1970 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible on 2040-cars
Seminole, Florida, United States
If you have any questions feel free to email: wiltonwmmacbeth@ukphotographers.com .This car was found in Sarasota, Florida owned by a young man that really did not know the cars worth. Either that,
or he knew the cars condition was very "ruff" and needed a lot of "attention". As Extreme Motorcar of Tampa, Inc.
began the complete disassembly, they found that the "attention" the car needed was a lot more than "ruff". The good
news was, that this was a true survivor car and had never been abused , raced or modified in any way. Every
original part was there. Incredible. 40 years old and never been modified.!! What a FIND !!
Needless to say, she was completely disassembled and the body removed. No expense was spared in putting her back
together to her original glory...and then some. The paint and interior were designed by car designer, RobertBruce.
The result was a corvette built so well, you will find it extremely difficult to find another car that has
perfected body lines and a fit and finish that will rival the finest cars of today. Visit Extrememotorcar com for
a complete photo documentation of her build, from start to finish. You will be amazed !
The car was originally Donnybrooke Green over tan. According to my NCRS book, 1970 was the only year for that
color. But the color was very popular. Matter of fact , the most popular color sold that year. The 1970 was
available with 454 cubic inch engines. There were three engines available for the 1970 Corvette:
350 ci 350 hp base engine (L46)
454 ci 390 (LS5)
350 ci 370 hp (LT1)
11 Exterior colors were available (Paint code in parenthesis):
Classic White (972)
Monza Red (974)
Marlboro Maroon (975)
Mulsanne Blue (976)
Bridgehamptone Blue (979)
Donnybrooke Green (982)
Daytona Yellow (984)
Cortez Silver (986)
Ontario Orange (991)
Laguna Gray (992)
Corvette Bronze (993)
The 1970 Chevrolet Corvette replaced the 4 side gills with an egg-crate vents on the side. The fenders were flared
slightly to keep rocks from being kicked up and scratching the paint. The seats were redesigned again, this time to
create more headroom. 1970 enlarged the "Big Block" (known as the Rat motor) to its largest displacement at 454 ci.
. The relatively low production in 1970 was caused by a labor dispute that started in May of 1969. This dispute
caused the 1969 production run to be stretched 4 months and the 1970 run to be cut short. Just 6648 convertible
1970 Vettes were made. This made the 1970 Convertible one of the lowest production vettes ever.
This is a highly collectible car. Fun to drive, show and and enjoy. I will assure you , she draws a crowd where
ever you take her.

Ram 1500 bests new F-150 in MT pickup shootout
Tue, Nov 25 2014Ford's 2015 Ford F-150 is a technological tour-de-force, what with its aluminum-intensive construction and its powerful and efficient new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine option. But now that it's hit the market, it's time to get down to brass tacks and find out how just the latest F-150 actually stands up to its rivals in the hyper-competitive fullsize segment. Motor Trend is among the first to round up the Ford (in Lariat 2.7-liter 4X4 guise here) and put it up against the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman EcoDiesel 4x4 and 5.3-liter-equipped Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 to find out how Dearborn's new-think truck measures up. The test put the trio through over 1,000 miles of tough driving in California and Arizona in a variety of conditions from just cruising around unladen to hauling a trailer. MT found all three trucks to be competent, but the most praise got heaped on the Ram and the Ford, with the Chevrolet falling a step behind its competitors in many tests. Among the Ford's most-liked features was its 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 that helped make the F-150 easily the quickest of the group, with some editors saying the engine felt about the same whether driving around with cargo in the bed or not. There was some minor turbo lag during acceleration while trailering, but that issue affected the Ram, too. The Ram's powertrain was lauded, as well. The EcoDiesel was torquey around town, and the 1500's combination of an eight-speed automatic and air suspension was judged to be the best of the lot. It was the most difficult to get into the bed, though. The Ram also won the fuel economy award by netting 20-miles-per-gallon city and 28-mpg highway in the test to beat its Environmental Protection Agency ratings of 19/27. The Ford's EcoBoost managed 17/22, one mpg off each from the EPA numbers, and using a lot of throttle really depleted its efficiency. As MT notes, however, it would take time for the diesel's mileage savings to pay off at the pump for these two trucks. In the end, the Ram just barely eked out the win, with the title partially earned because of "the Ford's unknown maintenance and aluminum repair costs," according to MT. Best cars for snow and ice in 2023 and 2024
Tue, Jan 23 2024What's the best car for snow? The real answer is "the one with winter tires." What do we mean by that? You could have the finest, most advanced all-wheel-drive system or four-wheel drive in the world, but if you're running all-seasons (the spork of tires), your fancy four-wheeler won't matter much. The odds are, any vehicle on the road running good winter tires will probably perform adequately in slippery, slushy and/or snowy road conditions. (Here's a more complete explanation of why winter tires are totally worth it). In other words, you don't really need any of the cars on this list. With a set of winter tires, countless others will do the job, and even these will be at their best with proper rubber. You can find a variety of winter tires for your car here at Tire Rack. Keep in mind that you will need a full set of four snow tires for safety and performance, no matter what you're driving. The days of your dad putting just two snows on the family truckster to get it moving in a straight line are long gone. Don't get us wrong, getting a car that performs well in snow and ice is still a worthy criteria for car buyers. According to the U.S. Transportation Department, 70% of Americans live in places that get snow and ice. And much of the country has been blasted with arctic air for much of the new year. So let's look at the cars. First, we're highlighting choices for a variety of buyers and price points. Second, we're not just considering snow; we're considering general wintery conditions people will experience driving to work or school. As such, these are all choices with advanced all-wheel-drive systems, usually with "torque-vectoring" systems that not only automatically shunt power front and back, but side to side between the rear axles. Most have extra ground clearance for getting through deep snow, and we prefer those vehicles with more responsive steering, throttles and transmissions that provide a greater sense of vehicle control in slippery conditions. Acura RDX Read our Acura RDX Review Acura's Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system was one of the first to offer torque-vectoring, and besides often being touted for its ability to greatly enhanced dry-road handling, its benefits in the slick stuff can be profound. It's actually surprising that Acura hasn't leaned into this capability further by offering more rugged versions of its vehicles.
Chevy's Android Auto update will reach cars in March
Fri, Sep 25 2015Buying a new Chevy with the hopes of using Android Auto during your daily commute? You'll have to sit tight for a while before that dream becomes reality. The carmaker announced that an Android Auto software update will only reach its 2016 model-year vehicles next March, starting with those that have 8-inch MyLink touchscreen systems. That's going to be a long half-year wait if you're eager to get Google Maps directions through the center stack. The good news? Chevy is promising that all vehicles with 7- and 8-inch MyLink displays (ranging from the Spark to the Corvette) will eventually have Android Auto, so you won't have to drive one of the brand's swankier machines to get a smartphone-powered infotainment deck.
