1968 Chevrolet Chevelle
Rust Free
No Reserve!
92,394 Miles believed to be actual
This beautiful car was just purchased from a guy that had started the project and was not able to finish it, but he did all the hard work, and did it right. There is no rust that I can see. The underside of the car is really clean and detailed pretty nice. The panels have all been replaced or repaired and a magnet will stick anywhere.
The lines are all straight, the doors, hood and trunk all shut perfectly, and the beautiful new Raven Black paint with white SS stripes shines with near perfect reflection. The chrome bumpers are not perfect but the chrome trim is in very good condition.
Although the car shows only 92,000 miles and the owner tells me they are original, I have no way of proving it, so the mileage is being stated as exempt.
The BFGoodrich Radial TA 265/50R15 tires are 80% tread and have some age to them although I feel they are safe to run. The front 215/65R15 matching TA's are brand new. They are mounted on Crager SS wheels and the wheels are in great shape other than one has hit a curb at one time or another, but the car drives fantastic down the road. I just had the alignment done and everything was nice and tight.
The engine runs great, has lots of power and a new 4bbl carburator. There is a slight cam in it but not too radical, and the headers and dual exhaust do not have any leaks and sound mean. The tranny was not shifting correctly, so I just put a new tranny in it and the paperwork comes with the car for the Certified nationwide warranty.
The car is an original AC car but needs new components.
The Black interior looks new, including the carpet, door panels, headliner and front and rear seats. The dash has no cracks.
The glass is all good, and the windows roll up and down as they should.
I am trying to be as specific as I can be so that there are no surprises when you get the car. It is in very good condition, and the car will make you a very nice collectible car that you can drive anywhere and be proud of.
We are selling the car at NO RESERVE, so there will be a new owner at the end of the auction.
We are located 60 miles southwest of Omaha Nebraska, or 20 miles south of Lincoln. Feel free to stop and take a look before you bid. I would tell you to fly here and drive it home, but with the age of the car, you will be safer to come pick it up, or have it shipped. We have shipped cars all over the world and get some great shipping rates. Let us know if we can give you a shipping estimate.
We require a $500 paypal or credit card deposit within 24 hours of the end of the auction, and payment in full within 3 days by cashiers check or bank wire.
The car is a real time piece, but since it is 45 years old, it is being sold "as is" with no written, or expressed warranty. We have over 8,500 positive feedbacks so you can be certain that we are describing it to our best ability.
Good Luck bidding!

GM finds steering flaw, decides it doesn't warrant a recall
Tue, Apr 14 2015Guess what? General Motors is back in the spotlight for not recalling something. This time, though, not only does the company have an argument against a recall campaign, but its position is supported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to The New York Times, over 50 owners of GM vehicles have reported instances of stuck or seized steering after driving long distances without moving the wheel. One owner complained to NHTSA that the "locked" steering of their 2013 Buick Verano caused a collision with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Along with the 2013 to 2014 model year Verano sedans, Chevrolet Cruze and Malibu sedans are also affected. Considering the popularity of those models, GM needs to have a reason for not issuing a recall, right? "Based on a very low rate of occurrence – ranging from less than one half to less than two incidents per thousand vehicles – and the fact that the condition is remedied when the wheel is turned, GM determined this was not a safety issue," spokesman Alan Adler told The Times. The company has, however, issued a technical service bulletin for owners that complain of the problem. The fix is nothing more than a software update that is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles from new. NHTSA cited GM's actions, along with descriptions of the problems from customers, in its decision not to issue a recall, with spokeswoman Catherine Howden saying, "the symptoms described would be a brief, perceptible change in steering feel that has little to no effect on the driver's ability to safely steer the vehicle." "When terms like 'notchy,' 'stick,' 'slip' or 'feel' are used, it does not indicate a meaningful increase in steering effort," Howden told The Times via email. What do you think? Is GM in the wrong here? Should there be a recall, or is the issue so limited as to not warrant one? Have your say in Comments. Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere
Tue, 26 Feb 2013Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.
Should heavy-duty pickup trucks have window stickers with fuel mileage estimates?
Sat, Sep 23 2017If you were to stroll into your nearest Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Nissan, or Ram dealership, you'd find a bunch of pickup trucks. Most of those would have proper window stickers labeled with things like base prices, options prices, location of manufacture, and, crucially, fuel economy estimates. But you'd also run across a number of heavy-duty trucks with no such fuel mileage data from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA doesn't require automakers to publish the valuable miles-per-gallon measurement for vehicles with gross weight ratings that exceed 8,500 pounds. That makes it difficult for consumers to compare behemoths powered by turbocharged diesel engines – between one another, and between smaller, gasoline-fueled trucks. Consumer Reports doesn't think it should be this way, and it's spearheading an effort (PDF link) to get the government to require manufacturers to publish fuel economy estimates. In its own testing, CR found that heavy-duty pickups powered by Ford's Power Stroke, GM's Duramax, and FCA's Cummins diesel engines (which doesn't include the Ram's EcoDiesel) get worse fuel mileage than their lighter-duty gas-powered siblings. We're not so sure HD-truck buyers are unaware of this fact – big diesels don't really come into their own until big loads are placed in their beds or attached to their trailer hitches. Under heavy workloads, the diesel trucks will almost certainly return greater efficiency than a similar gas-powered truck. What's more, HD trucks with lumbering diesels in general make the driver feel more confident while towing due to greater torque at low engine RPM than gas trucks. They also offer greater max-weight limits. Still, we agree EPA fuel mileage estimates should be offered for heavy-duty pickups. And we think the comparisons provided by Consumer Reports might be interesting to potential buyers. Click here to see the results of CR's tests, and let us know what you think using the poll below.
