1969 - Chevrolet Chevelle on 2040-cars
Sherborn, Massachusetts, United States
THIS CHEVELLE has NOT BEEN TAGGED or driven very much SINCE 2006 (ma inspection still on windshield). WE CLEANED OFF years of DUST & SPIDER WEBS, PUMPED TIRES UP, PUT GOOD GAS IN THE TANK, NEW BATTERY, GOT SOME OIL PRESSURE and SHE FIRED RIGHT UP!! THE ENGINE in the CHEVELLE is a MATCHING NUMBERS 396/325 hp (see attached photo) TO THIS CAR. The car runs good. Sounds like there could be a sticky lifter. Some repairs to be expected after sitting for 6 -8 years. THE 12-BOLT REAR END LOOKS TO MATCH THIS CHEVELLE and that is what I was told. THE TURBO 400 TRANSMISSION IS ORIGINAL to the CAR, as the pic of tag shows. ACCORDING to the LAST OWNER THIS CHEVELLE was PAINTED in the late1990s(in original color code 57 fathom green) and a few things replaced ,like interior carpet, seat covers, door panels etc. NO BODY PANELS REPLACED,ORIGINAL FLOOR PANS, QUARTER PANELS, DOORS ETC,(ALL ORIGINAL), and NO RUST!! THE PAINT WILL BUFF OUT SLICK, with ONLY a FEW SMALL NICKS in the PAINT ( small). BODY STILL ORIGINAL and PRETTY STRAIGHT! All BODY LINES and GAPS are GOOD for an ORIGINAL CAR. ORIGINAL TINTED GLASS(looks great),ORIGINAL BUMPERS are showing their age(but have new ones still in the wrapper) ORIGINAL BEZELS AROUND TAILIGHTS ETC are SHOWING LITTLE PITS and CORROSION, but LOOK GOOD for 45 years OLD.. THIS CHEVELLE has FACTORY RALLY WHEELS,FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING(not working), FACTORY POWER DISC BRAKES,POWER STEERING,TINTED GLASS,FACTORY DASH CLOCK,..

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
"Turbo" Chevrolet Camaro is a 700-HP fantasy car come to life [w/video]
Thu, 07 Feb 2013For a concept car built to promote an animated movie about a snail that wants to go racing, this thing ain't half bad. The outsized monster you see before you started life as a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and then went through a big-time Hollywood makeover before being positioned on the Chevrolet stand here in Chicago.
This 2013 "Turbo" Camaro Coupe is getting the promotion machine ratcheted up for a new DreamWorks tale by the name of, you guessed it, Turbo. Coming this summer, the movie will follow one snail's quest to become a race driver worthy of making the cut at the Indy 500. Like many DreamWorks vehicles before it, we're guessing that the petrolhead snail will star in a movie that adults (especially racing fans) with have no trouble watching with their kids. Check out the trailer below to see if you agree.
As for the car, we're told that it is "instrumental" in transforming Turbo from snail into racer. Helping the beastly pony car in this mighty task, is an ankle-cracking front splitter matched by a ungodly huge rear wing out back, a COPO hood and a supercharged (yes, supercharged) V8 engine making more than 700 horsepower. 24-inch wheels all the way around - 10-inches wide in front and 15-inches wide in back - should allow the "Turbo" Camaro to hook up with ease, as well.
2013 Chevy COPO Camaro announced with two new engines and manual option
Thu, 07 Mar 2013Chevrolet is following up the 2012 COPO Camaro with another limited run of the drag-strip-ready production car for 2013. Ditching the superchargers, the 2013 COPO Camaro can only be equipped with one of three naturally aspirated V8 engines, and other new features include the option of a manual transmission, new front springs, some minor styling changes and a lower starting price of $86,000. All cars are designed to abide by the rules of the NHRA's Stock Eliminator or Super Stock classifications, depending on in which series buyers wish to enter their Chevrolet Camaro.
Returning for 2013 is the 427-cubic-inch V8 producing 425 horsepower, but the new engines include a 325-hp 350-CID V8 and a 375-hp 396-CID V8. Buyers can select to purchase all three engines, and each will be matched with the sequence number of that car; the track-only COPO cars will not have vehicle identification numbers and can't be registered for street use.
Chevrolet is also offering unique enthusiast-specific options such as a COPO Build Book and the opportunity for owners to help assemble their car's engine at the Chevrolet Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI.
