For your consideration, a 1971 Chevelle SS454 Semi Resto Mod

The car underwent a complete frame off restoration.  Thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours went into this 3+ year restoration.  It is a Goodguy’s show winner and has been awarded “Best in Show” and “Top 20” in numerous local car shows. Everything works as it should, to include the A/C.  Every nut and bolt, wiring, switches, bulbs, hoses, etc. are new.  The motor is a 454 that was built for drivability as well as performance.  It has a complete roller valve train with a mild roller cam that produces plenty of vacuum for brakes and A/C.

There really is too much to list but a complete photo documentation album and receipt file for the restoration is included with the sale.  Many of the components on the car have been powder coated to include the rear end and all springs.

I will attempt to list many of the new parts that are on the car:

  • o   Stainless Steel Brake Lines
  • o   Stainless Steel Fuel Line
  • o   New Gas Tank and Sending Unit
  • o   All new wiring throughout entire car to include dash harness, front light, engine, and rear light harnesses
  • o   Rebuilt tilt steering column
  • o   New Eaton Posi unit
  • o   New Richmond 3.55 gear set
  • o   New rear drum brakes to include new drums
  • o   New front disc brakes
  • o   New master cylinder and booster
  • o   New windshield wiper motor and washer pump
  • o   New heater core
  • o   Drive shaft rebuilt and balanced
  • o   All new switches and lock sets
  • o   All new body bushings
  • o   All new Poly Graphite suspension bushings, front and rear
  • o   All new front end components to include 1 1/8 inch front sway bar
  • o   Stereo is a high-end Pioneer with remote 12 disk changer and 800 watts going to 8 speakers to include 2 Pioneer 10 inch subs

I do not want to admit this but the car is a trailer queen.  I’ve only put 370 miles on the vehicle since completion.  It has never seen rain or a wet road, for that fact.  It has never been washed and sits in a climate controlled garage with a $400 California car cover.  Now for the shocker, the restoration was completed in 2005.  Crazy, right???!!!  It gets started and driven down the driveway and around the corner once a month.  Take a look at the pictures and ask any questions you may have.  You can also call me at 904-993-3626 for more information.  The car is available for inspection in Jacksonville, Florida.  I will assist your shipper in any way I can but shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.

GOOD LUCK!!

GM plans new car family for global markets, $5B investment

Tue, Jul 28 2015

Globalization remains all the rage in the auto industry, as manufacturers scramble to develop single vehicles that can easily be adapted to the world's disparate market places. Ford has been a champion of this movement, with its One Ford mandate, but now, its cross-town rival is getting in on the action, albeit on a smaller scale. General Motors has announced a $5-billion investment to develop a new Chevrolet-badged family vehicle for global growth markets, including Brazil, Mexico, India, and importantly, China. With the PRC listed as a target market for the new vehicle, it's no surprise that GM is teaming with its Chinese joint-venture partner, SAIC Motor, to develop the vehicle's architecture and engines. The first vehicles should be hitting dealers by 2019, with GM expecting to eventually move some two million units per year. "With a significant majority of anticipated automotive industry growth in 2015 to 2030 outside of mature markets, Chevrolet is taking steps to capitalize on that growth," GM President Dan Ammann said in the attached statement. "Strengthening Chevrolet's position through this major investment is consistent with our global strategy to ensure long-term profitable growth in the markets where we operate." GM is quite focused on developing markets for a new vehicle, going as far as to say that "mature markets" like the US aren't currently being considered for the new family vehicle. As for where it will be built, the press release specifically says it won't be exported to the US, meaning it will very likely be built abroad using parts from local suppliers. Read on for the official press release from General Motors. Chevrolet Strengthens Position in Growth Markets with $5 Billion Investment 2015-07-28 All-new vehicle family tailored to local customer requirements General Motors and SAIC Motor partnership further enhanced DETROIT – Chevrolet announced today it is investing $5 billion to strengthen its business in global growth markets through the development of an all-new vehicle family that will meet the rapidly changing demands of customers in these markets. "With a significant majority of anticipated automotive industry growth in 2015 to 2030 outside of mature markets, Chevrolet is taking steps to capitalize on that growth," said General Motors President Dan Ammann.

GM’s move to Woodward is the right one — for the company and for Detroit

Wed, May 1 2024

Back in 2018, Chevy invited me to attend the Detroit Auto Show on the company dime to get an early preview of the then-newly redesigned Silverado. The trip involved a stay at the Renaissance Center — just a quick People Mover ride from the show. IÂ’d been visiting Detroit in January for nearly a decade, and not once had I set foot inside General MotorsÂ’ glass-sided headquarters. I was intrigued, to say the least. Thinking back on my time in the buildings that GM will leave behind when it departs for the new Hudson's site on Woodward Avenue, two things struck me. For one, its hotel rooms are cold in January. Sure, itÂ’s glass towers designed in the 1960s and '70s; I calibrated my expectations accordingly. But when I could only barely see out of the place for all the ice forming on the inside of the glass, it drove home just how flawed this iconic structure is.  My second and more pertinent observation was that the RenCen doesnÂ’t really feel like itÂ’s in a city at all, much less one as populous as Detroit. The complex is effectively severed from its surroundings by swirling ribbons of both river and asphalt. To the west sits the Windsor tunnel entrance; to the east, parking lots for nearly as far as the eye can see. To its north is the massive Jefferson Avenue and to its south, the Detroit River. You get the sense that if Henry Ford II and his team of investors had gotten their way, the whole thing would have been built offshore with the swirling channel doubling as a moat. This isnÂ’t a building the draws the city in; itÂ’s one designed to keep it out. Frost on the inside of the RenCen hotel glass. Contrasted with the new Hudson's project GM intends to move into, a mixed-use anchor with residential, office, retail and entertainment offerings smack-dab in Detroit's most vibrant district, the RenCen is a symbol of an era when each office in DetroitÂ’s downtown was an island in a rising sea of dilapidation. Back then, those who fortified against the rapid erosion of DetroitÂ’s urban bedrock stood the best chance of surviving. This was the era that brought us ugly skyways and eventually the People Mover — anything to help suburban commuters keep their metaphorical feet dry. The RenCen offered — and still offers — virtually any necessity and plenty of nice-to-haves, all accessible without ever venturing outside, especially in the winter, but those enticements are geared to those who trek in from suburbia to toil in its hallways.

First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.
