ahead of ourselves, however, we discovered that the eCrate battery pack is literally the Bolt EV pack in not only capacity but size and shape. In other words, you need to have enough space in the vehicle to place and/or stuff roughly 60% of a Chevy Bolt's length. It's not a big car, but that's still an awful lot of real estate. There's a reason GM chose to simply plop the pack into the bed and cargo area of old full-size SUVs. Well that, and having a rear suspension beefy enough to handle about 1,000 pounds of batteries. So after that buzz kill, we still wanted to peruse the GM back catalog for classics we'd love to see transformed into an electric restomod that might be able to swallow all that battery ... maybe ... possibly ... whatever, saws and blow torches exist for a reason. 1971 Buick Riviera Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski: If you’re going to build an electric conversion, why not do it with style? ThatÂ’s why IÂ’m choosing a 1971-1973 Buick Riviera. You know, the one with the big glass boat-tail rear end that ends in a pointy V. Being a rather large vehicle with a big sloping fastback shape, IÂ’m hoping thereÂ’s enough room in the trunk and back seat to pack in the requisite battery pack. That would likely require cutting away some of the metal bulkhead that supports the rear seatback, but not so much that a wee bit of structural bracing couldnÂ’t shore things up. The big 455-cubic-inch Buick V8 up front will obviously have to go. Remember, this was the 1970s, so despite all that displacement, the Riviera only had around 250 horsepower (depending on the year and the trim level). So the electric motorÂ’s 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque ought to work as an acceptable replacement.  1982 Chevrolet S10 Associate Editor Byron Hurd: OK, so the name "E-10" is already taken by a completely different truck, but let's not let labels get in the way of a fun idea.
Watch a 2015 Corvette Z06 run the quarter in 11.7 seconds
Sun, Dec 28 2014We're not writing about this because it's an amazing run, we're writing about it because it appears to be the first run. Someone took a 2015 Corvette Z06 to Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas and blasted it down through the quarter mile. It's still wearing the dealer number in wax pen on the windshield and dealer plates, so this example is fresh from the mold. It's also a seven-speed manual. General Motors said the row-your-own Z06 can do the 'strip in 11.2 seconds, and they undoubtedly had a professional driver and more than one run to set that time. To have Just Some Guy show up at the raceway and do an 11.7 at 120.54 mph on his first run means we expect good things to come as Z06s get delivered to their owners. Check out the run in the video.
Frustrated GM investors ask what more Mary Barra can do
Mon, Oct 22 2018DETROIT — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra has transformed the No. 1 U.S. automaker in her almost five years in charge, but that is still not enough to satisfy investors. Ahead of third-quarter results due on Oct. 31, GM shares are trading about 6 percent below the $33 per share price at which they launched in 2010 in a post-bankruptcy initial public offering. The Detroit carmaker's stock is down 22 percent since Barra took over in January 2014. After hitting an all-time high of $46.48 on Oct. 24, 2017, the shares have declined 33 percent. In the same period, the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed 7.8 percent. Several shareholders contacted by Reuters said GM could face a third major action by activist shareholders in less than four years if the share price does not improve. "I've been expecting it," said John Levin, chairman of Levin Capital Strategies. "It just seems a tempting morsel to somebody." Levin's firm owns more than seven million GM shares. Barra has guided the company through the settlement of a federal criminal probe of a mishandled safety recall, sold off money-losing European operations, and returned $25 billion to shareholders through dividends and stock buybacks from 2012 through 2017. GM declined to comment for this story, but the company's executives privately express frustration with the market's reluctance to see it as anything more than a manufacturer tied mainly to auto market sales cycles. GM's profitable North American truck and SUV business and its money-making China operations are valued at just $14 billion, excluding the value of GM's stake in its $14.6 billion Cruise automated vehicle business and its cash reserves from its $44 billion market capitalization. The recent slump in the Chinese market, GM's largest, and plateauing U.S. demand are ratcheting up the pressure. GM is one of the few global automakers without a founding family or a government to serve as a bulwark against corporate raiders. In 2015, a group led by investor Harry Wilson pressed GM to launch a $5 billion share buyback, and commit to what is now an $18 billion ceiling on the level of cash the company would hold. In 2017, GM fended off a call by hedge fund manager David Einhorn to split its common stock shares into two classes. Einhorn, whose firm still owned more than 21 million shares at the end of June, declined to comment about GM's stock price. Other investors said there were no clear alternatives to Barra's approach.
