This is a 1966 Chevelle 396 SS true 13817 car. I have included a picture of the Trim Tag so you can do your own investigating on its authenticity. Shows to have been built the second week of May in Baltimore with the original color being Artesian Turqoise (which looks like it still has the original paint on it). It is a factory automatic and a/c car. This car needs everything but is one of the best optioned SS cars of this year I have ran across. It has the 'knee knocker" tach, what looks to be a dealer installed am/fm under dash stereo, still has all of the a/c system in tact including compressor. (No having to hunt down hard to find brackets). It also has a very interesting Delco alternator (see pic). It looks to be pretty much unmolested except for it does not have the matching #s 396. I purchased the car as a non-runner but got it home, put new points, battery, and ran the fuel line to an external gas can and she fired up. Motor sounds good and it takes gear. It has NO brakes so we have not driven it. All sheet metal has rust and will probably need replaced with the exception of the new hood. Frame looks to be in good condition. It does have some a few trim parts in the trunk, including a grill that is in good condition. Seats, console, shifter..all of the hard to find stuff is there. This car needs a complete restoration but you will have an extremely rare and high dollar car when finished. This is not a car that someone has previously attempted to restore or pieced together. It is a clean slate to build a very desirable car. Please look at the pictures provided and ask any questions that you might have before bidding. I have done my best to represent the vehicle through description and photos. Feel free to call or text 501-337-3792 with any questions. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time due to local sale if the reserve has not been met. Any serious and reasonable offers will be entertained. I have a clean title in hand. $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction and I accept Cashier's Checks, Cash, or wire transfers. Buyer is responsible for transporting vehicle. Thank you. God bless and happy bidding.

Seeing the Detroit Auto Show via drone

Sun, Jan 18 2015

Seeing the Chevrolet display at the Detroit Auto Show is worth doing this year, and not just because of the new Corvette Z06, Volt and Bolt concept. In order to attract the new kids, The Bowtie has gone what the old kids used to call "buck wild" with their show stand at Cobo Hall. A Corvette Z06, Trax, and Colorado are parked along a central aisle, called Mainstreet, at the end of which is a 20-foot-tall, 73-foot long transparent screen lording over the new Volt. Elsewhere are five more 20-foot-tall screens broadcasting nine stories today's Chevrolet wants to tell about its vehicles, from performance to belief in the power of play to its 4G LTE-equipped OnStar telematics service. Then there are the social media and virtual reality safety installations, the community presentations and more. Chevrolet flew a drone through the stand to show off what it's doing, which is has replaced eye-level video as the next best thing to being there. You can check it out in the video above.

GM patent reveals new two-stage turbocharger

Fri, Jun 24 2016

Modern turbochargers may be some of the best ever made, but performance is something that engineers are always trying to improve. According to GM Inside News, General Motors (GM) is hoping to alleviate some of the negative aspects of a two-stage turbocharger setup with a newly-patented design. The patent, that was filed on May 19, 2016, reveals a clever bypass system that allows the engine, a four-cylinder unit, to optimize both the low-pressure and high-pressure inlets for its respective functions. According to the filing, a conventional two-stage turbocharger setup is engineered to allow both turbines to operate simultaneously at low and mid engine speeds. At high engine speeds, only the low-pressure turbine works. The setup can't isolate either the low or high pressure side, which can impair low-end performance. GM's new two-stage turbocharger setup looks to eliminate this by linking the high-pressure turbo to the exhaust manifold through the high-pressure inlet duct. The low-pressure turbo is attached to the high-pressure turbo by a low-pressure inlet duct, which is linked to a connecting channel. A single actuator that is housed in the exhaust manifold creates a bypass that can opens the high-pressure inlet or close the connecting channel. Depending on what the engine load and speed is, the ECU guides the actuator—a single rotating spindle with discs corresponding to flanges on the high and low pressure sides—to isolate one of the two turbos. Isolating the turbos allow the respective inlets to be engineered for the best possible fluid dynamic performance. The setup should increase performance and decrease lag. There's no word on what car this setup will make an appearance on, but it will most likely be used in premium vehicles before trickling down to the rest of GM's vehicles. Corvette Stolen In Detroit Returned To Owner After 33 Years

Wed, Jun 25 2014

A Detroit man had his stolen Corvette returned 33 years after it disappeared while parked on one of Detroit's main drags, according to ABC 7. The last time George Talley saw his 1979 Corvette was on a July day in 1981, when it disappeared from its parking spot on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit. He had given up hope of ever seeing his car again, until a phone call from AAA brought his sporty ride home. Authorities had come across a Corvette with a questionable VIN in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. When they ran the number Talley's stolen car report came up. The car is still in pretty good shape and only has 47,000 miles on the odometer. Talley wasn't sure how he could get the car back home, but General Motors stepped in and agreed to cover the cost of bringing the 'Vette home. Talley has always had a passion for Detroit-made muscle cars. "I've always liked Corvettes. It was attractive. The ladies like 'em," Talley told ABC 7.
