This auction is for a Pro Street 1966 Chevelle 300 Deluxe that has a chassis that is designed to hold up to the extreme power of the engine. All of the fabrication work was done professionally and when inspected at the track it passes with flying colors. Here is why that is important. This kind of power can accelerate up to 150mph in a 1/4 mile and you cant have any failers at that speed. Anyone, rather driving on the street or racing at the track should have confidence knowing that only the best quality was used in putting together their race/street car. All of the tracks I have been to religiously inspect the cars for "safety" and look for things like the cage being properly designed welded to the frame and fitted, harness attachments propery placed and attached, tire clearance tread and quality, extended lugnut studs, drive shaft loop, transmission shield or blanket, and all external rotating parts are required to be SFI rated. This entire car has all the ingredients to make accelerating, reaching high speeds and slowing down- safe and sound as either a street car or track machine.

There is no way to list all of the insane upgrades to this car. To start, I have had it for 15 years and poured thousands of dollars into it making sure it was done safe and right. This car has always been garaged with a cover on it.The engine, trans and drive trane really only have about 150 tuning/road/break in miles on them (not track). The $18k 540 BBC engine has "all new" top of the line parts including Dart block, AFR heads, Isky red zone lifters, Jesel shaft rockers. The engine was dyno tuned by Rick Waters Racing in Phoenix and produced 740HP 680 torque on pump gas. Engine has different (then below pictures) headers and valve covers that fit better in this car. Here is a site with engine build pictures- https://picasaweb.google.com/tmoble/MoreHoss540PicsUnsorted#.

The car has a 10 point roll cage with driver and passenger cam lock 5 point harnesses. The frame is boxed with roll cage welded to it and the drive shaft tunnel has been fabricated and trussed in 5 locations connecting the body cross members as seen in the pictures. Most tunnels are just half round circles without trussing. The tunnel is tall as seen in the interior pictures so the car can be lowered as much as you want. The transmission also has tons of clearance because the tunnel goes all the way to the front.. The back half is all Chris Alston Chassis works. The rear housing is a 4 link Fab 9 and the Strange Pro nodular center section has a Detroit locker, 35 spline Strange axles with 4:10 ratio. The rear brakes are Wilwood pro street duel piston calipers with extra thick rotors. Both front and back suspension have adjustable coil overs. The rear tires are pretty much the widest Mickey Thompson 15" slick made - I was sick of always loosing traction. The transmission is a professionally built Turbo 400 with Cheeta valve body and is manual shift with a 3500 stall converter. The front end has a manual steering gear box and boxed lower control arms. All of the front bushings and joints have been done and are Moog. The front brakes are duel piston from a Corvette which use huge rotors. There is a transmission cooler in front of aluminum radiator as well as a pusher electric fan that sits behind the grill. The switch for it is where the front license plate bolt is-see pic.

The interior is all black- carpet, headliner, door panels etc. The floor has been sealed, Rhino lined and has pad beneath carpet to reduce noise. The shifter is a hurst pistol grip with trigger that activates the front brake lock for burn outs. I just recently bought a Dakota digital instrument cluster so that this expensive engine has correct readings and you know how fast you are going down the road. Look up Dakota Digital for a 66 Chevelle and you will see that its capabilities are endless- $750 very well spent. There is also an air fuel mixture gauge in the middle of the dash that tells you how perfect this thing is tuned throughout the RPM's.

I have to mention (because its both funny and ridiculous) that this car draws a ton of attention everywhere it goes. All it takes is going to the corner gas station for fuel for people to come out of the woodwork. From trying to pull next to me to ask about it or try to provoke a race from erratic driving - all types of enthusiasts surface when this thing rolls down the road. I have even had the gas station attendant inside the store ask me over the loud speaker "what kind of bitchin car is that and what does it run in the quarter." Even our local Sheriff came over to admire and praise the car. Who knows what would happen if it went out on a regular basis. All of that happened in the three times I took it out in the last 6 months.

I am pretty sure 1966 is smog exempt so you can drive this on the street with appropriate tires if you choose - even in California.

I am selling because I have to many hobbies, they closed our favorite track and I cant justify doing this instead of spending time with my kids.

To do this car over again would cost at least $50,000 so realize it's listed for half of what I have into it and most everything is like new/barely used.

This car always starts right up, drives straight down the road, is insanely fast and stops easily.

"Body has a few small scratches on right rear tail bezel and on side of hood and paint sag underneath sticker on driver side fender otherwise in great condition. There is no heater or glove box- space is occupied by electronics and shaving unnecessary items from car."

There will be no joy rides, this is a race car and requires someone who has money to maintain it and is responsible.. You can literally be casually driving this thing down the road and stomp on it and boil these huge 33x17x15 slicks on the street.

"Please keep in mind that this is a race car meant to go fast in a straight line and has required maintence and necessity for someone that is mechanically inclined." This car is not set up to drive thousands of miles. It needs to be tweaked regularily and set up for different track conditions so you need to know what you are doing.

This car is sold as is and I assume no responsibiliy for it once it leaves my posession.

I have no ability to ship, buyer has to set up all transport costs and pick up..

Sorry to those interested in my last auction. I ended early because I could not get good picture quality or proper formatting without starting over. I must be doing something wrong with my advertising because I am watching other "muscle car" sellers getting bids on total hack job cars that will blow up or desintrigate the minute you hit the throttle on them.

Good luck!!!

GM faces possible class action lawsuit over 8-speed transmission

Thu, Apr 25 2019

General Motors has been hit with a class-action lawsuit from owners who allege the eight-speed automatic transmission found in several rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC models between the 2015 and 2019 model years has a defect that causes the vehicles to hesitate and jerk when accelerating or slowing down. The lawsuit was posted to ClassAction.org and spotted by GM Authority. Problems with GM's Hydra-Matic 8L90 and 8L45 transmissions have been well-documented on Internet forums and via complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with many reporting damage to their vehicles. The lawsuit was first filed in December in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida but appears to have been transferred recently to New York. Autoblog sought comment from Theodore Leopold, the lead attorney for the plaintiffs. "These transmissions have a common defect," the complaint reads. "Drivers attempting to accelerate or decelerate their cars feel a hesitation, followed by a significant shake, shudder, jerk, clunk, or 'hard shift' when the vehicle's automatic transmission changes gears." The problem also occurs when the vehicles accelerate in a single gear, without shifting, the plaintiffs allege. "Drivers have reported that the shift is sometimes so violent, they feel as though they have been hit by another vehicle." The problem is believed to center on the transmission, torque converter or both. The complaint says it causes undue friction, causing hydraulic systems and gears to function improperly and sometimes leaves metal shavings throughout the transmission, leading to costly repairs and replacement of parts or the entire transmission. It says GM has known about the problems since shortly after it introduced the transmissions, and has issued 13 technical service bulletins, none of which have resolved the problem. GM declined to comment on the lawsuit. The plaintiffs say GM should have warned consumers about the issues and covered repairs under each vehicle's three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. They're seeking statewide classes in at least six states: California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Oklahoma and Texas.

This SEMA special drag race is absurdly awesome

Fri, Dec 5 2014

The SEMA Show came and went last month, and it showed us a ton of heavily modded goodies to dream about during the long, cold winter. The Motor Trend Channel on YouTube is keeping the party rolling a little longer, though, with a drag race inspired by the aftermarket event. All of the hosts were supposed to borrow a vehicle from the show for the big race, but only two of them actually cajoled companies into lending their wares. Still, the result includes four very cool and extremely different examples of the breadth of the automotive hobby. First up, there's a 1955 Chevrolet with a 535-cubic-inch (8.8-liter) Hemi V8 stuffed under the hood. Appropriately, it's dubbed the Blasphemi, and with skinny tires up front, fat rubber in the rear and a stripped interior, this this is made to go very fast in a straight line. Next, there's a stock Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat boasting 707 horsepower. Plus, host Jessi Lang has her dog riding shotgun for the race. A Chevy Sonic RS with some body mods, downpipe and intake is also competing. Finally, the most bizarre of the quartet is a custom 1958 Jeep Forward Control with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and treads to replace the wheels. Obviously, the Blasphemi and Hellcat are the only two that really have a chance of winning, but check out the video to see which one crosses the finish line first. 2014 Chevy Silverado priced from *$24,585, V8 gets better economy than Ford EcoBoost V6

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Chevrolet has thrown down the next hand in the pickup truck poker wars and revealed at least a couple of potential aces - depending on which numbers matter most to you. The 2014 2014 Silverado 1500 with its 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 gets 335 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, is mated to a six-speed automatic, can tow 11,500 pounds with the optional Max Trailer Package and costs the same as the outgoing Silverado, $24,585 (*including $995 destination fee). Chevy says the Silverado also stands atop the fuel economy charts when comparing any competitor with a V8 engine - and some competitors with V6 engines. The two-wheel drive model returns 16 miles per gallon city, 23 mpg highway, 19 mpg combined in two-wheel drive guise and 16 mpg city, 22 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined as a four-wheel drive.
For context around those numbers, the most fuel efficient V8-powered 2013 Ford F-150 pickups lose about two mpg in every metric compared to the Silverado, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost returning 16 city, 18 highway and 22 combined in two-wheel drive. However, that EcoBoost does have 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. You can get a Ram 1500 with a 3.6-liter V6 that gets 25 mpg highway, but it has 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The 2013 Ram with the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and its 395 hp and 407 lb-ft drops one mpg in every category to the Silverado. Its tow rating is 200 pounds beyond its nearest competitor, the F-150 with the Max Trailer Tow Package.
Elsewhere, the new Silverado gets a quieter cab with a redesigned interior, a new bed with improved load-management possibilities, disc brakes all around, tweaked steering and suspension, along with free standard scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.
