Chevelle SS 454

1970 Chevelle SS 454 / 4 Speed with 373 gears in the 12 bold rear end. The entire running gear was new about 5,000 miles ago and it’s only been driven by older guys like me (LOL) so it has not been abused. This is an original SS car and it is a very solid rust free car. No floor panels or any of the sheet medal needed to be replaced and they are in excellent condition!! A little history… It has lived in Oregon all its life. I have had it since I had my restoration shop, NW Chevelle Restorations in 1989, I purchased it when I was 40 and finished the restoration about 5 years ago. I know a long time to restore it but your own car always comes last (LOL) and I was raising 4 daughters during most of that time. It was NOT in bad shape at all before being restored, never wrecked or anything like that. This really is an excellent car that has been sitting in the shop for too long and it needs a new owner who will love and enjoy it. It is very drivable, the engine, transmission, clutch and rearend all have about 5,000 miles on them so they have a ton of miles left in them. I would drive it anywhere! Very dependable!! It has like new tires and brakes, mechanically it really doesn’t need anything (maybe a tune up). The engine is an early 70’s 454 so it is NOT a numbers matching car but it is a correct SS. The tranny is a Muncie 4 speed close ratio M-21 (no it’s not an M-22). It has the factory tach (redlines at 5500) & gauge package and the F-42 suspension which all true SS cars had in 1970. The interior is in excellent condition and just needs a little detailing to be perfect. I am sure the buyer will find some little tinkering that needs to be done but nothing serious… clean the engine and maybe some touch up under the hood to make it prettier, stuff like that is all it needs. Some of the pictures make it look worse than they should because it’s been sitting in the shop for months and so as you can see it’s got some dust on it, sorry I didn’t have time to clean it better. I will help the buyer make arrangements for shipping or depending on where you live I might even deliver it.  This car is going to be a VERY GOOD buy some lucky person and you will get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

"Turbo" Chevrolet Camaro is a 700-HP fantasy car come to life [w/video]

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

For a concept car built to promote an animated movie about a snail that wants to go racing, this thing ain't half bad. The outsized monster you see before you started life as a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and then went through a big-time Hollywood makeover before being positioned on the Chevrolet stand here in Chicago.
This 2013 "Turbo" Camaro Coupe is getting the promotion machine ratcheted up for a new DreamWorks tale by the name of, you guessed it, Turbo. Coming this summer, the movie will follow one snail's quest to become a race driver worthy of making the cut at the Indy 500. Like many DreamWorks vehicles before it, we're guessing that the petrolhead snail will star in a movie that adults (especially racing fans) with have no trouble watching with their kids. Check out the trailer below to see if you agree.
As for the car, we're told that it is "instrumental" in transforming Turbo from snail into racer. Helping the beastly pony car in this mighty task, is an ankle-cracking front splitter matched by a ungodly huge rear wing out back, a COPO hood and a supercharged (yes, supercharged) V8 engine making more than 700 horsepower. 24-inch wheels all the way around - 10-inches wide in front and 15-inches wide in back - should allow the "Turbo" Camaro to hook up with ease, as well.

GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.
