Here is my 1973 Chevy Caprice Convertible. This car just hit 49,000 original miles. I am the second owner of this car, and it has always been babied. The elderly woman I bought it from was in tears when I bought the car from her and I just might do the same. This car is ultra clean, and super straight. This car is 98% pure stock. The only things that have been altered/modified on this car are the headlights, and stereo. I installed 4 brand new BLUE HALO headlights which look incredible at night, and I installed a CD player in the glove box with AUX/IPOD hookup. The original AM/FM radio is still un-touched, and is still hooked up, but the speaker wires have been run to the CD player. Here is some more info on this classic-

  • CONVERTIBLE TOP- The convertible top is in excellent shape, the canvas still has flex to it and is strong. The arms, and gears for the scissor-top have always been greased and lubricated, and work perfect. I installed a new relay last year when it was starting to feel slow, fixed it right away. This is a very nice GM scissor-top car. Has the hard glass rear window, with rear window defogger.

  • OPTIONS- This is a pretty well optioned car. Has painted hard FIBERGLASS PARADE BOOT! Also, power windows that jump up and down, fastest moving windows I’ve ever seen in a classic car. Very rare tilt-steering column, SUPER RARE rear defogger, AM/FM radio. ALSO, if interested, I will include a complete power seat track and mechanism to convert to stock power seats for an additional $400.

  • EXTERIOR- Car is gorgeous, there is light touch up work done here and there over the last 41 years, but you really don’t notice it when the rest of the car is this nice. If this car had a nice respray done, it would be a true show car. That’s really all this car needs to be a perfect classic car. There is one small area in front of the pass. side rear tire that is starting to develop light pitting, these cars just do that. I couldn’t imagine a good body shop charging more than a couple hundred bucks to clean it up. That is the only rust on the car. Convertible top is in excellent condition, and works perfect. Has hard glass rear window with defogger! Also has factory ordered spoke hubcaps, with near-new tires all around and a new full-size spare in trunk. Skirts are excellent, and all chrome trim is beautiful.
  • INTERIOR- Interior is pretty much a perfect example of a 1973 Caprice convertible interior. It has brand new chrome door sill plates, Perfect original GM floor mats. Dash is 100% original, un-modified, and clean. Dash top has no cracks, and is perfect. No cracks, or blemishes at all. Seats are excellent, carpet is good, all options work perfect. Original AM/FM radio, that still has power connected, but speakers are connected to stereo in glovebox. Has new speakers front and back. 2- 6x9’s in rear, 2- 4’’ speakers in front, and 1- 6x9 in front. Stereo is loud, but with a amp and subs it would be killer. Excellent door panels and trim. Interior is great. NOTHING has been chopped or cut or messed with in this interior, with the exception of a hole cut in the glove box for the CD player, and a small slit in the carpet for the aux cable and halo light switch to pop out that you can’t even see.

  • DRIVETRAIN/ MECHANICAL- Original front to back. 6.6L 400 c.i.d. small block with a 2 barrel carb. 350 trans. Car runs perfect. DRIVE ANYWHERE. Brakes are new, and strong. Exhaust is original, and quiet. Everything under the car is clean, and rust free. This car has NEVER seen snow, and since I’ve owned it, it’s never been driven in rain. I just put brand new wipers on for the sale because the ones on it were ancient since I never used them. Everything on this car is 100% functional. Again, you can drive this car anywhere.

  • NEW PARTS/ REPAIRS- This car has a new battery, alternator, belts, carb.base gasket, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, points, ignition coil, air and fuel filter, fuel pump, vacuum hoses, brakes front and rear, new heavy-duty radiator, thermostat, trans. pan gasket, and filter, rear main seal for trans. was also replaced. Fresh oil change, and rear end oil. Brand new Blue Halo headlights. This car needs nothing and is ready to cruise and turn heads.

THANK YOU.

So, as you can see, this convertible is extremely nice. You do not see many 1973’s that are this clean and this stock in this kind of condition. Never been on big wheels, never had stupid stereo equipment or any crap done to it. This car has been well cared for for 41 years and it deserves to have the same care for another 41 years. If you have any questions, please email or call. I will do my best to answer any questions, accurately and quickly. The car is for sale locally, so it could disappear at any time. Don’t wait! Please call Ryan- 585-520-2440. If I miss your call, please leave a brief message and I will get back to you quickly. Thank you for looking.

Six-week production shutdown planned for 2016 Chevy Volt

Thu, Apr 9 2015

It's no surprise that GM is winding down production of the first-gen Chevy Volt as it prepares to start building the second-gen for a launch in the second half of this year, but for now, things are proceeding as planned, according to Chevrolet spokesperson Michelle Malcho. Malcho told AutoblogGreen that GM "is still making first generation Volt" and that there has been no announcement about when that will change. The only details she would divulge is that, "It will be this summer." "Halting Chevrolet Volt production in anticipation of the all-new 2016 model year is a smart move for GM," Akshay Anand, an analyst at Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com, said in a statement. "[The move] allows for less inventory and incentives on the outgoing model. Hybrid and alternative fuel vehicle sales have been declining for some time now, with gas prices well below the summer prices of 2014." Volt production will cease in the weeks before the traditional two-week auto plant shutdown over the July 4 holiday. A high inventory of Volts is a factor in the production cuts, but not the only one, Malcho said. The plant construction, engineering changes and pre-production plans for the new Volt and CT6 all were part of the decision, she said. Nationwide, there is about a 200-day supply of Volts on dealer lots (roughly 100 days in California, the car's biggest market), according to the Detroit Free Press, which says there will be a six-week retooling period (twice as long as normal, but other sources say the shutdown will be four weeks long) at GM's Hamtramck plant this summer to get ready for the second-gen model. The 2016 Volt will get an increase in all-electric range to 50 miles and will then get 41 miles per gallon when the battery runs out. It also has a fifth seat that straddles the battery tunnel and a larger li-ion battery. Related Video: The AP contributed to this report. Updated Chevy Silverado spied, possibly with aluminum components

Sat, Apr 11 2015

Chevrolet is readying a refresh for its trusty Silverado pickup, and these spy shots give us our first glimpse at what might be in store. The front and rear fascias of this prototype are covered, obscuring some styling tweaks (with LED accents up front). More interestingly, our spies suggest that many of the Silverado's body components could move to aluminum with this mid-cycle update. The hood will go from steel to the lighter alloy, and it's possible the front fenders could benefit from the weight-saving material, too. Ford's latest F-150 is extremely aluminum-intensive, and by switching the construction, 700 pounds was trimmed off the truck's weight. We've already heard that General Motors is working with a similar plan for its next-generation fullsize trucks. Beyond that, expect the smaller 5.3-liter V8 to ditch its six-speed automatic transmission in favor of the eight-speed unit that's already mated to the larger, 6.2-liter V8. Neither transmission will stick around very long, as the trucks will likely adopt a 10-speed automatic around 2017. Look for the updated Silverado to debut later this year, likely as a 2016.5 model.

Petrolicious profiles one man and his duo of '64 Impalas

Wed, Jul 1 2015

Restoring any vintage car is a labor of love. In the end, the investment of time and money is often more than the vehicle is realistically worth on the open market. Deciding to take all of that work on yourself doesn't make things any easier, but it can only increase your connection to the project. Don Rogers, the subject of the latest video from Petrolicious, shows this passion perfectly with his duo of 1964 Chevrolet Impalas – a hardtop and convertible. Both of these Chevys had been sitting for years before Rogers got his talented hands on them, and he did all of the work himself. Now, driving the pair is therapy for him, and he's not worried about anything breaking because he knows he can put it back together. Rogers says he enjoys wrenching on his vehicles even more than going to shows. Doing your own work comes with advantages, like tailoring a project's look to your preferences. It's not original, but Rogers used the crimson interior color from a '59 Impala on his convertible to make the interior pop with the top down. Rogers is undoubtedly a talented builder, and his work is worth checking out in the latest from Petrolicious. Related Video:
