I bought this car 4 years ago. According to the previous owner it was last driven in the late 1980s when he decided to do a body off restoration and completely disassembled the car. Over the next several years the frame was sandblasted, primed, and painted. New bushings, bearings, S.S. break and fuel lines, gas tank, ball joints, breaks, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, etc.The original Muncie 4-speed transmission and rear end rebuilt (3:70 posi). A low mileage 454 C.I. block was installed as well. I started working on the car about 2 months ago by removing the frontend which had prior damage and very poorly repaired. A new Eckler's one piece frontend was installed.I pulled the heads to check the condition of the motor. There is no ridge on cylinder walls and internals are very clean. I had valves ground at that time. Motor runs very smooth. All the usual big block parts are in place as can be seen in pictures. Here are some of the casting numbers and dates: - Heads 3872702 A 14 6 and A 18 6 - Intake 3866948 A 8 6 - Water pump 3856284 L 19 5 - Alternator 100693 6 A 17 - Bell housing 3872444 - Seat belts 3 A 66 The original color code is 984 sunfire yellow with black vinyl interior. The car has no power options and comes with everything pictured which makes it pretty complete. What I do know that is missing is 1 upper outer windshield trim, power antenna, radiator shroud, most headlight parts, and probably some small items I am not aware of. Here are some pluses for the car. Dash pads are excellent. Seat covers are decent and could be used as is. Excellent cluster. Body lines look very good. Tires are almost new. All glass is there. I have owned about 15 C2 cars and all the laborous hard work is done which will make for an easy project. I will pack up the parts in the car and help with loading. It only rolls and steers. The car is being sold as is with no warranty. A $1,000 deposit is due within 2 days of auction's end and the balance within 7 more days or when the car is picked up or arrangements are made for shipping by the buyer. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me on my cell. Thanks, John cell: 269 420 0585 |

The future's electric — but the present is peak gasoline. Burn some rubber! Do donuts!
Wed, Jun 23 2021I vividly remember the year 1993 as a teenager looking forward to getting my driver’s license, longingly staring into Pontiac dealerships at every opportunity for a chance to see the brand-new fourth-generation Firebird and Trans Am. Back then, 275 horsepower, courtesy of GMÂ’s LT1 5.7-liter V8 engine, was breathtaking. A few years later, when Ram Air induction systems freed up enough fresh air to boost power over 300 ponies, I figured we were right back where my fatherÂ’s generation left off when the seminal muscle car era ended around the year 1974. It couldn't get any better than that. I was wrong. Horsepower continued climbing, prices remained within reach of the average new-car buyer looking for cheap performance, and a whole new level of muscular magnitude continued widening eyes of automotive enthusiasts all across the United States. It was all ushered in by cheap gasoline prices. And as much as petrolheads bemoan the coming wave of electric vehicles, perhaps instead now would be a good time for critics to sit back and enjoy the current and likely final wave of internal combustion. Today, itÂ’s easier than ever to park an overpowered rear-wheel-drive super coupe or sedan in your driveway. Your nearest Chevy dealership will happily sell you a Camaro with as much as 650 horsepower. Not enough? Take a gander at the Ford showroom and youÂ’ll find a herd of Mustangs up to 760 ponies. Or if nothing but the most powerful will do, waltz on over to the truly combustion-obsessed sales team of a Dodge dealer and relish in the glory of a 797-hp Charger or 807-hp Challenger. Want some more luxury to go with your overgrown stable of horses? Try Cadillac, where you'll find a 668-horsepower CT5-V Blackwing. You could instead choose to wrap that huffin' and chuggin' V8 in an SUV. Or go really off the rails and buy a Ram TRX or Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 and hit the dunes after a quick stop at the drag strip. Go pump some gas. Burn a little rubber. Do donuts! There is nothing but your pocketbook keeping you from buying the V8-powered car of your dreams. Yes, just about every major automaker in the world has halted development of future internal combustion engines in favor of gaining expertise in batteries and electric motors. No, that doesnÂ’t mean that gasoline is going extinct. There are going to be gas stations dotting American cities and highways for the rest of our lifetimes.

7 major automakers to build open EV charging network
Wed, Jul 26 2023A new joint venture established by BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis will build a new North American electric vehicle charging network on a scale designed to compete with Tesla's industry-benchmark Supercharger network. The 30,000-plus planned new chargers will accommodate both Tesla's almost-standard North American Charging System (NACS) and existing automakers' Combined Charging System (CCS) options, effectively guaranteeing compatibility with the vast majority of current and upcoming electric models — whether they're from one of the involved automakers or not. "With the generational investments in public charging being implemented on the Federal and State level, the joint venture will leverage public and private funds to accelerate the installation of high-powered charging for customers. The new charging stations will be accessible to all battery-powered electric vehicles from any automaker using Combined Charging System (CCS) or North American Charging Standard (NACS) and are expected to meet or exceed the spirit and requirements of the U.S. National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program." Critically, the automakers involved will have a say in how the charging tech is implemented, guaranteeing that the hardware will play nicely with each automaker's in-house charging systems. Hyundai and Kia, for example, were hesitant to jump on board the Tesla NACS bandwagon earlier this year over concerns that the Supercharger network is insufficient for powering the two automakers' 800-volt charging systems; similar tech is used by Volkswagen and Porsche. In addition to providing much-needed capacity and high-output charging for America's growing fleet of electric cars and trucks, the new network will integrate seamlessly with each automaker's in-app and in-vehicle features, rather than forcing customers to use third-party tools and payment systems, as is the case with some existing public charging infrastructure. "The functions and services of the network will allow for seamless integration with participating automakersÂ’ in-vehicle and in-app experiences, including reservations, intelligent route planning and navigation, payment applications, transparent energy management and more. In addition, the network will leverage Plug & Charge technology to further enhance the customer experience," the announcement said.
