Stunning frame off restored 66 Chevelle with a rare and famous L78 396 bored 30 (1969 L78 per engine code) specifically built for the BDS Stage II 871 blower (anodized rotors and case for gall resistance) which is topped off with dual 825 CFM Demons converted to run on E85. Although they can be easily converted back to gas, this motor and I love E85. Its plentiful in the Cincy area, its sometimes a $1 cheaper than premium gas (currently $2.59), it produces a cooler charge (keeping the engine cooler) and its rated at 105 octane (like race gas without the price). Forged steel crank, 7/16 connecting rods, blower matched Crane Cam with 620 lift, o-ringed triple sprung square port open chambered GM Performance LS6 replacement heads, Crane Cam aluminum roller rockers, chrome moly push rods, Hooker ceramic headers, MSD coil, MSD distributor, MSD ignition box, rev limiter with boost control, TSI turbo 400 with manual valve body reverse shift pattern and trans brake. I used to think automatics were no fun until I had one with a transbrake! 4200 stall, Hurst shifter, Spicer shaft, new wheels with new Mickey rubber (skinnies up front and drag radials in the back), BeCool radiator with 2 puller and 1 pusher fans, all new front suspension and Comp Engineering drag shocks.

The exterior color is a gorgeous laser straight Zinc Yellow. New black interior, smoothed firewall, 8 point cage with dual swingouts for easy entry, painted fiberglass custom hood (that I don't currently run because it looks better without and the painted fiberglass ended up a slight shade lighter as you can see in the picture), front disc brakes, posi rear (currently with 3:23 gears for cruising), seat belts for front and rear passengers, factory console.

97k original miles. Estimated at 700 hp but that is at 10% underdrive. With a simple belt and pulley swap, the skies limit.

Hot Wheels Camaro to make big debut at Indy

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

Chevrolet handed over the keys to 33 Hot Wheels Camaro Convertible Indianapolis 500 festival cars this week. Race directors get the luxury of driving the droptops around Indianapolis in an ongoing tradition with roots all the way back to the 1960s. The stunt is supposed to remind area residents that the Indy 500 is right around the corner. The cars are our first look at the special Camaro Hot Wheels Edition in convertible form, and they are slated to head to dealers after a one-time production run. The cars also represent the first time in history full-size Hot Wheels have been offered for sale by an automaker.
The cars will be available in both the previously seen coupe bodystyle and this convertible configuration, and will feature metallic blue paint and special wheels with the iconic redline accent. Buyers will be able to choose between the V6-powered 2LT trim and the V8-powered 2SS guise.
Hot Wheels says the original Custom Camaro toy was one of the original 16 1:64-scale diecasts, and it remains one of the company's most valuable collector items today.

National Corvette Museum to recreate sinkhole experience for patrons [UPDATE]

Sun, May 10 2015

UPDATE: The Thunderdome at the National Corvette Museum is not a ride; instead it's an experience that mixes digital graphics and thundering sound. For a brief period, it looked like the National Corvette Museum was going to preserve that sinkhole that ate eight important 'Vettes last year. After all, tourism boomed there afterwards. However, keeping the crater would have been more expensive than just doing the repairs. The museum isn't ready to let people completely forget, though, and now intends to make a major attraction out of a recreated version of the calamity. The museum's plan turns the sinkhole disaster into an amusement park ride called the Thunderdome, according to GM Authority. In a smaller recreation of the Skydome, 15 people at a time would get to watch an imitation of the sinkhole devouring the eight Corvettes. To make the experience even more immersive, visitors would get to view this all from an artificial, underground cave. If you missed seeing the actual pit, this would certainly be a bizarre way to experience it. According to GM Authority, the exhibit would also include an explanation of how sinkholes occur. The Corvette museum reportedly wants the attraction open by this fall.

Hoons off-road in a lowrider Monte Carlo in latest Roadkill video

Wed, May 6 2015

Specialization keeps the automotive world interesting because it creates all sorts of fun niches. For example, if you like hot rods, you can dive deep into the world of rat rods or just focus on cars with a more traditional look. In some cases the myriad styles don't mix very well, of course, and the folks at Roadkill are proving that on video by attempting to take a lowrider Chevrolet Monte Carlo from Los Angeles to Las Vegas on dirt. As you might expect, forcing a lowrider off-road doesn't go well, but the stunt makes for a great chronicle of dumb, automotive fun. Other than some repairs to get the Monte Carlo roadworthy, the only modification here is a set of knobby tires to achieve at least a modicum of traction on the loose rocks. Although, no matter what they do, at the even lowest speeds the hosts inside are still bounced around like they're in an inflatable castle at a kid's birthday party. Still, the guys are clearly amused by it all.
