Okay, Ebay nation, I have had it with Craigslist and all the " I'll bring the money tomorrow" speeches. I have had 3 seperate offers of 2600.00, 2500.00 and 2300.00, never to have heard from the offerees again or the ever popular " hold it for me for one more week". So here it goes- It's a 1992 Caprice with 32,860 original miles. I believe I am listed as the 3rd owner but really the 2nd. I bought it from and elderly couple in south central Pennsylvania. The story as they told me was it was a dealership courtesy car in Virginia, came to an auction house a year later with a little over 12,000 miles and these nice folks bought it. They had it until January of 2013, when I bought it from them with just under 27,000 miles. When I bought the car and took it to my mechanics for state inspection, they advised me to get new tires on the front. They were nearly new with about 90% of their tread still there. My mechanic advised me that the front tires did have plenty of tread depth left but that they were over 10 years old and wouldn't stick to the road that well. This car sat a whole lot of time in their business garage without being used. I also had the replace the complete rear brake assembly: shoes, drums and wheel cylinders which had deteriorated over time from non use. The front tires have less than 6000 miles on them and I just replaced the rears, all matching Kuhmo( I think that's how it's spelled) whitewalls. The rear tires were replaced for this years state inspection and have less than 700 miles on them. New EGR valve, fairly new plugs and wires and serpentine belt. The car runs like a dream. This isn't a guarantee, but you could probably drive cross country and never miss a beat. Has new oil change and coolant was flushed and replaced with new thermostat about 6000 miles ago. I had the A/C serviced last summer and it's cold as ice. Body is straight and paint is clean save for some minor scratches and chips that can't be seen unless you are on top of them. Refer to one of the pictures for a very minor ding on the rear passenger quarter. I removed all the beltline trim as I preferred the smooth look. The interior in nice and clean, no rips on seats and no cracks on dash, door panels or armrests.Carpets are in decent shape. A little dirty at the moment but clean up nice and have a little bit of fading from time.Headliner has zero sag. Seats are not power but manual. Has base am/fm cassette radio that works fine.Nice clean trunk with spare and spare cover. I don't have any pics of the trunk( forgot!) but if you want to see it I will try to accomodate. Engine starts and runs nicely and runs very, very cool. The temp gauge only goes up about a thrid of the way. My wife and I took a trip to Pennsylvania Dutch country in September and we opted to take our Caprice rather than our 2012 Jeep. This is a nice highway car. But alas, we needed a big truck with 4 wheel drive (the Philly region is about to be hit with its 15th snowstorm!) as we swap cars with a son that still lives at home. He was using the Caprice on weekdays and we would use it on weekends but the Caprice is not great in the snow so it's been sitting. I struggled with keeping it because of the low miles but we probably won't use it much, sad to say. So Craigslist didn't yield anyone serious but I hope that if you like the car, that you will follow through with the purchase if you should win the auction. Email questions. I am starting low and letting it go where it will. You may get a great car for a good price. Clear title from PA in my name. If you are in the philadelphia area, you may come over for a look. We can take it for a neighborhood drive but I have to be behind the wheel as I have taken the insurance off and the car now resides exclusively in my garage. Thanks for looking! p.s. The horn stopped working since inspection. Since the car has hardly been used, it may be something minor. I don't think it's a fuse but maybe a contact issue. All glass in good shape. All windows work but the right rear comes back up on an angle and you have to help it by hand. I want to disclose all I know so nobody gets any surprises. Thanks again. p.s.s. I forgot to mention that I have a pair of aftermarket, fiberglass fender skirts that are in the trunk. They are new and will have to be painted but they will add a cool look. I have a pic of one of the skirts included. p.s.s.s. I keep thinking of stuff- I have receipts for all the work done. Receipts are in the glovebox. If you want to know what I had done and breakdown of cost, give me a holler.Had some requests for pics of the engine. I just added 3. I hadn't detailed the engine compartment so you see it au naturale. I did forget to mention that the previous owners had put on a new alternator but I couldn't swear when and had changed the battery at the same time. p.s.s.s.s. I have had a couple questions about the bumpers and molding strips. I did remove them all around. The bumpers are in decent shape with the paint being duller on the bumpers. The rear bumper has a slight crack behind the license plate.By the way, the winner will win by friday night. My wife and I will be away friday til sunday afternoon. But I will try to contact winner via the hotel computers(I don't own a laptop, I'm too cheap to buy one!).

GM marks 500 million vehicles
Tue, May 5 2015General Motors is marking a major global milestone, as 500 million vehicles have rolled off its assembly lines since the company's founding in 1908. To mark the occasion, the automaker is continuing to invest in production and offering a one-time discount to some customers. GM North America boss Alan Batey used the festivities to announce the Fairfax Assembly factory in Kansas as one of the sites earmarked for the company's $5.4 billion in upcoming investments. The plant will get $174 million of that money for new equipment and technology to build the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. Among the upgrades will be a shake-and-rattle booth that will simulate road conditions to find squeaks. To commemorate both the production milestone and the Fairfax plant, Batey and company CEO Mary Barra also gave away a 2016 Malibu to a wounded Iraqi war veteran, and the two execs announced that in the third week in May all GM employees can share a one-time customer appreciation discount with friends to help get them into the automaker's products. Barra also gave a speech to the workers there about some of the other milestone's in the company's history, which you can read below. Innovation on the Line: GM Manufacturing Milestones Many of General Motors' most important innovations have occurred behind the scenes, in its manufacturing facilities. Concepts such as changeover, flexible assembly, automation, computer simulation, machine vision and robotics were developed at GM. Over the decades these innovations have helped enable improvements in vehicle quality, efficiency and competitiveness. 1901: Ransom Olds' famous Curved Dash Oldsmobile, designed with simplicity, reliability and value in mind, was the first American car built in a factory designed specifically for automobiles and in standardized volume production. GM acquired Oldsmobile in 1908. 1908: Cadillac wins the Dewar Trophy, Europe's most prestigious award for precision and excellence in manufacturing, by demonstrating the auto industry's highest standards for precision and interchangeability of parts by disassembling three Cadillacs and mixing the parts randomly before reassembling and driving them before a contingent of judges. 1922: GM hires William Knudsen to lead Chevrolet's turnaround. Knudsen implements flexible mass production, which helps Chevrolet incorporate annual styling changes and take market share from Ford.
Chevrolet Captiva looks mildly refreshed and ready for family duty
Tue, 05 Mar 2013We showed you Chevrolet's major debut yesterday, the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible, but General Motors is making a big push for Bowtie consideration in Europe, so it's also introducing the updated Captiva crossover here at the Geneva Motor Show.
While still based on the same platform as North America's fleet-only Captiva Sport (which is effectively a rebadged Saturn Vue), the Captiva is available in both five- and seven-seat iterations, and it looks far more modern. That's particularly the case with this updated model, which features revamped front- and rear ends that include restyled bumpers, grilles and LED taillamps, among other changes.
As before, the midsize Theta-platform CUV will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive, and is expected to carry a range of four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. Important US programming note: Chevrolet sources tell us that America's Captiva Sport will not receive these updates.
