I bought this car back in July,2009 and then began upgrading, repairing and replacing everything in the car other than the engine,as that had already been done before i bought the car. This car has been completely rebuilt. It needs nothing. The project was completed in Jan.,2014 with $92,250.00 having been spent. There has only been approximately 300 miles put on the car since it was completed. Put gas in the tank and drive it anywhere. This car is equipped with a factory original numbers matching 327 cu. in. / 300 h.p. engine that had been completely rebuilt shortly before i bought the car. Whoever rebuilt this engine knew exactly what they were doing,as this is a very strong engine. I replaced the 2-Speed Power Glide Transmission with the better 3-Speed Turbo Hydra Matic Auto. Trans. for much better drive ability and performance. At this time i had all (6) universal joints replaced,as well as all (4) shock absorbers replaced. I had the entire Air Conditioning system converted over to the newer R-134-A system from the old R-12 system. New "Sanden" A/C compressor, new condenser core with electric fan pushing air through the front of the condenser core. A cutoff valve installed that stops the follow of coolant running through the heater core for much better A/C cooling. Completely replaced the entire power steering system with all new components. Completely rebuilt the entire instrument cluster with new speedometer cable, new tachometer drive gear, new clock and installed all new "L.E.D." lights for much better visibility at night. New power window buttons. Completely rebuilt the entire cooling system starting with a nice big heavy duty "De Witt" aluminum radiator,a high performance water pump,a 6-blade direct drive fan replacing the original 5-blade clutch fan. You will NOT have any of the old cooling problems that Corvettes were so well known for. I also had the water jackets inside the engine block drained, cleaned and flushed before installing all of these nice new parts. I also installed nice new metallic hoses. The entire electrical system has been rebuilt with a new alternator, voltage regulator, battery and a new compact starter. All new fuel system including a Holley 4 bbl. carburetor with manual choke,Holley Fuel Pump and all new metallic fuel lines. All new "H.E.I." electronic ignition system complete with custom made "Taylor" ignition wires. All new power brake system complete with high performance stainless steel brake rotors for much cooler braking operation,a new power brake booster and master cylinder. Car has "Positraction" rear end with a rear end gear ratio of 3.08:1 replacing the 3.36:1 rear end gear ratio that came with the car. I found this to be much better for the air conditioning compressor to do a much better job of cooling at highway speeds. Replaced all old tail lights with the new "L.E.D." light bulbs. Making it much easier to be seen at night. Repaired headliner, installed new insulation and new carpet. Had windows tinted. Replaced a leaky exhaust manifold on the drivers side with a good factory original part.
Some of the factory options on this car include "Side Mounted Exhaust Pipes",Delco AM / FM push button radio with power antenna,"Day / Night" inside rearview mirror and i had installed a right hand side outside rearview mirror. This car also comes with "After Market" knock off wheels. These wheels ARE NOT factory original "Kelsey-Hayes" knock off wheels, but I think they look very nice. Also included with the car are a 1966 Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual,1964 & 1966 Corvette Owners Manual. Every part receipt and all of the documentation that I have. The spare tire is new and has never been on the ground. The 4-tires that are on the ground are relatively new,as they only have approximately 9,000 miles on them. These tires are B.F. Goodrich Premier Touring White Walls (215 70-R-15) and the spare is a B.F.Goodrich Touring Black Wall (205 70-R 15). Odometer reading at the time of this listing is 71,475. Car is being sold "AS IS". Thanks for looking. P.S. This is my "SHOW CAR" and has won 12 Plaques and Trophies. The plaques and trophies will go with the car. P.P.S. I'm sure it goes without saying, but "THIS CAR NEVER GETS DRIVEN IN THE RAIN"!!!!!!! It is garage kept in a climate controled garage, air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. Anyone having any serious questions concerning my pride and joy please don't hesitate to ask and I will try to get back with you "A.S.A.P."! |

Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states
Fri, 26 Sep 2014The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.
2016 Chevy Volt powertrain technical details
Wed, Feb 11 2015The last time General Motors launched a Chevy Volt, it was operating without really knowing how people would use the plug-in hybrid. Sure, it had experience with the EV1, but the Volt was a new kind of car, and you can see in the archives just how much time GM spent explaining this fresh, new powertrain to potential customers. Then, once the vehicle was released, the company collected voluntary data from a large number of owners to learn about their driving and charging habits. The company also asked them what they wanted most in the new version. There's got to be an algorithm buried somewhere in GM headquarters that was used to take all of the numbers GM collected and spat out the headline figures for the 2016 Volt: 50 miles of EV range and 41 miles per gallon. Another important number – price – is something GM isn't talking about yet (expect it in April or May), but the company is sharing some powertrain details about the upcoming car. At a preview lunch in Detroit last week for the SAE 2015 Hybrid & Electric Vehicles Technologies Symposium that's happening now in California, GM engineers Peter Savagian (who is presenting a paper on the new inverter used in the updated Volt) and Tim Grewe (talking about the entire second-generation powertrain) sat down with AutoblogGreen to tell us about the Volt's all-new propulsion system: The overall gist is that the new Voltec 5ET50 drive unit is lighter, smaller and more powerful thanks to a redesigned two-motor traction drive. As previously reported, the new engine is a 1.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder that offers 101-horsepower (at 5,600 RPM). Grewe said it's "great for range extension." The electric motor side of the powertrain offers 149 motoring horsepower from a two-motor, continuously variable transaxle. Initially, the new engine will be made in Mexico. GM will move production to Flint, MI during the first year it makes the 2016 Volt. The battery is slightly bigger in the new Volt – 18.4 kWh compared to 16.5 in the current-gen – and will have less range variation in the cold. GM is also using more of the overall capacity in the pack in the 2016 Volt than in previous versions, but is not saying how much more. GM is not ready to publish acceleration times just yet, but the 2016 Volt has improved numbers, especially when going from 30-60 miles per hour. Most everything on the new powertrain has become more efficient compared to the first-gen Volt.
Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Toyota Tundra flunk IIHS headlight test
Tue, Oct 25 2016The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety put pickup truck headlights to the test and found that the majority of them were equipped with subpar units. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline was the only truck to earn a rating of "good." The large pickup truck test was comprised of the: 2016 to 2017 GMC Sierra, 2017 Nissan Titan, 2016 Ram 1500, 2016 to 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, 2016 to 2017 Ford F-150, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tundra. The Sierra's headlights earned a rating of "acceptable," the headlights found on the Titan and Ram 1500 were found to be "marginal," and the ones on the Silverado, F-150, and Tundra were rated as "poor." IIHS claims the F-150 was the most disappointing out of the large pickup trucks as both its halogen and optional LED headlights failed to provide adequate visibility during testing. The Ridgeline (which earned a "good rating"), is usually considered a midsize or small truck, though IIHS included it in the field of large pickups. The headlights on the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, 2016 GMC Canyon, 2016 Nissan Frontier, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tacoma, which made up the small pickup truck group, all earned a rating of "poor." The IIHS claimed the Colorado had the worst headlights of any truck that was tested, as the base vehicle's units were only able to illuminate up to 123 feet in front of the car. The Ridgeline's headlights, for reference, were able to illuminate up to 358 feet in front of the vehicle. To conduct its test, the IIHS utilizes a special tool to measure how far light is projected out of the headlights in different driving situations. The trucks' headlights were tested in a straight line and in corners, while vehicles with high-beam assist were given extra praise. The headlights on the pickup trucks also mimic the testing that was done on small SUVs and cars earlier this year. Next year, automakers will need to fit their vehicles with headlights that earn a rating of either good or acceptable to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Related Video:
