Hi all! Up for bidding 1982 Chevrolet Corvette Collector Edition. This is a great opportunity for all you out there to get a rare Corvette and finish it to your liking. This is the last Sting Ray body type Chevy made and what's more significant this is the collector's edition which was limited and there aren't many of them left out there. Here is a short history of this car. I bought from a local guy here that couldn't finish this project. I started working on it and got the interior done by professional at Rod's by Design. They are local to me here and they mostly do show cars. This Corvette is after full off-frame restoration. Mechanically speaking she is flawless. The engine and tranny have been rebuild and since it was done there is only 11500 miles on it. It's very rare to find a Vette like this with this mileage. It roars and purrs wonderfully. The engine is stock however there is Mallory electrical distributor put in it. The AC compressor and air pump have been removed for more power. I do have those parts and they come included in this listing. This vehicle drives awesome and you can feel the power the moment you put the gas pedal down. The exhaust has been modified also. Instead of stock exhaust there are side exhaust pipes which makes her sound absolutely awesome and ferocious. Let me put it this way, if you are at the light and you rave the engine, all heads are turned as the sound is simply spectacular. All the wiring and suspension is also fully restored and practically brand new. The wheels are very exceptional as this is the only year and model of Corvette that those were released. The tires and rims are in perfect condition and show almost no usage. This vehicle was always stored for winter and only driven in the summer. There is no rust anywhere to find. As I mentioned before I have removed all of the interior and gave it to be restored by pros. All the interior is leather/suede. The steering wheel is refinished with suede. The seats are half leather half suede, all the foam and the plastic seat parts have been redone and refinished. There is hand made embroidery of the Corvette logo on the head rests. Door panels have also been redone and refinished. All vinyl/plastic parts including the dash have been repaired and refinished. I left the gauge bezel and console bezel in original brown. There is a metal plate there boasting the name of the first owner of the vehicle and I didn't want to change that. Locks have been removed from the doors for painting. There is a little body work done, specifically on the hood, however she needs buffing and priming before she gets the paint job done. That is the only thing to finish really, the paint job. I have installed some of the interior back together for showing purposes, however I will leave it uninstalled and save you some work as you would need to remove everything for painting anyway. I was planning to paint her pearl black as I believe it would look really nice with the polished side pipes. Overall, this beauty is 90% finished and there is very little to do. Here are few things that will need attention. The fuel gauge is stuck. I am pretty sure it's not the wiring, however I might be wrong. The hand brake light is on and it's due to the handle not releasing properly. I believe this is caused by an old spring in the handle itself. This doesn't affect the car however, the breaks release fully. The doors weather trims are not there and will need to be installed. Presently, there is no carpet. I have removed the old one. I can order a brand new one at any point and include it with the vehicle, however the buyer needs to choose the color. The car doesn't lock since the locks are removed but they are also included in this auction. Lastly, right T-top is broken. The glass is intact but will need to be replaced as shown on the pics. This was my dream car and I really wanted to finish it, however life happened and I need as much cash as I can get for my dad's surgery so toys got to go and I need to step up. This vehicle with such low mileage can fetch around 25K $ once finished. I have put around 5K in it. I am putting a reserve price on this auction as I want to make sure I get the minimum I want. That being said I am more than happy to answer any of your questions at 312-607-1746 or via eBay. Please make sure you read the description carefully and look through the photos. You are more than welcome to make an appointment with me for a test drive/viewing. I am also interested in offers you might make. This vehicle must go as time is ticking for my dad. There is no warranty on this vehicle. Sold as is with clear title. There are no liens on the title. Please contact me prior to bidding if you have less than 5 stars feedback. This is not to deter new ebayers but I also don't want to get stuck with none paying buyer. I reserve the right to cancel any bid or end this auction at any time. Thank you for your interest and good luck.

Watch the National Corvette Museum sinkhole being filled in by R/C cars
Sun, Jan 11 2015Okay, so not exactly cars, but Bobcats - but still quite cool. You might remember that the National Corvette Museum had that little divot that needed to be filled in. Turns out the construction firm of Scott, Murphy & Daniel doing the work is using two remote-controlled Bobcats to fill the sinkhole with "manufactured sand," which in this case is crushed limestone. It appears that the Bobcat company has offered remote operation since at least 2007 via a wireless transmitter that works up to 1,500 feet away. So yes, that means two SMD employees stand on the edge of the pit and flick joystick levers for hours at a time, one in charge of a Bobcat with a roller-compactor attachment, the other in charge of a Bobcat with a bucket. And that, to us, is a pretty good way to earn the daily bread. Check out the video above for the latest sinkhole update. More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1
Thu, 28 Feb 2013During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.
