1997 Chevrolet Cavalier

The PERFECT car for someone who needs reliability !

LOW RESERVE!!   I NEED THIS GONE !!!!

I purchased this car in June of 2012 and have driven it (mostly highway) for over 15,000 miles!   Even at 80 MPH I was getting about 25 MPG and the car had power to spare!

This car probably won't win any awards for aesthetics... but, as a functional car that is reliable I give it two thumbs up, as I've had absolutely NO problems with it.  I don't know anything about the history before I bought it.  But it has a clear title and no major damage that I have seen.

  • Tires have good tread
  • Alignment is good / perfectly straight
  • starts easily in 118 degree Phoenix heat as well as 20 degrees !
  • 25 MPG average ( what I was getting )
  • Steering is tight,  power steering works excellent
  • Anti-lock brakes work perfect.
  • Interior is 6 out of 10.  one good cleaning and it'll shine.

Problems that I know about:

Convertible top won't go down all the way.   I've checked it out and it seems to be the gear on the RH side.  Easily replaced.

Convertible top is in very good condition , except for a few small scuffs and one spot where the frame poked through ( less then a dime width )   NO LEAKS !!!!!

Needs weatherstripping

Needs rear vinyl window  ( Power leads for Heated Window )

Side mirrors need to be put back on ( Comes with car )

Leaks small amount of oil.  small drips.. nothing major..... about 1 quart a month worth.

RH hubcap needs to be reinstalled.... (included)

Dashboard ( top part ) has missing piece near windshield.  Not necessary to be replaced, but I found this at "pick-a-part" and it was about $25.   Just pops off and snaps on.

Headliner need replacing.... or ... simply tear it off.   Hangs down.   Again.. priced this at Pick-a-part and was about $30.

Sun shades.. need recovering.  ... or... tear off the fabric.  Darn Phoenix sun !!!

DETAILS OF AUCTION!!!!   READ !!!!

I will deliver anywhere in Phoenix on FEB 7, 8, or 9.   NO SOONER .. NO LATER

What to have it transported ??   Pickup on Feb 7,8 or early morning on 9th.  NO SOONER... NO LATER

DEPOSIT TO BE 1/2 AMOUNT OF SALES PRICE! Payable by PayPal / Money Pack (from Green Dot ) / Cashiers Check sent via FEDEX / or Bank Transfer to CHASE.

Chevy up to old EVs-equal-range-anxiety tricks in new Volt Olympics ad

Fri, Feb 14 2014

General Motors is at it again with a new Chevrolet Volt TV commercial. Viewers of the Winter Olymics (at least in some markets) recently saw a TV ad in between the skating and the skiing that made no mention of the environmental benefits or freedom from the power of Big Oil that electric vehicles provide. No, this one was based on pure survival instinct. In the video, a father is driving down a highway, perhaps through the Mojave Desert. His young son is sitting in the Volt's backseat and asks what happens when the EV's battery runs out. "We'll have to cross that burning desert with snakes and cactus until we make it back to civilization," the dad tells his son as they pass the skeleton of a fallen bull. The fine print makes it clear that the actual maximum range is 342 miles. But there is hope. The father tells his son, with a beaming smile on his face, that the gas generator has kicked in and they're going to make it through the desert. As they wend their way to the horizon, a voice over says that Volt drivers who charge up regularly are making it 900 miles between fill ups. The fine print makes it clear that the actual official maximum range before you need to either plug in or fill up is 342 miles. This theme that emphasized range anxiety has been utilized by GM since the extended range Volt was launched in late 2010, despite the fact that Chevrolet now offers an all-electric vehicle in the Spark EV. Volt fans are praising the commercial, called The New Freedom, on the GM-Volt forum and you can see for yourself below. This content is hosted by a third party. Seeing the Detroit Auto Show via drone

Sun, Jan 18 2015

Seeing the Chevrolet display at the Detroit Auto Show is worth doing this year, and not just because of the new Corvette Z06, Volt and Bolt concept. In order to attract the new kids, The Bowtie has gone what the old kids used to call "buck wild" with their show stand at Cobo Hall. A Corvette Z06, Trax, and Colorado are parked along a central aisle, called Mainstreet, at the end of which is a 20-foot-tall, 73-foot long transparent screen lording over the new Volt. Elsewhere are five more 20-foot-tall screens broadcasting nine stories today's Chevrolet wants to tell about its vehicles, from performance to belief in the power of play to its 4G LTE-equipped OnStar telematics service. Then there are the social media and virtual reality safety installations, the community presentations and more. Chevrolet flew a drone through the stand to show off what it's doing, which is has replaced eye-level video as the next best thing to being there. You can check it out in the video above.

2016 Chevy Volt powertrain video teasers

Fri, Oct 31 2014

If there's one thing we've learned about plug-in vehicle fans, you have a thing for seeing your cars get made. The series of videos showing BMW i3 production was strangely popular, as were the shots from inside the VW e-Golf plant. Well, with General Motors pulling the veil off of the 2016 Chevy Volt this week, it's time to take a peek at the production process for that vehicle as well. You're welcome. Up first we've got a clip from CNN Money showing a little bit about how the new Volt's new battery pack and other powertrain components are made. Those of you who are trying to read the lithium tea leaves and see if the new shape reveals that the 2016 Volt will have five seats might want to check it out. Then we've got two clips from GM itself, one showing an animation about the updated Voltec powertrain and another with some B Roll of the old Volt. Since GM doesn't want us to see the new car quite yet, we'll have to enjoy this for now. Watch below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.
