1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Ss 396 on 2040-cars
Lincoln, Nebraska, United States
This 1970 Big Block 396 Super Sport Chevelle only has 36,000 ACTUAL miles on it. It had previously spent its last 23 years in storage and only driven around 1,500 miles. It spent the last 9 years sitting in a shed and not being moved or started. As a result it has survived tremendously despite spending its entire life in the Northern Midwest. The undercarriage of this Muscle Car still has the Original General Motors Undercoating it received just before it left the factory (see pictures below, click here for the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoJ_fKQHnOg). This is nearly unheard of on a vehicle that is 43 years old and unrestored.
It is an unrestored 1970 Chevelle Super Sport Big Block 396 with 36,000 miles on it....where are you going to find that? This is a true Big Block Super Sport and although there is no way to decode them it has all of the tell tail signs. The rear trailing arms that attach to the 12 bolt are blocked off and strengthened, only found on a SS. The rearend is a 12 bolt, standard on the SS. The dash has the Rally Gauges, only found on a SS. The door panel trim does not go straight across but has the hump design, only found on a SS. It has a functioning Cowl Induction hood. Don't be fooled by all of the Cloned SS's out in the market today. There are signs if you know what to look for. An original 10 10 771 car (White Exterior with Saddle Interior) which is rare along with the additional Tilt Steering that was nearly unheard of in 1970. It was also built with the LS package containing both front and rear sway bars. Unlike most surviving SS's it still has its original 12 bolt rear end and Turbo 400 transmission. Center console with Horse Shoe shifter and AM Radio. This car has the In-Dash Tach and Clock. The Functional Cowl Induction hood that only came in 1970 is not only there but works perfectly.
Bringing this car back to life took very little. The Head Liner needed replaced and the center console was completely trashed. A head liner was installed and the center console was torn down and re-done. The entire car was buffed and cleaned up. The Heater Core was replaced along with all the hoses. The vehicles starter was replaced along with new plugs, wires, points, condensor and rotor. The 4 Barrel carburetor was completely reworked and a new carb kit and float kit were installed. The exhaust gaskets were replaced. New Headlights were installed along with new Hood Pins. The entire vehicle was completely cleaned up from the inside out. All of the interior was torn out of it including seats, headliner, carpet and dash were pulled and cleaned. The rally SS wheels were replaced by a set of new Boss rims, 20 X 10's on the rear and 18 X 8's on the front. Running on 245/40/18's and 275/40/20's these rims and tires give it the perfect look. Still using all of its original suspension without any alterations these wheels and tires fit perfect and allow it to be put back completely to original without any effects. I am selling the vehicle with the BOSS rims however the original Super Sport Rims and tires are availible for this car for an additional $800. I drove this car 175+ miles to the Lambrecht Chevrolet Company Auction in Pierce NE on September 28, 2013 and drove it home. With this auction I am including my bidders badge and number from the Lambrecht Auction as well as an official bill of sale from VanDerBrink Auctions on the Lambrecht Chevrolet Company Auction "A time capsule of automotive History". I was there at the Lambrecht Auction and watched their 1969 SS 396 Chevelle sell (http://blogs.hotrod.com/read-all-about-the-lambrecht-chevrolet-auction-at-hot-rod-83315.html/lambrecht-vanderbrink-chevrolet-1969-chevelle-ss396/#axzz2ilmp0Tv4). Their car had 74,000 miles on it, had a tree fall on it and blow out the windows then it sat outside for nearly 5 years, had rust all over the quarters and the trunk was gone, the motor was stuck and the roof was caved in. I watched this car that was almost beyond repair bring $27,000 (http://www.ktiv.com/story/23539928/2013/09/26/lambrecht-auto-auction-in-pierce-nebraska-is-set-to-begin). The car you are looking at runs and drives with only 36,000 actual miles on it. Compare that to their 69 with 74,000 and you need a fork lift to move it. My wife drove this car and put 300 miles on it during a poker run. There simply is no comparison between the two vehicles. Mine is in WAY better condition, is driveable, and can be enjoyed right now. The 1970 Chevelle Super Sport Big Block is one of the most desired Classic Cars ever built. Check out the valuation tool at Hagerty Insurance http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/HVT/VehicleSearch/Report?vc=1379529 it shows the lowest value for a SS 396 #4 car at $32,000. A #3 car is $40,000 and a #1 is $67,800. This is not a #1 and is also not a #4 car either. This is a great value!

Fri, Apr 21 2023In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Associate Editor Byron Hurd for a recap of the past week's worldwide debuts along with some updates from their recent adventures. They start off discussing the rumors of a new Ford Mustang Raptor and what that means in the context of previous rumors of a Corvette SUV. Then it's time to talk Shanghai, where Polestar, Buick, Volkswagen, Porsche and Lincoln all had big reveals. After that, they segue to Byron's trip to Moab for the 2023 Easter Jeep Safari preview where he drove the AEV Level II Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition. From there, they reminisce about Mustangs in a nod to the nameplate's 59th anniversary, after which they stick to the theme with a sub-$15,000 RWD used-car discussion. Is there anything worth buying in this price bracket in today's economy? Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon get trim levels reworked again
Sun, Mar 22 2020GM Authority reports that GM has fiddled with trim packages on the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon for the 2021 model year, eliminating the base trims on both pickups and implementing small price changes. When the new model year goes on sale, the Chevy will lose the rear-wheel drive Base Extended Cab with the automatic transmission that starts at $22,395 after a $1,095 destination charge. The new entry-level is going to be the Work Truck model with the extended cab in rear-wheel drive, starting at $26,595 assuming the destination charge holds steady. That represents a $4,200 jump over the base 2020 model. MSRPs for the entire Work Truck lineup, from base to the Crew Cab Long Box, rise by $400. Elsewhere in the Colorado line, the four Z71 trims go down by $100, while the two ZR2 trims increase by the same amount. Only the six LT trims don't see any change. The GMC side is a bit more involved due to previously announced changes. The 2020 Canyon comes in SL, Base Canyon, SLE, SLT, All Terrain, and Denali steps. Last month, GM Authority reported the 2021 Canyon would give all that up for the new names Elevation Standard, Elevation, AT4, and Denali. Since the SL base model retires in 2021, the Elevation Standard takes over at the entry level. Unlike on the Colorado, which sheds one trim, the Canyon lineup gets pared from 20 total combinations of trims, cab sizes, and bed lengths, to 14 total combinations. But like the Colorado, due to the loss of the cheapest configuration, the least expensive 2021 Canyon becomes $4,200 more expensive than in 2020, assuming the destination price remains the same. What's more, the 2021 Elevation Standard pricing adds $700 or $800 to the prices of the 2020 Canyon base and SLE models. There are more increases up the range. The 2021 Elevation trim replaces a combination of SLE and SLT models, bumping prices up by up to $900. In 2020, the least expensive All Terrain model is the Extended Cab Cloth for $37,695. For next year, the least expensive AT4 trim is the Crew Cab Short Box for $39,295. Like-for-like, though, the AT4 represents a $300 premium over the 2020 All Terrain Crew Cab Short Box. Three Denali trims will still stand at the top of the heap, each one going up by $400 in 2021. Until GM details the equipment changes, we won't know how the new pricing equates to value.
Chevy admits there's confusion over Bolt and Volt names
Fri, Feb 20 2015Offering the possibility of 200 miles of driving range and the potential for a price of about $30,000, the Chevrolet Bolt is an incredibly enticing vehicle, and it has an opportunity to be a big player in the EV world. However, the hatchback has been plagued by one problem since the moment it debuted – the name. Bolt sounds very similar to Volt, Chevy's extended-range plug-in, and they can be easy to confuse in a conversation. That's not the best quality to have when trying to get a new vehicle's name out there among customers, and General Motors North America president Alan Batey told the Detroit Free Press that the company is aware of the problem. While the EV is definitely going into production, the model might be wearing a different moniker when it hits showrooms. "We're still in the decision phase. It could go either way," Batey said to the Free Press. He indicated the automaker still has about a year before a final decision is necessary. The Bolt will be built at GM's Orion Assembly plant in Michigan and will likely go on sale around 2017. That will put the Chevy on the market at roughly the same time as the 200-mile Tesla Model 3. Batey didn't seem too concerned, though. "Unlike Tesla, we can spread the cost over a whole lineup," he said to the Free Press. The future doesn't look quite so bright for the Spark EV, though. Batey suggested that it might not last once the longer-range Bolt fills that niche in the lineup. Related Video:
