You are bidding on a 1962 Corvette, black exterior with red interior. These are the original colors. This is a hard top only car and has never had a soft top. The deck lid that receives the soft top has never been cut or modified. The car came out of GM as an original fuel injected 62. See photos of the original nut plate that was riveted to the inner skirt. Also the different location of the tachometer drive cable hole in the firewall.
This car has had a body-off cosmetic restoration. The owner had no intentions to go to Bloomington or NCRS. The frame has been blasted and painted, components rebuilt. The body has been stripped, repaired where needed, and repainted. It has new chrome, new weatherstrips, new interior, new wiring harnesses. It has been fitted with a 1985 Corvette TPI motor with a stand alone harness. An M21
transmission from a 76 Vette has been installed.
The car has not been physically modified in any way to install these components. Still has its original generator charging system, original expansion tank, original aluminum radiator.
The coolest thing about this car is that it can always be restored back to an original FI Corvette. I am listing this for a friend - I will answer all your questions that I can. The owners name is Mike - 269-506-1387. The car is located in Mendon Michigan and can be seen any time during the auction. Mike also has available 4 original hub caps, original radio for restoration, original deck lid cut out for the soft top latches, and a T10 transmission. He also knows where a complete 62 Vette FI unit is located.
This car is pick up only or you can arrange for shipping. We will be glad to help you.
Please do not bid on this car if you have no intentions of following through. This deprives other people from having something they really want.
Selling to the US only. Car must be paid for within 7 days of auction's end. A Paypal deposit of $500.00 is required at auction's end.
Own an iconic piece of history!
Thanks and happy bidding - John

How GM engineers are using diaper 'snow' to keep you warm
Thu, Jan 8 2015Testing how snow affects General Motors' vehicles isn't really a problem right now for the company's engineers, but in the dog days of summer the process isn't exactly easy. The only real option is for them to book time at the automaker's climatic wind tunnel. However, a flash of brilliance from an engineer allows snow to be simulated regardless of the temperature outside, and the discovery is all because of his daughter's wet diaper. The realization came to GM Thermal Systems engineer Nicholas Jahn while he was swimming with his daughter and noticed how her diaper ballooned in size in the water. He found out the substance that makes this possible is called sodium polyacrylate. When the material gets wet it grows and forms fluffy flakes that are a close imitation of snow. Best of all, the stuff can be prepared easily any time of the year, and it's reusable. The engineering team uses the material to test the effectiveness of the heating systems of GM's vehicles. They spread the sodium polyacrylate over the inlets at the base of the windshield to obstruct the airflow and then crank the heater. After some time, they can see how much is being sucked into the system and design more efficient systems in the future. See how the process works in the video above and read about the diaper discovery in GM's press release below. Diapers Change Chevy Cruze Winter Warm-up Time GM validation engineer uses diaper material "snow" to reduce frigid drives 2015-01-06 DETROIT – An item commonly found on an infant's changing table is helping General Motors' engineers simulate snow year round, ensuring heating systems in cars like the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze can quickly and efficiently warm its interior. Packed snow can prevent air from entering the inlet panel at the bottom of the windshield, obstructing the flow of air into the heating system and reducing the amount of air it can push out. This can lead to less efficient warming of the car's interior and windshield defrosting. "The last thing anyone wants to do when it's freezing cold out is scrape their windshield," said Nicholas Jahn, GM Vehicle Thermal Systems engineer. "The testing we perform on the Chevrolet Cruze with the diaper material allows us to maximize the car's heating capabilities." Ironically, Jahn stumbled upon his diaper-based testing method in the middle of summer. During a swim with his daughter, he noticed her diaper multiplied in size when it came into contact with water.
Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1
Wed, Aug 20 2014Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party. Chevy: The Big Game
Mon, Feb 2 2015Chevrolet took an early lead for the 2015 Super Bowl advertising crown with its spot for the all-new, 4G LTE-capable Colorado pickup in a spot that simulated a problem with your TV. The stark, simple ad then states that if you're lucky enough to have an Internet-capable vehicle, like the new Colorado, you'd at least be able to stream the game. A clever, chuckle-inducing spot if there was one. Check out our full write up of the new, 2015 Colorado. Marketing/Advertising Chevrolet Truck Super Bowl Commercials Videos 2015 super bowl ad
