1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Convertible SS Clone

Body:

Very straight rust free body with a slick and beautiful Charcoal Grey Metallic base/clear paint job. The paint was done a few years back but has just been wet sanded and buffed to a mirror finish. Shows very nice with very high shine and no major issues or problems. The metallic in the paint makes it sparkle and shine in the sunlight.

Exterior:

New black convertible top, new weatherstipping, good trim, bumpers, mirrors, and bright work, good original glass (all operates easy up and down). 15" American Racing torque thrust aluminum wheels with 225/60/15 BFG rubber with 90% tread left.

Interior:

Bucket seats with new black seat covers front and back, SS door panels, SS dash door, chrome gauge bezel with tachometer, triple chrome gauges under dash, Grant steering wheel, Kenwood CD/radio, Infiniti speakers (sounds very good), power antenna, nice black carpet, custom Malibu SS rubber floor mats. Detailed trunk with correct paint, trunk mat spare and jack.

Drivetrain:

406 aluminum headed roller motor, Edelbrock Performer intake, 750 CFM carb, aluminum heads, roller rockers, Hedman headers, aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, electronic ignition, MSD wires, Flowmaster mufflers, 4 speed manual trans, Hurst shifter, 373 10 bolt rear end, power GM disc brakes up front, power GM drum brakes on rear, GM power steering, new quick ratio steering box, new mini high torque starter.

Summary:

This is a very nice driving cruiser with no problem winning trophies at your local car shows and cruise ins. The paint is high gloss and shines very well. The car starts, drives, turns and stops with no issues. Very good driving car with plenty of power (estimated 375 hp). The clutch is smooth and operates with ease. The brakes are smooth with no vibrations and no pulling when applied. The car accelerates with ease with no skips or stumbles. The car sounds awesome thru the Hedman headers and Flowmaster mufflers. It has a healthy cam with a good lope at idle. Grabs attention wherever you drive or park. All gauges, dash lights, courtesy lights, headlights, blinkers, brake lights, heater, radio, power antenna, windshield wipers and horn work properly. The parade boot (convertible top cover) is included for summer time cruising with the top down.

Study the pictures and feel free to ask any questions I will answer them as quickly as possible. I have put a very fair "Buy It Now" price on the car but feel free to "Make An Offer" but don't hesitate. 64 Chevelles are rare and nice ones like this one does not come around very often. The car is sure to sell quickly.

Junkyard Gem: 1986 Chevrolet Sprint Plus

Fri, Jun 16 2023

General Motors sold second- and third-generation Suzuki Cultuses with Geo or Chevrolet Metro badging in the United States from 1989 through 2001 model years, and we've all seen plenty of those cars on the street over the years. The first-generation Cultus was sold here as well, with Chevrolet Sprint badges, and I've found a rare example of the Sprint five-door hatchback in a Northern California car graveyard. The Chevy Sprint first appeared on the West Coast as a 1985 model, then became available everywhere in the United States for the 1986 through 1988 model years (in Canada, it was sold as the Pontiac Firefly). It was available here as a hatchback with three or five doors; for 1986 only, the five-door was badged as the Sprint Plus. Soon enough, The General would be selling many more Asian-built cars with Detroit badges here. Isuzu I-Marks were sold as Chevrolet/Geo Spectrums starting in the 1986 model year, while Daewoo provided the Pontiac LeMans two years later. Under the hood, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder rated at 48 horsepower. The five-door Sprint cost $5,580 in 1986, which was $200 more than the three-door (those prices would be $15,445 and $14,891 in 2023 dollars). I've documented seven discarded Sprints prior to this one (including an extremely rare Turbo Sprint), and all of them were three-doors; we can assume that price was the most important factor for Sprint buyers. Gasoline prices were crashing hard during the middle 1980s, but memories of gas lines and odd-even-day fuel rationing from 1979 remained strong. What cars competed with the '86 Sprint on sticker price? Well, there was no way to undercut the hilariously affordable (and terrible) Yugo GV, which cost $3,990. The much bigger (but still pretty bad) Hyundai Excel listed at $4,995, while Toyota would sell you a sturdy (but zero-fun) Tercel starting at $5,448. Even the wretched Chevy Chevette — yes, it was still available in 1986 — cost $5,645. The original buyer of this car was willing to shell out an extra $395 to get an automatic instead of the base five-speed manual. That's about $1,093 in today's money. This car must have been slow. By the end, the doors were held shut with duct tape, but it still stayed alive until age 37. 53 miles per gallon on the highway! It does everything. The camels of the highway.

Drivers buy new $300K McLaren 720S, 2019 Chevy Corvette, and wreck 'em

Tue, Jul 17 2018

Two high-powered, high-priced sports cars, wrecked in their infancies. No doubt they were fun while they lasted. In Great Falls, Va., a tony suburb of Washington, D.C., that hugs the Potomac River, someone was out enjoying driving the McLaren 720S they had purchased only the day before on a leafy, two-lane road. Then, horror: In an instant, the car hit a tree, mangled and destroyed "because of speed," according to the Fairfax County Police Department. Purchased Friday. Totaled Saturday. This McLaren 720S, costing around $300,000, was destroyed today in Great Falls because of speed. The driver was taken to the hospital with thankfully only non-life threatening injuries. A reminder to slow down, or it could cost you. pic.twitter.com/XhC3LKRY1t — Fairfax County Police (@FairfaxCountyPD) July 14, 2018 Then on salvage auction site Copart, a brand-new orange 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport lies in a warehouse in Lincoln, Neb., its front left corner crushed, wheel askew. It had just 15 miles on the odometer. We know nothing of the backstory, except for the obvious front-end damage and secondary damage to the undercarriage. The rear end and 6.2-liter V8 engine, which makes 460 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, look OK. The most current bid as this was published was just north of $9,000. It's tempting in both cases to assign the blame to over-eager drivers who weren't quite yet able to corral all that power. In the case of the McLaren, the supercar makes 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque from its quad-cam, twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8. It goes from 0-62 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds and boasts a top speed of 212 mph. We're not saying the unidentified driver was a newbie, but this car is definitely not for newbies. Police write that the incident is "A reminder to slow down, or it could cost you." As in, $300,000. Or at least the depreciation for driving it off the lot. Related Video:
